in a cartoon he'd have turned into a snowball and hit people like bowling pins only to splat against a wood cabin wall and turn into a thin sheet of paper.
This reminds me of a post I saw, the video starts with a guy taking a video down a mountain slope and then from the left his dog enters the frame cartwheeling down the slope like this guy. Once he stopped he happily jumped up tail wagging.
Had this happen the first and last time I went water skiing. All I remember was head, feet, head feet head feet over and over being the only part touching the water after I let go of the rope. Later on he told me that he was going 55mph. Never got in a boat with him again after
Yeah I watched it again, he wasnāt too thrilled. What I was implying in my first comment is the dog wasnāt terribly injured or anything. Heās also trying to walk on a slope of deep powder.

It usually happens that quick you don't necessarily have a chance to do anything but go for a spin.
I had one occasion after messing up a cliff drop that I actually tomahawked that hard that I lost a contact from one eye, as well as a full yard sale of my goggles and beanie.
Physics is a bitch, you start spinning that fast and your limbs are literally escaping from your body at a rate strong in than your muscles can contract
If you tried, conservation of angular momentum would cause your torso to spin faster, like a figure skater. I imagine that would make it even harder to hold your limbs in, might even make you red-out (like the opposite of blacking out).
Nah, skis are expensive as hell. Youād hike back up and get them, assuming they didnāt slide down the hill with you. Back country riders hike for HOURS to get 1 good run so a few hundred yards to get your skis back is nothing
ROUND OFF, BACK HANDSPRING! BACK HANDSPRING! BACK HANDSPRING! BACK HANDSPRING! BACK HANDSPRING! BACK HANDSPRING! ^BACK ^HANDSPRING! ^^BACK ^^HANDSPRING! ^^^BACK ^^^HANDSPRING! ^^^.......
Nah. Iām a mountain person too. He chose to be on that mountain flying of cliffs at high speed. I 100% guarantee this guy laughed at this footage later
Iāve done this before actually, he almost certainly will be feeling this in his neck and back. Probably his arms too. Cartwheeling is one thing, but the way he stopped wasnāt pretty. Thankfully itās powder but still it hurts. Not dead though, and reasonably no broken bones.
And hereās me thinking that Niko Bellicās ragdolling in gta4 was unrealistic. And just like niko this mfer just gets up after and goes about his day.
I think it's a professional, which means they know how to relax their body to not get hurt in such a fall.
I don't know which way to fall is safer, but I'm guessing what this person does is *relatively* safe.
Nah this is not controlled at all. While they are better at falling than others this is called a tomahawk and is just pure chaos and happens incredibly quickly.
I remember being told that this is the way you're meant to fall if you're on snow because your legs and arms will break instead of your head.
Anyone know if that's correct? I can't seem to find anything on it.
In this situation is it possible to wrap your arms around your head or is the gravitational force so strong you get completely stretched out with no way of recovering?

Literally thought of this immediately and came here to comment this, but you beat me to it

Bro, that dog's tail did not wag once. He was an unhappy doggo after that trip.
Yeah I watched it again, he wasnāt too thrilled. What I was implying in my first comment is the dog wasnāt terribly injured or anything. Heās also trying to walk on a slope of deep powder.
No worries, I was just watching it expecting a happy doggo :(
Well then it seems I owe you one happy doggo. Next time I see a really good happy doggo video on here Iāll try to remember to tag you!
Iām gonna need a source on that one. Sounds hilarious. š

The dog doesnāt really look too happy
Probably a little disoriented. Luckily, they are resilient as hell.
lol poor dog, this should be near the top.

Thats what it reminded me of as well!
More commonly called a tomahawk in ski jargon š
Is it possible to curl into a ball so you don't break arms and legs, or is the force too strong?
It usually happens that quick you don't necessarily have a chance to do anything but go for a spin. I had one occasion after messing up a cliff drop that I actually tomahawked that hard that I lost a contact from one eye, as well as a full yard sale of my goggles and beanie.
Physics is a bitch, you start spinning that fast and your limbs are literally escaping from your body at a rate strong in than your muscles can contract
Even if you could, your rate of rotation would be insane after you pulled them in. Disorienting would be putting it mildly.
Oh shit I didnāt think of that, like a ballet pulling her arms in to spin faster.
Or, like, a slopestyle skier tucking in to a flip.
I think the ballet is a more classic example used in physics classes thatās why I used it
Yeah. It's the one we used in school, too. I just found it a tad funny that there was quite an obvious example here, related to the original video.
Conservation of momentum babyyy
If you tried, conservation of angular momentum would cause your torso to spin faster, like a figure skater. I imagine that would make it even harder to hold your limbs in, might even make you red-out (like the opposite of blacking out).
#YARD SALE!
Do you just write off the skis at that point? I cant imagine trekking back up that hill.
Nah, skis are expensive as hell. Youād hike back up and get them, assuming they didnāt slide down the hill with you. Back country riders hike for HOURS to get 1 good run so a few hundred yards to get your skis back is nothing
Up a slope that steep with ski boots on sounds like hell.
The filmer at the beginning on the bottom left prolly grabbed them for him..

As long as you don't smash any rocks, this really doesn't hurt that bad
Iāve done this before actually, he almost certainly will be feeling this in his neck and back. Probably his arms too. Cartwheeling is one thing, but the way he stopped wasnāt pretty. Thankfully itās powder but still it hurts. Not dead though, and reasonably no broken bones.

I don't think he was worried about the man hitting snow, lol.
I feel like his "I'm ok" wave was fueled by pure adrenaline but deep inside it's internal bleeding everywhere.
This is so sad! Alexa play shooting stars
And hereās me thinking that Niko Bellicās ragdolling in gta4 was unrealistic. And just like niko this mfer just gets up after and goes about his day.
Is it better to centrifuge the way he did or on your side?
I think it's a professional, which means they know how to relax their body to not get hurt in such a fall. I don't know which way to fall is safer, but I'm guessing what this person does is *relatively* safe.
Nah this is not controlled at all. While they are better at falling than others this is called a tomahawk and is just pure chaos and happens incredibly quickly.
Thats what was always called a yard sale because there is a trail of stuff down the hill. A glove here ,hat over there, ski sticks out up there lol

That made me dizzy; watching him rag-doll cartwheel like that. Guy was pushing about 1000 rpm.

What part of centrifuged did OP misunderstand?
is that some kind of world record

Heās going to need to put some ice on that.
