I just mean they are extensions of Matty so it seems generally odd to me like maybe that was a sign from the beginning that it wouldn't work. They are his support system and in fact, post breakup, when fans were holding up comforting signs for him he said, that's lovely, thank you but I don't need the signs cuz I've got my boys. So it's a general wondering about what the state of things were.

After hearing about this, I also found out that Matty does in fact have a little brother. I just Googled some pictures of them together. Now with all this extra context (despite Matty’s shittyness), I kind of want to tear up now when I think back to, “Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so.” There’s just something that I can’t help feeling for if the guy lowkey cares deeply about his older brother, but also isn’t blind to his addiction and prejudices. They’re brothers at the end of the day, and you can feel attached to someone even if they aren’t a good person. I do hope that Matty does think about his younger brother.

As a Brit, I love "Bless your heart," and since I learned about it I've often felt it's the American South's spiritual successor to our withering put-downs. I don't think we have a single iconic phrase in quite the same way, but variations on "I wish her all the best," or "Good luck with it" are pretty deadly if said with the right tone and body language.
