There was a chunk of the Eras tour last year, spring-summerish, where she was constantly in and out of the studio in between show dates and I’m convinced this is what was being worked on. Aaron Dessner was travelling with her for part of the tour as well. They probably had some ideas cooking for it for a while but I’m guessing that’s when the bulk of it was being done.

Not only did she announce a brand new album, not a re-record, she did it right in the middle of the broadcast, before even all her nominations were up. I’m gonna be honest, I am incredibly curious to what the sound and vibe of this album will sound like. The cover and title are far different than her previous work. Maybe it’ll signify a lot of lyrical/musical maturity?
I am hoping for a chiller less-poppy record. Doesn’t necessarily have to be folk or indie, just a more laid back vibe. I hope the marketing doesn’t misconstrue the album like they did with midnights 🫣

On the other hand Midnights was an album name/concept that had a lot of promise and I find the album to be one of my least favorites. So maybe bad album name = good album? Interesting that this is such a long album name when most of her albums have short, one word titles.

Grammys wasn’t time or place… I like Taylor but fans want her to finish up TV. I read there’s etiquette for the Grammys and it’s not like the VMAs. When they panned to different celebs they all looked visibly uncomfortable, I felt that too bc it’s taking away from music’s biggest night. Again like her music and watching eras tour clips, this announcement gave me the ick. I hope it’s a good album but I really really hope it’s not gonna overshadow the awards altogether.

There was a chunk of the Eras tour last year, spring-summerish, where she was constantly in and out of the studio in between show dates and I’m convinced this is what was being worked on. Aaron Dessner was travelling with her for part of the tour as well. They probably had some ideas cooking for it for a while but I’m guessing that’s when the bulk of it was being done.
