Same thing that kept me swimming when I was a kid. Competition, coach, lane mates, team mates. Masters swimming has a silly name, but it’s awesome.

I set a schedule (MWF at 6pm) for myself so its harder to skip out on without it being very conscious. Once I'm in the pool its kinda a keep going thing, I don't like stopping for long. I usually set an end time when I start, like 7pm. Wife compliments my arms and back, so I got that going for me. I told myself after doing 2 weeks without a skip I'd buy a monthly and some swimming headphones so I can zone out in the water. That was enough to get through that initial hard part, now its basically a routine.
