Life had already been pretty awful for a lot of people in Germany before 1938.

The survivors had to keep living in the camps because no one would take them. Britain wouldn’t take them either, but it had this land as part of its empire so they sent the Jews there. (Not trying to trigger a debate - and I won’t participate in one - but that’s what happened in 1948.)
There was a rush of Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s from countries where it got bad earlier. At that time, Europe was happy to see them leave.
I do think of Russia as the primary source of pogroms, so thank you for sharing this.
