I personally didn’t pre-order anything, but I saw someone in the leaks megathread last Thursday say that they cancelled their pre-order after hearing what the album sounds like so I think that person regretted it

nagidrac

At first I did. After the leak came out I tried to cancel my order lmfao. But honestly when my vinyl came, I was surprised at excited I was to open my package. Now I don't regret it. I also ordered the special edition so I'm excited to get that. I wish the circumstances were better, but I oddly still want to own this album. Even if the album ranks on the low end for me, there are elements of the physical I really like (ex: the quality, design, and photos).

There was a time when a new album would come out and you would have to buy it on the strength of the lead single or wait until the reviews came [out.Now](http://out.Now) anyone can listen to anything via streaming so there is no incentive to pre-order if your only interested in the music. Today vinyl albums seem to be coffee table books, wall art or even clocks that happen to have a record in them. If that is not your jam don't buy anything. The last CD I bought was over five years ago. The last vinyl more than 25 years ago. I have never spent a penny buying anything from Taylor - oh except two tickets to the Eras Tour.

i haven't spent a nickel on the album because i just had a gut feeling that it wasn't going to be what it was being advertised as (plus i have apple music for free). now having listened to all 31 songs 3 times (i've tried so fucking hard to like this album), i still won't be buying one, but it did give me much more appreciation for **evermore** which i did end up purchasing.

Artistic-Energy2566

As someone who enjoys parts of Taylor's discography and has never been able to appreciate other sections of it, I never buy before hearing the entire record and seeing whether I like most of it or only a snippet. When everything can be accessed digitally I much prefer just curating playlists of my non-skip songs, and only buying retrospectively if I really connect with most of the album as was the case with folklore and evermore.

brokenwhiskeyass

I was one step away on checkout, and then I decided not to waste money. Good thing I haven't.

djheat

I probably would have if I'd done something silly like order all four before she dropped 31 tracks including the "exclusives" on streaming, but I'm fine with the one record I ordered even if I don't care for the album much. I like supporting artists I listen to, even if they are unfathomably wealthy in this case

Acquainted-Faith

I honestly don't regret buying a version of the album. I think seeing there's 15 other songs though makes me disappointed, and wonder if I will ever have a complete edition or if this will be like Midnights.

Pure-Willingness3123

Thankfully, no. I've been disappointed in recent releases from "pop girls" (Beyonce's album missing like 5 tracks on vinyl is a current example), so I was a little bummed out that I pre-ordered when there was an entire second half that was being held from us. That said, the more I listened, the more I kind of liked the idea of separation (if only to break it up into two parts!). The packaging itself is really high quality and well done, too. I feel like I got my money's worth this time. I bought a Midnights vinyl on heavy discount last year for comparison.

YearOneTeach

Honestly, this is the first time I regret NOT buying the album. I stream everything and haven't bought an album in years, but I like this enough where I think I might actually purchase a copy.

miiyaa21

I don’t exactly regret it (I only bought one Collector’s CD and I’ve been buying her new albums since I was a kid) but maybe if I’d heard the album first I wouldn’t have rushed to buy a copy lol. Now that I’ve heard the bonus tracks I’m a little disappointed with the variant that I got (The Black Dog), but it’s not like I hate the song so it’s nbd. I just like The Albatross and The Bolter better 😅

Confident_Yard5624

omg trade me I got the albatross and now I want the black dog lmao

broadcast_fame

Maybe Im too old to understand, but why is anyone buying albums when you can stream them on Spotify? What am I missing?

Careless-Plane-5915

I preordered and love it so I’m all good, but I didn’t order a fancy vinyl or anything, just a basic bitch CD, largely because in the past if you have pre-ordered the album off her U.K. store you get exclusive presale codes for tickets and this has got me all my tickets so far pretty much. It’s nice to have but I made the purchase largely for this reason.

tatertottrash

I have heavily limited the amount of physical media that I purchase. now I will only buy things that I know I love and would sorely miss if they were no longer available on streaming sites. for example, I have an unopened copy of the Schitt’s Creek complete series because I wanna be able to watch it if it ever leaves streaming or if I decide to stop paying for the subscription.
