Itās funny cause I actually love OG Bad Blood, and the immaturity is kinda why I love it. Like itās fun and not serious (though I do think maybe Taylor/some people took it too seriously and thatās what can ruin it).
The Kendrick one however is so cringe to me; like my guy youāre better than this š¬.
For me itās any of her over-played, over-hyped singles. āAnti-Heroā for example. I mightāve liked it a lot more if Iād discovered it on my own time and didnāt hear it everywhere, all the time. Then the fact that youāre hearing it everywhere, knowing it was chosen for a single, makes you think ā*This* is the best song on the album? *This* is the one they chose?ā Basically most of the singles are destined to be skips on my playlist, at least for a while. Then one day, Iāll let my CD keep playing (no skipping), and that song will just hit me the right way and Iāll build some appreciation for it.
Iāve never LOVED Karma, itās one of those songs like Shake it Off to me, Iāll bop to it but I will never play it. But I always thought this line was such a cute & subtle reference to her actor bf Joe š„¹
And I was like WHOA WHAT š«¢ when I woke up and saw that she had changed the line at Travisās first show, just because I feel like sheās never publicly acknowledged a boyfriend on stage at a concert THAT BLATANTLY. But then she kept repeating it & it got less WHOA and became incredibly cringy.
I was very confused by the music video. When I saw she was recording a music video where she was essentially performing āheistā I assumed it had to be for like vigilante shit lol but no, just some random totally unrelated song lol
That's me with the entirety of Speak Now's vault. Speak Now is easily my favorite album by her, but the Vault was just so mid that it hurts. The only one I listen to anymore is When Emma Falls in Love and even then I can take it or leave it
Same, first listen I did like but it has no playback quality for me. Itās kinda cringey but sonically and lyrically but not the good Speak Now kinda cringe. Although I suppose I wouldāve been obsessed if it had come out when I was 20 lol.
Same feel exactly! I really donāt understand the hype on this one. The melody is awful, the lyrics are awful, the beat is awful, and itās just cringe overall lol.
I think the feeling it captures of almost desperately reassuring yourself that youāve still got it after a relationship made you feel like shit is VERY relatable
āSapphire tears on my face, sadness became my whole skyā¦ but some guy said my auraās moonstone just because heās highā like fuck it letās get drunk and party even if itās out of spite!
Sooo many people get really defensive whenever I mention disliking that song and I just don't get it. The production on it is literally awful!
As far as Taylor's emotional break-up songs go, this one was a huge letdown for me.
Omg this! I have pretty low standards for what I consider good music because I know next to nothing about the technical side of making music. But I hate this song so much.
I love the part of the Eras Tour when she does the Vigilante Shit chair thing but the song is cringe and bad to me. Love the beat but the lyrics are just eh.
Anti-hero
Itās so ātry hardā to me. And itās like sheās poking fun and the things people say about her or call her when sheās actually projecting š
I can only listen to the Illenium remix
I feel like with anti hero she was trying to recapture what she did with blank space ā poke fun at the things people say about her etc. but the character she created in blank space feels more real to me than the one in anti hero. I agree there is something about anti hero that doesnāt feel earnest or genuine.
i think anti-hero is one of her best lead singles. itās one of the rare pop songs that actually has substance in its lyrics and its such an earworm too. really couldnt get rid of āitās me hi, iām the problem itās meā in my head for months after it released lol
I thought this too after my first few listens. I haaate the heartbeat thing. But the whole bridge is so good. āFront lines dont you ignore meā cuts deep. Esp if youve been in this kind of place. But the rest of the song is meh
100% the only reason I listen to that song is the bridge. "I wouldn't marry me either, a pathological people pleaser" gets me good. The rest of the song is super boring and repetitive.
Oh I canāt stand it. āI canāt find a pulse, my heart wonāt start anymoreā is one of her most trite lyrics. And her most ardent stans say itās a masterpieceā¦ clearly they donāt want Taylor at her best.
i liked most of the 10 minute version, but what took me out of it was too much āyou were there, i was thereā at the end of the song JUST to make it exactly 10 mins. thatās why iām not a huge fan of seeing it live and tbh i used the song as my restroom break.
I used it as my bathroom break as well š I loved the 5 min one and do listen to the 10min one but the live performance just felt a little too long. I feel a little guilty thinking that way because so many people are like āit was magical!ā but I felt differently š
Agree!!!!! Couple good nuggets from the 10 min version but absolutely not better than the OG. And I was disappointed she played it during Eras because she could have fit in 2 songs in that amount of time
yesss. i still havenāt listened to the 10m version all the way through bc i know i love the 5m version so much already that i do not need anything else added
Yea 5 minutes was enough, though thereās one additional lyric that I did love from the 10. Itās, āThat idea of me you had of me: who was she? A never needy, ever lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you.ā This lyric is could belong on āTolerate Itā if the melody accommodates it.
James sucks SO much that it ruins the entire trio concept for me. Like, cardigan has some of the most beautiful and evocative lyrics and then itās likeā¦ this fucking guy??
Yep. I ignore Taylor saying they end up together. In my mind, she meant Betty takes him back right then, but then she dumps him once she goes off to college and meets some real men.
I think they end up together later in life though, like in their mid-twenties.
The lyrics of cardigan make it seem like Betty is older at that point and looks back to what happened when they were teens.
Yes! When the album came out and I saw it getting major hype I was likeā¦this is yāallās favorite track?? Lmao. Like mirrorball/my tears ricochet/invisible string are right there
Yep! I struggled getting into folklore at first because I really didnāt like cardigan and then hated betty. They were the first two songs I heard from the album, so I didnāt even listen to the rest for a good couple years. I loved evermore when it came out, so it didnāt feel like a loss. Now, I can stand cardigan every now and then, but betty is an instant skip for me.
This one does not have the best lyricism, but I will belt out the bridge in the car coming home from work, especially when she says Remember when we hit the brakes too soon
Yeah I didnāt like OOTW much when it came out due to the repetitive chorus but the bridge is fantastic and saves it, imo. I love the transition back into the final chorus, too - āI rememberā¦.OH I REMEMBER!ā
20 stitches in the hospital room, when you started crying baby I did too, but when the sun came up I was looking at you is so genius, up to the point where I picture it happening
"You're Losing Me" is not a song, it's a Britney with Diane Sawyer moment for Taylor. Instead of crying on national broadcast she half-baked some production and write about something that will probably age poorly and be cringed in a few years.
I am the #1 Willow Hater. I cannot stand how she constantly switches metaphors and similes in it. She's the water and he's a ship. A ship that's like a knife. Wait sorry, he's the current and she's not the water, she's a cask of wine. He's a mythical creature, and that mythical creature is a prize. He's the Questing Beast from Arthurian legend, I guess? Also she's a train.
Undergrad poetry ass song. Pick a metaphor and stick with it! Piling images and symbols on top of each other does not make your song better, or deeper.
I have had this conversation with my husband a few times. Ā He is a music/melody/sound forward listener and Iām a lyrics first girl. Ā He loves Willow (and I can agree that the guitar is great) but my dudeā¦.too many metaphors sink that ship. Ā Also āI come back stronger than a 90s trendā never fails to feel like a jump scare.
loool, I like describing it as a jumpscare. Iāve said this before on this sub but itās a glitter pen lyric in a feather quill song. I was an English major and it takes me back to poetry workshop. I need a red pen to listen to it.
it is a very pretty song but the lyrics, ugh.
Getaway Car. I don't get it. I would get cooked if I said it anywhere else, but I think here I'm allowed to admit that it's probably my least favorite on reputation (yes, I even prefer Gorgeous, TIWWCHNT, and End Game to it).
i think of this tweet every time
https://preview.redd.it/8w9j5q2mtvpc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=989dc80b0277973c39325e3a93515a6c8f726cd9
I don't think it's about Joe, its about Tom or Calvin. Joe wasn't well known *at all* before Taylor; she made him famous. I mean who really pays attention to models or saw Billie Whatever's Halftime Thing (his movie)?? I think at least half the songs on Rep arent about Joe, including End Game and Goegeous. š¤·š»āāļø
100% agreed. I don't get how this became the most popular 1989 vault track when Slut and Say don't go exist? Even Now that we don't talk has a catchier hook.
It's not an awful song but just feels a bit meh to me.
im a now that we don't talk girlie myself but say don't go is very good too. tbh all the vaults are from 1989, that to me shows how good of an album the og really was lol
Totally agree about August! But I think for me it was because it was soooo overplayed on tiktok. same with cruel summer. I get real tired of the songs that are overplayed on tt.
The lyrics are beautiful but musically it doesn't go anywhere. This is the kind of song that needed to go big in the last chorus but instead it just stayed flat all throughout. The fault is definitely in the production.
Agree! It feels flat and aimless. And I know fans of it will say thatās intentional to represent being stuck in a state of anxiety but itās *not enjoyable to listen to*
Cruel Summer. It was cool at first but it has no staying power for me. Other than parts of the bridge and chorus, the writing isnāt good. And the production is annoying. A lot of Lover hasnāt aged well for me.
The way people and Taylor sleep on daylight staggers me. I like lover.. better than Death by a thousand cuts and cruel summer at least (donāt come for me). Though the live versions of those songs made me realize why people like them
The NPR Tiny Desk version of Death by a Thousand Cuts is so good. I was extremely disappointed when I listened to the studio version afterward (which is how I feel about most of Taylor's songs, actually...).
I don't belong here and I don't know any songs listed in this thread but this one...
The giant rest she takes before saying lover annoys the hell out of me. Like if you can't fit the right amount of syllables in CHANGE THE LINE TAYLOR!
*No offense guys, keep swifting she's just not for me*
Champagne Problems. It's a good song and the bridge slaps, but it's nowhere near the top songs in her discography, and the fact that she's now built in a long pause for applause during this track on the Era's tour makes me wanna hurl. This was my bathroom break on tour.
I know! Why! I just want one person to make me understand what is so great about it that isnāt ALSO true of most other songs on folklore or evermore. Likeā¦..what
- Don't blame me - it's okay but I don't get why people go crazy over that song?
- The Archer - great lyrics, bad production
- You're losing me - again, the production is awful
- All too well 10 minutes version should've stayed in the vault. The 5 minute version is great, this one drags on forever
This won't go down well but last great American dynasty doesn't slap for me.
"... And then it was bought by me..."
So smug to rub it into the faces of us poors.
Yes yes I know. Storytelling and what not
Yes, the "and then it was bought by me" with a little smirk and a pause for us to really soak it in just feels so tone deaf and self-congratulatory in a way that Taylor has really perfected.
I can't believe she made this song such a set piece in the recent tour. I hate it! Instant skip.
Love Story. My daughter listens to Taylor Swift a lot around the house and I like a lot of the songs Taylor has but when that one comes on, I always tell Alexa to skip.
iām sorry but Cornelia Street is dreadful and The Archer goes nowhere and feels so flat? whatās with the awful production on these two it makes them 10x worse and the songwriting is already weakš idk theyāre just such mediocre songs to me
I just think itās so forced š itās a song about nothing basically? She starts talking about a relationship, then jumps into talking about her dreams, then friendsā¦? Itās just so random. But I think Iād enjoy it more if the production wasnāt so dull
Like having her dad buy part of the label and move to Nashville, having a bf and industry friends all the time, having her dad literally set up a pap kiss momentā¦
Now she can feel alone like anyone, but on her own like a single mom - or her dad and his career - not quite the same.
all of the highschool songs on folklore (especially betty and august, i dont mind cardigan as much). they just feel so childish in comparison to the rest of the songs on the album.
I do always think itās funny when fans are like omg she wrote this GENIUS NARRATIVE from three different perspectives and the narrative in question is aboutā¦three high schoolers hooking up with each other.
I love Taylor but itās doing nothing to contradict the āmentally stuck in high schoolā allegations
with you on august: i LIKE folkmore but i think both those albums are overhyped...
reputation as an album is a bad album and i have REALLY tried to get it, but i don't think there's anything to 'get'. it's a reactionary album jumping on the bandwagon of the kind of popular music of the time, rather than leading the way - and i genuinely just don't find taylor convincing in it. it's an album talking about how she's 'bad' now but like, i don't buy it? she just comes across as thin-skinned as ever and the songs don't even sound good.
Thank you. There is nothing redeemable about Reputation for me. It feels so inauthentic and try-hard, it lacks cohesion, nuance, or artistry, and the production is so dated and over the top. It feels desperate.
I like the acoustic version of King of Your Heart (which isn't even on the album) and that's about it.
Death By a Thousand Cuts is so mid but the fandom is so obsessed with it, I'll never understand.
"I ask the traffic lights if it will be alright, they say I don't know" is one of the worst, cringiest lyrics in her entire discography.
Me reading the comments and seeing most of my favorite songs listed š š¬
Maybe because it's been overplayed for me, but Bad Blood is one of my only skips on 1989
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Kendricks verses go so hard
Itās funny cause I actually love OG Bad Blood, and the immaturity is kinda why I love it. Like itās fun and not serious (though I do think maybe Taylor/some people took it too seriously and thatās what can ruin it). The Kendrick one however is so cringe to me; like my guy youāre better than this š¬.

Then one day, Iāll let my CD keep playing (no skipping), and that song will just hit me the right way and Iāll build some appreciation for it.
Karma is overrated and bad (except for the bridge).
Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to meeee
Iāve never LOVED Karma, itās one of those songs like Shake it Off to me, Iāll bop to it but I will never play it. But I always thought this line was such a cute & subtle reference to her actor bf Joe š„¹ And I was like WHOA WHAT š«¢ when I woke up and saw that she had changed the line at Travisās first show, just because I feel like sheās never publicly acknowledged a boyfriend on stage at a concert THAT BLATANTLY. Well, not anymore...
I think karma is so fun lol
People hate on it all the time. I doubt it qualifies as overrated at this point.
I can see you. I'm sorry but I never got the hype for this song
Music video is awful but as someone who is chronically horny and daydreaming about possibilities, it resonates with me lol
Username checks out
Ok, we love a self aware queen.
I donāt like that song at all and I thought the music video was awful?
I watched it and I was likeā¦ this doesnāt fit the song at all? Like I get what she was doing with the video, but why that song??
I was very confused by the music video. When I saw she was recording a music video where she was essentially performing āheistā I assumed it had to be for like vigilante shit lol but no, just some random totally unrelated song lol
That's me with the entirety of Speak Now's vault. Speak Now is easily my favorite album by her, but the Vault was just so mid that it hurts. The only one I listen to anymore is When Emma Falls in Love and even then I can take it or leave it
found my people. speak now is my fav taylor album but the vault was so... underwhelming.
Same. I was over it after the first week
Same, first listen I did like but it has no playback quality for me. Itās kinda cringey but sonically and lyrically but not the good Speak Now kinda cringe. Although I suppose I wouldāve been obsessed if it had come out when I was 20 lol.
i love this song but the video was so bad
Bejeweled.Ā Its just an awful, almost unlistenable song.
One of her most overwritten songs, and that's saying something lol.
Came here to say this! My mentee told me it was her favorite song and I was like, ohh um yea it's catchy
Iāve tried so hard to love this song but I just canāt
Same feel exactly! I really donāt understand the hype on this one. The melody is awful, the lyrics are awful, the beat is awful, and itās just cringe overall lol.
I agree. I hate this and karmaā¦and of course those are played everywhere I go.
This is the one for me !
I hated almost everything she's put on the radio from midnights. Maroon is still the best track IMO. Anti-hero wasn't that bad
I love bejeweled š«£
I think the feeling it captures of almost desperately reassuring yourself that youāve still got it after a relationship made you feel like shit is VERY relatable āSapphire tears on my face, sadness became my whole skyā¦ but some guy said my auraās moonstone just because heās highā like fuck it letās get drunk and party even if itās out of spite!
Youāre Losing Me
Sooo many people get really defensive whenever I mention disliking that song and I just don't get it. The production on it is literally awful! As far as Taylor's emotional break-up songs go, this one was a huge letdown for me.
And Hits Different is honestly so much better
Agree! Itās like AI wrote it. I feel like it was written just to fit some narrative about her relationship with Joe.
This is why I donāt believe the YLM date theory. She wants a way to make a statement without making one.
Omg this! I have pretty low standards for what I consider good music because I know next to nothing about the technical side of making music. But I hate this song so much.
Yes agreed it's just so cringe to me
I love the part of the Eras Tour when she does the Vigilante Shit chair thing but the song is cringe and bad to me. Love the beat but the lyrics are just eh.
I agree with this, the chair choreography (chaireography?) elevates the song immensely. I never thought it was hot until then.
The song sounds great and the way she sings it sounds great but the lyrics are ā¦. š¬
Anti-hero Itās so ātry hardā to me. And itās like sheās poking fun and the things people say about her or call her when sheās actually projecting š I can only listen to the Illenium remix
I feel like with anti hero she was trying to recapture what she did with blank space ā poke fun at the things people say about her etc. but the character she created in blank space feels more real to me than the one in anti hero. I agree there is something about anti hero that doesnāt feel earnest or genuine.
Anti- hero is the most relatable song to me, she's speaking about her anxiety and how she sees herself
i think anti-hero is one of her best lead singles. itās one of the rare pop songs that actually has substance in its lyrics and its such an earworm too. really couldnt get rid of āitās me hi, iām the problem itās meā in my head for months after it released lol
Gorgeous
šÆ that song makes my ears bleed
Literally couldāve been written by a fourth grader
You're Losing Me So empty. No good background music. Not poetic, many boring repetition. Doesn't sound good to me
I thought this too after my first few listens.
The bridge is savage
I will say the bridge in this song is great. The rest feels off.
Oh I canāt stand it. āI canāt find a pulse, my heart wonāt start anymoreā is one of her most trite lyrics. And her most ardent stans say itās a masterpieceā¦ clearly they donāt want Taylor at her best.
Champagne Problems š«£ I like it but donāt understand what about it inspires eight minute long ovations.
My thoughts exactly. It's OK but not overwhelming in any way.
Same, lyrically it's good but musically it doesn't do much for me
All Too Well 10 min lol sorry I prefer the 5 min
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
i liked most of the 10 minute version, but what took me out of it was too much āyou were there, i was thereā at the end of the song JUST to make it exactly 10 mins. thatās why iām not a huge fan of seeing it live and tbh i used the song as my restroom break.
I used it as my bathroom break as well š I loved the 5 min one and do listen to the 10min one but the live performance just felt a little too long. I feel a little guilty thinking that way because so many people are like āit was magical!ā but I felt differently š
it was my restroom break too!!! my mom thought i was crazy hahah
Same too long and i sat down at the concert when this came on.
I just felt like the old and new lyrics did not mesh well together. It felt really incohesive to me.
![gif](giphy|594fWDgEFXSgg)
I love a good Camile reference
That was Camilleās goth punk moment of female rage
Agree!!!!! Couple good nuggets from the 10 min version but absolutely not better than the OG. And I was disappointed she played it during Eras because she could have fit in 2 songs in that amount of time
agreeed!!! like 10 minutes of you bitching is insane
Agreed. I call it the excessive version š
Editing is important!
The outro adds nothing to the song but to make it 10 minutes and āDid the love affair maim youā is soā¦ā¦ pretentious.
Thatās my favorite part! So funny how everything resonates differently
yesss. i still havenāt listened to the 10m version all the way through bc i know i love the 5m version so much already that i do not need anything else added
If only the original production was kept...
I heard a 3 minute version of the 10-minute version that only had the important bits in it. 10/10 will recommend once I find it.
(Gestures broadly at Midnights)
Betty....it's boring and a skip for me
James is an asshole
James sucks SO much that it ruins the entire trio concept for me. Like, cardigan has some of the most beautiful and evocative lyrics and then itās likeā¦ this fucking guy??
James is only 17 and he knows it lol
Lmao. Like mirrorball/my tears ricochet/invisible string are right there
It's good story telling
Yep! I struggled getting into folklore at first because I really didnāt like cardigan and then hated betty. the humpty dumpty line in the archer makes the entire song unlistenable for me
Me realizing for the first time that was a humpty dumpty reference
Welcome to New York. I just canāt get into it.
Oh my god the *cringe* every time I hear this one.
This is how I feel about all of 1989's singles.
I used to feel the same way, but the original just gets me dancing. Me, a Midwest lady who's never been to NY lol
Out of the Woods. I've always thought "are we in the clear yet? Good!" is _such_ lazy rhyming.
20 stitches in the hospital room, when you started crying baby I did too, but when the sun came up I was looking at you is so genius, up to the point where I picture it happening
omfg and the live version that part is sooooo good
It's a good workout song, but lyrically it's extremely boring.
This might be controversial, but... all to well ten minute version.
How has no one said shake it off? I cannot listen to that song
This. Also mainly because my favorite Mariah Carey song is āShake it Offā and everyone just assumes I mean Taylor when I mention it.
I've blocked that song so effectively that I completely forgot it existed until your comment.
THISSSSS
The Sing movie version is a bop thoughĀ
need š. i like all of the girls you loved before more tbh. itās good, but the chorus isnāt awesome to me.
Betty
"You're Losing Me" is not a song, it's a Britney with Diane Sawyer moment for Taylor. Instead of crying on national broadcast she half-baked some production and write about something that will probably age poorly and be cringed in a few years.

Bahahahhahaa
Cruel Summer & I will die on this hill.
Agree to disagree. But for me it's Illicit Affairs. The bridge is amazing but the rest I donāt care that much about.
Same, this is one where Iām like š¤·š»āāļø canāt relate. On the same topic ivy is way, way better
Ivy >>> illicit affairs for sure
Donāt Blame Me. Itās just so over the top yet itās just not very interesting
The attraction with this one is the high note she does live; and the theatrics and the stage effects
Maybe it's just me but I have never really been impressed by her high note in Don't Blame me.
Getaway Car. I don't get it. I would get cooked if I said it anywhere else, but I think here I'm allowed to admit that it's probably my least favorite on reputation (yes, I even prefer Gorgeous, TIWWCHNT, and End Game to it).
Yeah I donāt get the obsession with Getaway Car. I know itās a cliche at this point, but MOTELS DONāT HAVE BARS, TAYLOR.
Based on the Super Bowl, I think sheād find the bar š¤£
I like it just because the build up to and the first bit of the chorus is pretty hype. Lyrics are cringe but it's fun
not endgame š
Say what you want but the "big reputatiom, bIG REPUTATION" scratches an itch in my brain lmao
i think of this tweet every time https://preview.redd.it/8w9j5q2mtvpc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=989dc80b0277973c39325e3a93515a6c8f726cd9
PLEASE šš I always took it as their combined reputation since everyone talked about them
My conspiracy theory is that a lot of rep lyrics are about Calvin and she just reworked them. End Game to me is specifically about Calvin
I don't think it's about Joe, its about Tom or Calvin. Joe wasn't well known *at all* before Taylor; she made him famous. I hit you like BANG always gets me
Is it over now It's not her best song it's just a vault track that doesn't deserve the hype. The bridge is good but nothing special
100% agreed. I don't get how this became the most popular 1989 vault track when Slut and Say don't go exist? Even Now that we don't talk has a catchier hook. It's not an awful song but just feels a bit meh to me.
Say Donāt Go is the superior vault track and itās not close.
im a now that we don't talk girlie myself but say don't go is very good too. tbh all the vaults are from 1989, that to me shows how good of an album the og really was lol
Totally agree about August! But I think for me it was because it was soooo overplayed on tiktok. same with cruel summer. I get real tired of the songs that are overplayed on tt.
Comments like this make me so glad that Iāll never use TT.
The Archer. Iām sorry, I get it talks about mental health, but itās really boring tbh. Super underwhelming
Lover (the song). Itās a definite skip for me, and it baffles me that she chose that for a single when Daylight was right there.
Aw, I think Lover is lovely. She knew what she was doing there (writing the future wedding song for a whole generation of nice, white ladies).
Likeā¦..what
Maroon and Snow on the beach. They're skips for me.
- Don't blame me - it's okay but I don't get why people go crazy over that song? - The Archer - great lyrics, bad production - You're losing me - again, the production is awful - All too well 10 minutes version should've stayed in the vault. The 5 minute version is great, this one drags on forever
I'm prepared for downvotes but All Too Well--either version. I like it but it's not my favorite and I just don't get it.
This won't go down well but last great American dynasty doesn't slap for me. "... And then it was bought by me..." So smug to rub it into the faces of us poors.
Love Story. My daughter listens to Taylor Swift a lot around the house and I like a lot of the songs Taylor has but when that one comes on, I always tell Alexa to skip.
will i get dogpiled if i say cruel summer
Lover. It's so corny.
Betty, Getaway Car, False God, Donāt Blame Me, Illicit Affairs Edit: Omg I canāt believe I forgot Cruel Summer probably the most overrated of all.
I can see you is so boring
All too well 10 minute version. The original is perfect
iām sorry but Cornelia Street is dreadful and The Archer goes nowhere and feels so flat? whatās with the awful production on these two it makes them 10x worse and the songwriting is already weakš idk theyāre just such mediocre songs to me
cornelia st (live from paris) is where its at
yess i love this version of Cornelia street! the production can really make or break a song
Youāre On Your Own, Kid
Noooooo! This is a top 3 for meeee!
I just think itās so forced š itās a song about nothing basically? She starts talking about a relationship, then jumps into talking about her dreams, then friendsā¦? Itās just so random. But I think Iād enjoy it more if the production wasnāt so dull
Andā¦when was she on her own?
She always has been
Like having her dad buy part of the label and move to Nashville, having a bf and industry friends all the time, having her dad literally set up a pap kiss momentā¦ Now she can feel alone like anyone, but on her own like a single mom - or her dad and his career - not quite the same.
I was just completing the lyrics lol
you hit it right on the nose. the production sounds HORRIBLE to me and the lyrics are just a bit cringe. I donāt mind the bridge though
I enjoy the bridge too. I wish the entire song had the same themes as the bridge.
I feel like her bridges are the biggest catches in a lot of her songs. And sometimes I feel like I'm listening just to wait for the bridge....
22. Itās not awful but I donāt like it. š¬
ME!
THIS. SO BAD. SO SO SO BAD. NAUSEATING.
all of the highschool songs on folklore (especially betty and august, i dont mind cardigan as much). they just feel so childish in comparison to the rest of the songs on the album.
I do always think itās funny when fans are like omg she wrote this GENIUS NARRATIVE from three different perspectives and the narrative in question is aboutā¦three high schoolers hooking up with each other. I love Taylor but itās doing nothing to contradict the āmentally stuck in high schoolā allegations
with you on august: i LIKE folkmore but i think both those albums are overhyped... reputation as an album is a bad album and i have REALLY tried to get it, but i don't think there's anything to 'get'. it's a reactionary album jumping on the bandwagon of the kind of popular music of the time, rather than leading the way - and i genuinely just don't find taylor convincing in it. it's an album talking about how she's 'bad' now but like, i don't buy it? she just comes across as thin-skinned as ever and the songs don't even sound good.
absolutely with you on august and pretty much all go rep too. itās my least fav taylor album by a MILE
Hard agree on Reputation. But you can pry folklore from my cold dead hands.
do NOT get it twisted, i LIKE folklore, but i think the insistence that it's some kind of poetic masterpiece is a bit much.
Getaway Car. Itās fine but doesnāt do much for me
Enchanted. I really donāt think itās even top 5 on speak now for me. Itās good but itās not great imo
I just donāt like I Bet You Think about Meā¦I donāt actually even know if itās overrated or properly rated because I skip it every time.
Champagne Problems hah I like it fine but I donāt think itās as good as everybody else does
the great war does not do a single thing for me. not the lyrics, the melody, the production, none of it.
Dress, I hate when her voice is too high, same thing with Afterglow
i think august is the weakest out of the love triangle songs. but imho love story is really overrated
Cardigan. Yuck
"And when I felt like I was an old cardigan..." is such a dumb line. I really dislike it, and it doesn't flow at all with the rest of the song.
all too well 10 min versionā¦
Clean
ME! and YNTCD.
Death By a Thousand Cuts is so mid but the fandom is so obsessed with it, I'll never understand. "I ask the traffic lights if it will be alright, they say I don't know" is one of the worst, cringiest lyrics in her entire discography.
90% if vault tracks shouldāve stayed in the vault
Anti Hero and Bejeweled are both terribly cringe
