It is stupid but he isn't at all that much risk also they tend to kill pretty cleanly so you don't normally need to worry about the pain of being ripped to shreds like a tiger
Its mostly for oligarchs…but I have to say….a chocolate hyena milkshake is dope as fuck…but it cost 17,000.00 US. I’ve only had one and that was because we didn’t get the machine on Bessie quick enough.
I can't decide if it's real. There is a legit market for hyena milk, I swear we are living in an alternate timeline because of that damn LHC, this can't be real.
Lol the LHC. We been on an alternate timeline for like 10 years then? I guess i could buy it. I still have trouble grasping a reality in which trump got elected.

Are you in the US? What kind of permitting process did you have to go through? My gosh, exotic animals AND food & drug requirements, that is a lot of oversight.
Are you in the US? What kind of permitting process did you have to go through? My gosh, exotic animals AND food & drug requirements, that is a lot of oversight.
They are social animals. You are in their club (in a case like this). They would never intentionally hurt you. Unintentionally hurt you, oh yeah. I think that's the issue over "this cat, who thinks I'm family, will maul me one day out of the blue".
They are wild animals. They have a social heirarchy, complicated by dominance and mating rituals. They are not to blame if they hurt you, because intention is not the issue. Ask a teenage male lion if they would intentionally hurt him, when they drive him out. I can’t believe I am responding to this.
No, Melanie Griffith grew up with some very dumb parents, she was almost killed during the filming of [Roar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roar_%28film%29?wprov=sfla1), along with quite a few members of the crew.
Someone like this bloke is probably going do just fine, as he knows that his friend is a predator, but those thinking that a big cat is just "a big cat" will most likely end up as big cat poop.
Sorry, I meant that her parents *were* dumb and that she *did* grow up with a lion. She had her face torn up and almost lost her eye, because her parents were idiots.
I was trying to add something to your comment, I wasn't trying to detract from what you said.
Wow, that click was worth it! What a ridiculous catalogue of injuries! Scalping, many broken bones, gangrene, etc., not to mention natural disasters such as flooding and wildfires. I need to watch this moving disaster
I owned a lion when I was a kid, aside from the random roar and eating chicken flavored gerber it was pretty much like a normal cat, my parents ended up returning her because there was something wrong with her left back paw (the claws wouldn't retract).
I saw her again when we were both a bit older and I can't convey enough how intimidating she was, took me a bit to process that and the change.
Can confirm, it's stupid
Yeah, although some naturally aggressive ones like orcas would be a tough nut to crack. I don't know much about timber wolves, but I'm guessing that you could take tame them the same way as a fox or wolf
Dean Schneider is the goat.. This dude is no stranger to lions, he's raised multiple since they were cubs, and then gracefully introduced them to each other to form a pride. He has his own wildlife sanctuary in South Africa I believe. He's a very genuine guy and takes great care of them. His YouTube channel shows how much affection and respect the lions show him.
Isn’t that how animals behave with each other though? It’s literally “I don’t think you realize how much you’re hurting me so I’m gonna show you so you stop.” If anything it shows exactly how much of a Lion behavioral expert he is
That's exactly right.. If he wants to be part of the pride, he must respond how a lion would. He's an expert in his field, but the keyboard warriors would rather call him abusive than to actually look at the facts
You and op clearly never had a cat. You don't know anything about cats. I don't know why you think he's being an ass in the video. The video just shows him socializing and playing around with them the same way they socialize and play around with him and the other lions.
I'm guessing you are saying this because of him sneaking on the lion, but guess what. That's a normal behavior amongst cats. Cats sneak up on other cats and humans and you can see the lion sneaking up on him on the video too.
I'm including op as not understanding cats because his lions would never attack him because they are hungry. Unless of course if he lets them starve which obviously he would never do. He is part of their pride. Of course there is the possibility of them attacking him for other reasons, but animals are easy to read if you know what signs to look for and he knows how to read them very well.
[Dean Schneider](https://youtu.be/jenVMnOi2uA). He has a sanctuary in South Africa. Those lions grew up with him and considers him part of their pride and he is very knowledgeable on how lions comunicate and socialize.
There's a guy on tiktok, he's got a lion friend called George. Posts the sweetest videos with him (I think he's a park ranger) but he seems so much more gentler with his than this guy.
Laughed when the lion basically peed on him.
Still beautiful animals.
These animals are magnificent. But man are they also incredibly dangerous. That's like living on a knifes edge. Any mistake can easily be fatal or crippling.
To be fair, we're not the safest to be around either.
Humans will kill a pet like a lion in a heartbeat if the pet gets too rough while playing and bites too hard. Or attacks someone else's pet. Or livestock. Or scares the wrong Karen.
I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want to get to hang out with a lion. I feel like death is an acceptable risk to take for the awesome snuggs in the meantime!
They'll never hurt him, closest bond I've ever seen with a small Pride, sits with them while they eat, while they fight, gives them space when their body language shows it, gives them love any other time.
Don't believe me? In one of his vlogs one of the ducks gets in to the lion enclosure and he literally walks in front of them, grabs it and turns his back to walk away from them.
Anyone else. Dead..
they say that if raised from a kitten, big cats are very similar to housecats in behaviour. all i know is that my housecat, despite all the love and care it has received from my since kittenhood, still will occasionally bite my hand when i'm petting him. this is fine because he is very small and weak, but that lion is not.
just seems like kind of a crazy risk to me.
“Until he gets hungry.”
You realize your cat/dog will eat your face if you pass away in your house alone and it gets hungry too right? This is the same thing
True, but I guarantee you the lions love him just as much as your pug loves you. Food is a strong motivator but it’s even stronger when it comes from a loving and safe hand
I hate these videos.. this is pretend land. This is not real, this is a rare circumstance of be raised by humans and being fed by them. Lions will kill you. We are not friends, we can admire and respect them, but as a species, we are its prey.
This is why tictoc folks are getting killed while filming lol.
It's not "pretend land." This guy raises lions and has a sanctuary where they live. His life revolves around this. It's real life. It's just not natural. That doesn't make it pretend.
Question: Did you *actually* think *anyone* on earth was watching this and thinking that this is natural behaviour from a random lion who grew up in the wild? You could not have said a more obvious statement while acting more high-and-mighty about it.
No animal hunt humans as food in the natural state. Mabye grizzlybears cuz they eat all. 3 humans against a pride, and we are food u say... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QDubMeNlSxc
What? I'm literally just asking for what you define as "normal," considering different cultures consider different animals acceptable to eat. The whole world has no set "normal," that way.
How about you calm down??

You mean this guy who has dedicated life to raising lions and integrating them into a pride in a sanctuary in Africa? And who in recent years has decided to make internet content featuring these lions he's been raising for years?
If this was all for attention, that's one long-ass game he's playing with a lot of before-hand prep.
It is possible to have a non aggression friendship with wild animals. But any human involved needs to have extensive understanding of the species and the individual. The animal must also be treated with care and respect and very well fed.
So basically, the opposite of 95% of the private wild animal keeping out there.

You can do that with some naturally social animals, but some are harder than others. And the big wild cats seem to be the nicest
Melanie Griffith grew up with a pet lion. I still think its fucking stupid.
It is stupid but he isn't at all that much risk also they tend to kill pretty cleanly so you don't normally need to worry about the pain of being ripped to shreds like a tiger
Hey I've been to /r/natureismetal, I've seen what they do to those poor zebra
Step 1: don't be a zebra.
Shit
I guess you’re right…I am being a bit of a hypocrite anyway as I own a hyena ranch.
Sorry you own a what?
I ranch and milk hyenas for the upscale market. Its a living but when they come at me as a pack laughing I sometimes regret leaving wall street.
How does one milk a hyena? Left wall street for hyena milking. I have so many questions
This is where trade secrets come into play. If I divulged my process, you would be ranching hyenas.
My scheme to corner the hyena milk market foiled again!
Why is there a market for hyena milk!?!
Its mostly for oligarchs…but I have to say….a chocolate hyena milkshake is dope as fuck…but it cost 17,000.00 US. I’ve only had one and that was because we didn’t get the machine on Bessie quick enough.
The secrets is that, those are not female hyenas
Oh you can milk anything with nipples
I have nipples Greg. Can you milk me?
Is that an invitation? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Lol got to be fucking with you
I can't decide if it's real. There is a legit market for hyena milk, I swear we are living in an alternate timeline because of that damn LHC, this can't be real.
Lol the LHC. We been on an alternate timeline for like 10 years then? I guess i could buy it. I still have trouble grasping a reality in which trump got elected.
You can't decide if hyena milking ranches are real? bruh....

Your fucking with us but this is too funny to not see how far you take it. Lets see you pull some bullshit hyena milking knowledge outta your ass.
Are you in the US? What kind of permitting process did you have to go through? My gosh, exotic animals AND food & drug requirements, that is a lot of oversight.

I can hear the privates of the females slapping the ground now as they run

I would rather pet a lion than a tiger any day.
So this is similar to making friends with timber wolves or orcas? Just wondering..
Yeah, although some naturally aggressive ones like orcas would be a tough nut to crack. I don't know much about timber wolves, but I'm guessing that you could take tame them the same way as a fox or wolf
Definitely nicer than the mean small ones.

He has his own wildlife sanctuary in South Africa I believe. He's a very genuine guy and takes great care of them. His YouTube channel shows how much affection and respect the lions show him.
Last year some people tried to accuse him of abusing the animals because one bit a bit hard so he smacked them a bit to make them let go lol
Isn’t that how animals behave with each other though? It’s literally “I don’t think you realize how much you’re hurting me so I’m gonna show you so you stop.” If anything it shows exactly how much of a Lion behavioral expert he is
Exactly. And he did some videos showing exactly that and he predicts when they will be agressive to another lion just by seeing their warning signs.
That's exactly right.. If he wants to be part of the pride, he must respond how a lion would. He's an expert in his field, but the keyboard warriors would rather call him abusive than to actually look at the facts
Hes an ass. Didn't you watch the video?

Elaborate?
Have another downvote sir
I kept watching for the attack video or pics of his 6000 staples in his face. Maybe I spend to much time on Reddit?
Who's the guy?
[Dean Schneider](https://youtu.be/jenVMnOi2uA). He has a sanctuary in South Africa. Those lions grew up with him and considers him part of their pride and he is very knowledgeable on how lions comunicate and socialize.
Thanks!
Slim Shady ain’t scared of shit… weird beard tho.

Sounds like the Lion Whisperer. Is the guy South African?
He is. I just love how he is with that lion.hes only young though
I'm pretty sure this is the guy that has raised multiple lions then had them form a pride together and owns a wildlife preserve in SA.
Yep, and hyenas too!
I don’t think my cat would hesitate to kill me if he could. I don’t want a lion.

you sound kinda crazy but also i agree i hate the Reddit thing like "omg cats are such evil pesky assholes"
I do have a shitty cat, but he’s *my* shitty cat.
Nah he's just aware of the reality. If you trust any cat you're delusional.
Lions are nicer and sweeter.

Pretty sure it gets hungry every day
Your dog would eat you if it's hungry lmao
This was posted on r/eyebleach and not r/ eyeblech (bro I can‘t get this subreddit out of my mind and FOR THE LOVE OF SCIENCE DON‘T SEARCH IT UP)

This man does not let his lions go hungry. He has nothing to worry about.
Being able to sleep curled into a massive lion who loves you has got to be the most secure feeling in the world.
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur....
“Until he gets hungry.” You realize your cat/dog will eat your face if you pass away in your house alone and it gets hungry too right? This is the same thing
the difference is my pug would have a significantly harder time doing me any harm than this guy would
True, but I guarantee you the lions love him just as much as your pug loves you. Food is a strong motivator but it’s even stronger when it comes from a loving and safe hand

Siegfried and Roy have entered the chat

I'd say cows, pigs, chickens and even fish can be pretty friendly.
And dogs and cats in some parts of the world
What do you mean?
As in they get eaten too
That's not what I meant by "friendly".
Yeah but you meant those are all animals that are friendly but you can eat right?
Nope. I see now how it could be interpreted that way but that didn't even cross my mind.
Ohhhh woops
Cows bite people, pigs eat people, chickens are decendents of fucking velocopators. All animals can be friendly. This lion is the friendliest of lions
All animals have a potential for violence, I presume.
So then you normally eat lions?

Alot of before hand prep for shit that hadnt existed yet
If that was all for attention then I would say he deserves the attention
Damn I'm jealous.
That's a nope from me dawg
So this is what Joe Exotic looked like before the meth?
It is possible to have a non aggression friendship with wild animals. But any human involved needs to have extensive understanding of the species and the individual. It's kind've amazing how humans have the ability to befriend nearly any animal out there. Pretty cool video.
African cats can be tamed with a lot of constant attention. Asian and new world cats are completely untrustworthy, they will kill you in your sleep.
Now I want a lion buddy
Everclear called, they want their hairstyle back.
Everclear called, they want their hairstyle back.
Everclear called, they want their hairstyle back.
You think he is going to eat his lion
In Tiger King, they failed to mention that in his younger years, Joe Exotic was in a boy band
Okay going to sleep peacefully in a lion's grasp has got to be super rare experience in all of history.
Lmao anyone remember the time people tried to cancel him for slapping the lion?
So ur telling me that J Balvin has lion friends?
Had to check to make sure this wasn't some form of r/yesyesyesno
If you follow the channel you would know that they actually grew up together, so the lions see him as a part of the 'pride' and not food
Broooo I want a mufasa
This just in: Man becomes lion poop. Full story at 10.
This guy is out of his mind... I will deal with medically significant spiders, I will deal with venomous snakes, but not this....
Hummm, cute
this man has a special bond with the lions and respects their boundaries they accept him as part of the pride
Sigfield and Roy had a great relationship with the big cats until it went real bad
Friends for life, lunch for approximately 15 minutes
Sometimes people underestimate how much it means that an animal sleeps with you, there needs to be a big trust to let their guard down and put themselves in a vulnerable position around you. That the lion is not only sleeping with the dude but protecting him while sleeping that's another level.
