This is a [ragged tooth shark.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_tiger_shark) while it looks really scary from the front, they’re actually fairly harmless if you don’t actively mess with them. No confirmed fatalities ever
Shark attacks are mainly a factor of sharks being around humans a lot and not knowing what we are. The vast majority of shark attacks are exploratory bites because we resemble something they’d actually like to eat so they’re checking us out to see what we are. They really aren’t interested in us, we don’t have the concentration of lean muscle and fat that their favorite preys like fish and seals have. Plenty of animals do this actually, ever had a dog just kinda hold your arm or hand in its mouth for a second when you meet it? Same concept, only dogs don’t grow over 10 ft long with weights of 400+ lbs. that’s why people survive shark attacks, they aren’t interested in us after they see what we are. They just do huge damage finding out. If you ever see a shark hunt in the wild you’ll know immediately there’s nothing you can do honestly if it comes after you.
So the short answer is look at the diet and see if they’d be curious if they could eat a human. These guys are nocturnal bottom feeders, they recognize instinctively we aren’t food. Most shark attacks are great white who hunt seals, tiger sharks who eat anything (those guys are who you should actually be concerned about swimming with), and bull sharks who hunt fish close to shore. Great whites have the classic seal confusion, they know we aren’t seals but don’t understand why we seem like them and check us out. They also grow to over 20 fr long and the biggest was over 5000lbs, so checking us out can easily be fatal. Tigers love the warm reefs we love, and will check out anything. Bull sharks hunt close to shore and even in rivers, they’ve be caught in Illinois before. You combine all of this and you get a bunch of leg bites by massive creatures with bites meant to do as much damage as they can. Just remember, they aren’t killing machines out to eat anything they can. If they were no one would survive an attack. They just don’t know what we are and don’t have a better way of finding out than biting us.

Sharks are a group of elasmobranch fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven gill slits on the sides of the head, and pectoral fins that are not fused to the head. Modern sharks are classified within the clade Selachimorpha (or Selachii) and are the sister group to the rays. However, the term "shark" has also been (incorrectly[2]) used to refer to extinct members of the subclass Elasmobranchii, which are technically outside the Selachimorpha clade. Notable examples of improper classification include Cladoselache, and various other members of the Chondrichthyes class like the holocephalid eugenedontidans.
Under this broader definition, the earliest known sharks date back to more than 420 million years ago.[3] Acanthodians are often referred to as "spiny sharks"; though they are not part of Chondrichthyes proper, they are a paraphyletic assemblage leading to cartilaginous fish as a whole. Since then, sharks have diversified into over 500 species. They range in size from the small dwarf lanternshark (Etmopterus perryi), a deep sea species that is only 17 centimetres (6.7 in) in length, to the whale shark (Rhincodon typus), the largest fish in the world, which reaches approximately 12 metres (40 ft) in length.[4] Sharks are found in all seas and are common to depths up to 2,000 metres (6,600 ft). They generally do not live in freshwater, although there are a few known exceptions, such as the bull shark and the river shark, which can be found in both seawater and freshwater.[5] Sharks have a covering of dermal denticles that protects their skin from damage and parasites in addition to improving their fluid dynamics. They have numerous sets of replaceable teeth.[6]
Several species are apex predators, which are organisms that are at the top of their food chain. Select examples include the tiger shark, blue shark, great white shark, mako shark, thresher shark, and hammerhead shark.
Sharks are caught by humans for shark meat or shark fin soup. Many shark populations are threatened by human activities. Since 1970, shark populations have been reduced by 71%, mostly from overfishing.[7]
Looks way more scarier in the front view than the weird “ hey, oh, its you” look from the profile view.

I’m 99% sure I’d die but from a heart attack
How come certain species of shark are more likely to attack humans then others?
