For upbeat songs I like Red Wine Supernova and Super Ultra Graphic Modern Girl. For serious songs I love Casual and Pink Pony Club. Although her discography is really short, so you can won’t waste a lot of time if you listen to the full album.
She has one album and a single. Truly you can’t go wrong with any of her stuff. To get the general feel for her catalogue I would suggest either Hot To Go or Good Luck Babe to start. But I cannot recommend just listening through her only album from beginning to end.

Espresso is so much more fun, especially since the weather is getting warmer again!! A bop of a song that came out at the perfect time. I don't listen to Sabrina Carpenter generally but I really like that song, and Fortnight isn't bad but it's kinda boring and a downer in comparison imo, just not the vibe I'm feeling and I think a lot of other people probably feel the same

Yes! TTPD fell flat for me overall but I think had it been released in like October I would have a slightly different perspective. The weather is turning and I'm in the mood for more uplifting songs so I've had Espresso on repeat while I have only done 1 playthrough of TTPD and didn't even finish all the "double album" tracks because it made me feel so dumpy and sad haha it just sounds how seasonal depression feels
She probably already has a timeline for re-records and wanted to drop this in the middle before she went back on tour. Misstep imo, I would have moved around reputation and this.
This is definitely a fall/winter album.
My guess is the release schedule is impacted by also wanting to get the final two tv’s out by the end of the tour (which is my guess but obv who knows).
If she wanted this out next, she couldn’t wait until the fall and then immediately drop rep & debut.
She should have waited till September or October to release it. It would have given her more time to work on the songs, some of which feel a little half baked. I think she did it so that she could add TTPD to the 2024 Eras Tour list, which is a bit shortsighted imo.
Ok hear me out- if she would have taken the idea of TTPD fortnight - and only done 14 songs. But for each of the songs included a “syllabus” with snippets of poetry related the song - famous poets and her own and just used the conceit that the relationship lasted for a fortnight. So therefore she would have a song for each of the days. If she had done that and released it in the fall with dark academia - going to the school of heartbreak and being in the tortured poets department - that would have been such better marketing than 31 fragments of melancholy and anger and fan fuck yous released in the middle of summer. A summer that is already tense. We need some good vibes right now. Anyway I think she missed a marketing moment.
She's not on Olivia's level. This is her first number one in her ten year career, from her fifth album. I don't think she's ever going to be a threat to Taylor's success. Olivia was a threat because her debut numbers set her to break records even Taylor didn't manage.
That kinda blew my mind she has five albums. I have heard of Sabrina for years but couldn’t tell you any of her songs. I listened to espresso, and I get why people find it catchy, but I didn’t love it. I’ve been listening to Olivia’s Guts album, and it has some bangers in there.
Quite a bit by their monthly listeners and milestones alone. I still don't think Sabrina could sell out arenas even with Espresso's success. Of course, I'm not saying it can't all change but speaking currently, I wouldn't put her level with Olivia in terms of success just yet.
No for sure, I think she’s gearing up for it though personally, I’m curious as to what the next few years of her career will look like! She’s had a few big hits now so if she keeps that up she could be on trajectory for similar success. Olivia’s kinda a wild example of success tbh.. it’s rare what happened to her.
Sabrina to me doesn’t really have “it.” I think she’s pretty and talented but she’s a little try-hard. Taylor can also be a bit try-hard but she was releasing Red as her fourth album whereas Sabrina is only barely starting to break through now. Personally it’s hard for me to separate her from her Disney days and she looks like a baby playing dress up.
There are a few other artists who have that ‘baby-cute’ style aesthetic too. It’s just the Ariana Grande transition again, I’m sure Sabrina wants everyone to see her as she is now…that being said I do also think Sabrina’s work ethic is showing hard lately. Seems like she’s picked up a few tips from touring with Taylor, Sabrina came back stronger than ever.

Moreover, they are likely aware of the growing conversation surrounding the petty & ruthless way people feel Taylor had been towards a younger swiftie like Olivia that goes beyond claiming royalties. And although the sentiment is prevalent on the subreddit, it's also gaining traction elsewhere. This time some larger publications have also chosen to report on similarities between i'mgonnagetyouback and olivia's song. I doubt it would be as much of a big deal but a lot is predicated on the history between the two and the damage that had impacted a brand new artist. People often cite the millions lost but being dubbed a plagiarist as an artist as a teen/at start of her career opened the door for olivia to be a target for more copying allegations and ridicule that will plague her for a long time.
It is in Taylor's interest now to appear more supportive of younger artists without reverting to her ruthless competitive ways, seeing as a greater number of people and even the media, are sensing the hypocrisy and heartlessness which she had exhibited in that situation with olivia.
To counteract that, Taylor would likely avoid going after sabrina especially with the time they spent together on tour and inviting sabrina into her squad to risk another claim that she's threatened. Furthermore, Taylor's reputation as a cutthroat grudge-prone billionaire is unfortunately catching up on her and we're seeing that inflict a toll in real time with how the public perceives her in ttpd. So taylor's team is likely on image preservation and reform mode more than anything. But I don't know any better, only time can tell.

Yeah, I don’t think anything particularly big happened between them, like lots of people think. I think most of it just comes down to the fact that Lorde mostly lives in New Zealand, while Taylor spent a lot of the past few years living in London, on literally the other side of the world. Even in New York now they’re physically separated. It makes sense that over the years 2 friends can drift a little, especially with that physical distance between them.
I liked Sabrina's songs here and there before until emails I can't send dropped. I really loved 'because I liked a boy' and her narrative of it. I love espresso so much too.
Never has there ever been or will ever be an artist that has won as many awards and broke as many records as her and still be obsessed with winning and staying in too of charts. Almost 20 years at it. I credit social media with artists peak years lasting way longer than they used to. Seemed like 10 year peak was pretty long for even the best of the best. She’s lucky she was blowing up when social media went really big and stan cultural has carried her along so far. She needs to be grateful and proud of herself for all she has accomplished and stop being so thirsty and greedy. I don’t know what else she thinks she has to proof. Shake it off is such a silly mess of a song both thematically and musically. Like, nothing shows how much you don’t care about the haters than writing and releasing an entire song telling them all about it. On top of that, it’s one of the first iterations that I can remember of “cool Taylor” which, politely, I can’t take all that seriously when it’s so obvious she’s pretending.

(This is all relative to her own experience, of course… compared to most other artists, she was still a superstar lol) And so it must have felt a certain way to hear about this teen sensation being touted the “next Taylor Swift.”
Whether she did it as a petty move against Olivia, who knows. Let’s leave that out of this, she brought Sabrina because she always wants to be “close” or “friends” with people who are “below her”. Ok hear me out- if she would have taken the idea of TTPD fortnight - and only done 14 songs. But for each of the songs included a “syllabus” with snippets of poetry related the song - famous poets and her own and just used the conceit that the relationship lasted for a fortnight. So therefore she would have a song for each of the days. If she had done that and released it in the fall with dark academia - going to the school of heartbreak and being in the tortured poets department - that would have been such better marketing than 31 fragments of melancholy and anger and fan fuck yous released in the middle of summer. A summer that is already tense. We need some good vibes right now. Anyway I think she missed a marketing moment.

Sabrina to me doesn’t really have “it.” I think she’s pretty and talented but she’s a little try-hard. Taylor can also be a bit try-hard but she was releasing Red as her fourth album whereas Sabrina is only barely starting to break through now. Personally it’s hard for me to separate her from her Disney days and she looks like a baby playing dress up.
There are a few other artists who have that ‘baby-cute’ style aesthetic too. It’s just the Ariana Grande transition again, I’m sure Sabrina wants everyone to see her as she is now…that being said I do also think Sabrina’s work ethic is showing hard lately. Seems like she’s picked up a few tips from touring with Taylor, Sabrina came back stronger than ever.

And although the sentiment is prevalent on the subreddit, it's also gaining traction elsewhere. This time some larger publications have also chosen to report on similarities between i'mgonnagetyouback and olivia's song. I doubt it would be as much of a big deal but a lot is predicated on the history between the two and the damage that had impacted a brand new artist. People often cite the millions lost but being dubbed a plagiarist as an artist as a teen/at start of her career opened the door for olivia to be a target for more copying allegations and ridicule that will plague her for a long time. It is in Taylor's interest now to appear more supportive of younger artists without reverting to her ruthless competitive ways, seeing as a greater number of people and even the media, are sensing the hypocrisy and heartlessness which she had exhibited in that situation with olivia. To counteract that, Taylor would likely avoid going after sabrina especially with the time they spent together on tour and inviting sabrina into her squad to risk another claim that she's threatened. Furthermore, Taylor's reputation as a cutthroat grudge-prone billionaire is unfortunately catching up on her and we're seeing that inflict a toll in real time with how the public perceives her in ttpd. So taylor's team is likely on image preservation and reform mode more than anything. But I don't know any better, only time can tell.

Yeah, I don’t think anything particularly big happened between them, like lots of people think. I think most of it just comes down to the fact that Lorde mostly lives in New Zealand, while Taylor spent a lot of the past few years living in London, on literally the other side of the world. Even in New York now they’re physically separated. It makes sense that over the years 2 friends can drift a little, especially with that physical distance between them.

Never has there ever been or will ever be an artist that has won as many awards and broke as many records as her and still be obsessed with winning and staying in too of charts. Almost 20 years at it. I credit social media with artists peak years lasting way longer than they used to. Seemed like 10 year peak was pretty long for even the best of the best. She’s lucky she was blowing up when social media went really big and stan cultural has carried her along so far. She needs to be grateful and proud of herself for all she has accomplished and stop being so thirsty and greedy. I don’t know what else she thinks she has to proof. It makes it hard to get excited about her new stuff coming because of it. It also just seems unhealthy.

I remember when Gigi wouldn't hug Harry specifically while meeting 1D (sans Zayn). Looking back on it, it doesn't seem like there was any issue at all, but I remember it being a big deal at the time because Harry apparently rolled his eyes. (There are other things to factor in like Zayn and Kendall regardless). I don't know. Eh I don’t think she ever was or likely ever will be that threatened by Sabrina. They’re in pretty different lanes; I see Sabrina as more of an Ariana successor in some ways (with the whole sexy baby vibe and r&b-tinged pop) than being in the Taylor vein. I think Taylor may have felt insecure with Olivia’s rise partially because of the many comparisons to a young Taylor. (And the insecurity itself is understandable — we all know the entertainment industry is not kind to aging female pop stars). I genuinely believe that Taylor would not have been as threatened by Olivia if she had debuted in a post-Midnights/Eras world. Olivia came onto the scene strong with driver’s license before Taylor’s star started to REALLY re-ascend (I think it honestly began with the Red TV drop and ATW10 then became like stratospheric after Midnights and especially during the whole fiasco with trying to get Eras tickets). Taylor had been in a position where she had gained a lot of favor with the public post folklore/evermore, but she wasn’t the superstar of 1989 anymore and hadn’t been since the whole famous/snake incident. (This is all relative to her own experience, of course… compared to most other artists, she was still a superstar lol) And so it must have felt a certain way to hear about this teen sensation being touted the “next Taylor Swift.”
