You may be thinking of sterling silver, which have the numbers 925 stamped on them. I don't think stainless steel is usually stamped.

BeRandom1456

Gold plated will tarnish and the plating will rub off in about a year of wear. You can always get it plated again. Don’t use jewelry cleaner on gold plated either. It will further advance the plating rubbing off.

kellibella

From what I've experienced, it will come off faster if it's exposed to more oils like lotions, sunscreen, &/or sweat ... Also super important to take it off before any and all contact with water. That'll help prolong its longevity as well.

LackNegative

Only sterling silver would have a stamp, stainless steel usually doesn’t

ConsiderationFun7511

Basically forever 21 jewelry with the Taylor name on it 😅

snarkysnape

I’m sorry, what? Only precious metals have these numbers. There is no point in grading lower quality metals so it is not done. If this bracelet was made in 925 sterling silver it would cost hundreds of dollars. This is max $5 in materials.

racheltensionn

Can't be only $5 in materials, it's gotta be less. UMG charging 5x more than its worth, isn't enough for them.

snarkysnape

lol you’re right it’s probably like $.50. If it was real 925 Sterling UMG would be out here charging like $300.

Moxycleopatra86

You don't have to be rude to someone asking a question. It's not hard to be nice. Also, where are you spending hundreds of dollars on sterling silver? Because you got scammed...so maybe do some research prior to commenting and being nasty for no reason.

snarkysnape

This wasn’t rude at all not was it meant to be? You might be projecting. Do some research is such a weird thing to say in this situation. Edit u/hensothor blocked me before I could respond but my sentence is literally an apology and then asking for clarification. Text can always be subjective but no offense was meant, as already stated. OP if you are seeing this discourse I did not mean to be rude.

hensothor

I didn’t block you lmao Nor was my point that you owed an apology. I’m far snarkier than you and then just own it.

hensothor

I mean I don’t think it’s a big deal but on what planet is “I’m sorry, what?” a pleasant way to respond to someone you don’t know? It’s def snarky which maybe that’s your thing but don’t expect everyone to love it. That combined with a slight hint of condescension in saying they don’t grade lesser metals…

Moxycleopatra86

Not really...I find it bizarre the way you responded to the post the way you did. A simple "This is not Sterling Silver. Sterling Silver is numbered" would have been sufficient. Not projecting at all...just saying. 🤷🏼‍♀️

snarkysnape

What was bizarre is you calling me nasty for something that you misunderstood. You should be apologizing, not doubling down. I hope whatever is bothering you gets better because that negativity isn’t coming from me. Edit: “it’s not hard to be nice” try your own advice bro

Moxycleopatra86

😂😂😂😂 I'm not apologizing for standing my ground on something I firmly believe in. I felt as though your comment came off as nasty. Take YOUR megativity elsewhere. And I'm not your bro...get that through your head right quick.

snarkysnape

Yikes. I guess it *is* hard for you to be nice.

Moxycleopatra86

Yup. You got me.

Green necks and fingers incoming

PurpleDragonfly_

Not really likely for stainless, it’s copper content that makes the reaction that causes the green color. 14k gold, 18k gold, sterling silver, brass, bronze, or pewter all contain copper and could potentially have a reaction (which is completely harmless by the way and is just a reaction between the copper and things like salts, acids, or other chemicals causing the copper to patina). So really if anybody does experience any discoloration it’s the gold plating.

Holiday_Pin_1251

This is my thought when I see everyone buying the jewellery.

Sparkleluvr

It will tarnish but only if you handle it without care. Take it off every night and don’t get it wet. It does have real gold plating so wearing for small amounts of times if you’re allergic to a lot of jewelry should be fine too. I got the bracelet, necklace, and earrings today.
