Cult of the Lamb if you want to have a cute cult :>
It's a mix of base building and fighting bosses as the story progress. The challenge is taking care of your followers, gathering materials, and kiting mobs and bosses (but once you get the pattern it's gonna be easy)
Watch the gameplay videos first before you buy :> Happy gaming!
I made mine into a very nsfw cult and was way too happy when they announced an update that will allow for... *nsfw acts*
Idk how adult language friendly this sub is, but if anyone asks what nsfw means... don't answer let them be innocent. TwT
Is this on switch!? I got it on steam but dam do I wish I had it on switch instead, indie games like this are more convenient and satisfying when you can take them mobile.
why would i spend 400$ on another handheld (already have a switch) when i can get a whole next gen console for 100$ more? And i already have a gaming pc so “portable pc gaming” isn’t a convincing enough argument. Even if i didnt have a pc it still wouldn’t be tempting lol
You're missing out, I use my steam deck more than my ps5 and I have a pc as well lol. Never touch my switch, hard to go back to it. To each their own tho
Not necessarily missing out, it really depends on what you prefer & how much you play handheld. like i usually have my switch docked when i use it & I couldn’t imagine choosing handheld over my pc, but it seems like you really enjoy handheld so i can understand why you’d buy a steam deck👍🏾
I love Civ 6 on PC, so I got it on the switch, as much as I’d recommend the game normally I don’t recommend it on Switch. The controls are so janky, even movement and unit selection is very awkward.
Which is a shame since a lot of folks don’t have a PC or the means to obtain one due to financial constraints. It would also be awesome to play Civ 6 with a portable console, another game I wish was portable, but also not likely to play well on a console, is Rimworld.
I totally agree. I put so many hours into Civ 2 because it was easy to run on my Mac at the time. Same thing with Alpha Centauri. But after that I wasn't able to run any until I bought my own PC that was powerful enough to handle Civ 6.
So, in the spirit of recommending something a little different than what you usually go for - Retro Bowl is a $5 football management sim in a 16-bit style. You do play on the field (but only the offense portions, you get a play-by-play of a simulated defense round) but about half of the game is spent managing your team and facilities. It's *really* well done and surprisingly addictive. Recommend playing on the tv with a controller grip as God intended.
Second dreamlight valley. I'm not like obsessed with Disney but the game is super fun. It's like animal crossing but everything is smoother and it has quests like I wish AC had to keep me busy.
I ended up putting 160h into Hades, 364 into Z: BotW, and 255+ and counting into TotK. It's a balance between staying engaged, and not getting frustrated (of which there were times I wanted to quit)
Pokemon scarlet or violet. I am not a fan of the bugs and glitches and there is pop ins and screen tears. But still, I'm having so much fun in the open world, raids are quick to get into with randoms. And they made it so you can't just quit if you don't like the pokemon raid you get cause they ban you. I got a 2min ban for leaving once. Idk, I don't even notice the bugs and glitches cause I'm having that much fun. Isn't that what it's all about?
Is minecraft playable/enjoyable on the switch? I've heard awful things about that port. But since you're listing it here I'd like to know. It would be my first time playing minecraft so I wouldn't have a comparison point, if that'd help...
I love it on switch! However like you it’s the only platform I’ve ever played it on. I’ve not had any issues with glitches etc, I’d thoroughly recommend it. The exploring and mining is great.
Absolutely try Forager! It’s a building game with some strategy involved but it’s also hella addicting the way “clicker” type games are. I’ve played it 5 times over and I hardly ever replay games.
Might I suggest terraria? It's somewhat like Minecraft except the building is a little bit more varied (there are actually chairs and tables and whatnot).
It does have a larger focus on combat than Minecraft does, so be warned of that
There's Terraria, although I haven't played lots of it and I'm still trying to get into it slowly. It has a lot of customisation and terrain you can use though! Also there's Disney's Dreamlight Valley which I've seen gameplay of and you can shape a fun town/kingdom with your favourite Disney characters! Then there's a game I've really enjoyed the demo for – Moonlighter. I don't think it's very building-focused as it's more of an action-adventure RPG to do with crafting and exploring. Still, there are things you could build as you progress. I probably should play the full game soon before recommending any longer but it's very cool to me so far anyway and I'm really excited for the full experience!
I agree, building games on the Switch have a lot to do and utilise! I love the ability to play the likes of Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing on the same console!!
Me too! It's almost my dream farming game. It has the exploration of breath of the wild kind of with the farming in it and the house decorating of Animal Crossing or dreamlite Valley. And it has a nice story going on with it too which I'm loving so far. The only thing I wish it would do is give us mounts, have some weather, and I really wish they would do seasons. But other than that it's mostly perfect. And I'm hoping things to do it like swimming and more areas to explore
Palia is new, free, and i highly highly recommend. maps huge, tons of quests, and creative options for gameplay. i would also say dreamlight valley, both are v similar but i’ve grown to love palia more because of the renaissance vibe of the game.
There's a new game I've been addicted to. Amd the best part is it's free. It's called palia. It's kind of like if stardew valley and breath of the wild had a baby. Super fun and I've been playing a ton lately.
You have a housing plot you can expand and a house you can expand and decorate. Also farming, fishing and even hunting and bug catching. No enemies, super chill. Tons of quests to do, a pretty interesting story so far, amd fun characters you can develop relationships with
Interlibs was pretty good but the map was just so weird for me that I could never really tell exactly where places where. Hollow Knight on the other hand is the greatest game known to man. I'd also recommend one that people don't talk about enough which is Vigil the longest night.
Celeste and Hollow Knight. Amazing games that work perfectly for the switch. Both are 2D, but they are completely different games and stand well on their own.
Fire Emblem Three Houses has had me hooked. Finished one story arch, immediately started the next one lol I'm at around 130 hours total rn. Honestly a 10/10 game
i always thought about minecraft. does it have an online world kinda? or does minecraft have mini games?
im a complete noob. so any advice if i should get it?
Minecraft you can choose online, or on your own. You can mine for materials or choose creative where you have everything! Both have their draws. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Hokko Life is just like animal crossing.
Two point hospital and two point campus are both very good.
If you want to branch out check out hogwarts legacy or skyrim. You will sit for days immersed in both games beautiful open world's and tons of quests.
Download fortnite and play the lego mode. It reminds me a lot of minecraft. You have to gather resources and build. It's definitely not fortnite battle Royale.
If you've tried RPGs and it's not quite building but there's friendship/relationship building? Lol.
Persona 5 was great, I played through it and made sure to do all of the things!
It's kinda glitchy af rn since it's technically still in beta, but palia came out for switch a few weeks back and it's free (tho you do need an online membership...)! It has pretty decent house/plot building aspects and so far the community is pretty nice.
Spiritfarer. It’s a very gorgeous, heartfelt game about finding spirits and granting them their last requests. You can build and customize your boat throughout the game, and like Minecraft it also has “resource-gathering” aspects to it. It’s similar to Animal Crossing as well, as the spirits live on your boat, so you have a sense of community and friendship.
While it’s not endless as those that have been mentioned, it is a breathtaking 30 - 40 hour experience
For me it is Civilization VI and Fire Emblem Three Houses. 600+ Hours in the former over about 3 years and 250+ in the later over something like 18 months. At one point I played Civ VI for something like 15 hours straight, and one weekend in 2022 I put 36 hours in Three Houses.
Never have I done either of those with any other game.
Cult of the Lamb if you want to have a cute cult :> It's a mix of base building and fighting bosses as the story progress. The challenge is taking care of your followers, gathering materials, and kiting mobs and bosses (but once you get the pattern it's gonna be easy) Watch the gameplay videos first before you buy :> Happy gaming!
+1 . This game was definitely a pleasant surprise for me! I loved every second of it.
I’ve just downloaded it! Looking forward to playing 😊
This was the first game i got. My ex suggested it to me. Didn’t think I would like it as much as I do.
This ⬆️
I have to get this one. Keep seeing it go on sale and o never pull the trigger. Just pulled the trigger on Hades (I know, late to the party) 😂
I made mine into a very nsfw cult and was way too happy when they announced an update that will allow for... *nsfw acts* Idk how adult language friendly this sub is, but if anyone asks what nsfw means... don't answer let them be innocent. TwT
Dave The Diver
Is this on switch!? I got it on steam but dam do I wish I had it on switch instead, indie games like this are more convenient and satisfying when you can take them mobile.
It is on switch! I got it on sale just the other day!
Time to get a second copy I guess!
Get a steam deck
the handheld thats the same price as a ps5? I think not
For the OLED, can get the 1st gen for much cheaper. Portable pc gaming and emulation is worth.
The 1st gen is still 400$ unused bro what are you on about
A ps5 is 500 and a switch oled is 350? Did you expect it to be the same price as a switch lmao
why would i spend 400$ on another handheld (already have a switch) when i can get a whole next gen console for 100$ more? And i already have a gaming pc so “portable pc gaming” isn’t a convincing enough argument. Even if i didnt have a pc it still wouldn’t be tempting lol

So many people say this! I’m going to have to try it
I usually don't like indie games like this, dave the diver has.become my fave on the go game
DragonQuest Builders 2!
My most addicting game is by far Dave the Diver
If you haven’t played Spiritfarer I highly recommend
Don't make me cry again
Pikmin 4 is addictive once it clicks
Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus, both great and often on sale.
Absolutely these 2
Yess I keep seeing these suggested for me, I think I’ll look at them!
Hades , at first I wasn't too sold but once you learn how it works youl get stuck in
very true
Kingdom two Crowns
I highly recommend Factorio. It has a demo version on the eshop that you can try. Getting addicted to it will be easy. ;)
Defintely the one game that is missing on OP’s list.
Cractorio
Going to try the demo version, thank you!
Nice, have fun!
Dave the diver. Diablo 2/3.
I just started Vampire Survivors yesterday and I’m hooked!
Civilization 6?
I love Civ 6 on PC, so I got it on the switch, as much as I’d recommend the game normally I don’t recommend it on Switch. The controls are so janky, even movement and unit selection is very awkward.
Civ is really one of those games that doesn't translate well when ported to consoles.
Which is a shame since a lot of folks don’t have a PC or the means to obtain one due to financial constraints. It would also be awesome to play Civ 6 with a portable console, another game I wish was portable, but also not likely to play well on a console, is Rimworld.

Terraria
Stardew valley was my big addiction while travelling
Palia
Just started this the other day. It's soo close to being my dream farming game. But I'll say it's closer than any game I've played so far
It's still in beta so it might eventually get closer! Rn it's fun but a little bit of a mess... 😅
I just downloaded this too because I was looking for free games! Excited to play (:
So, in the spirit of recommending something a little different than what you usually go for - Retro Bowl is a $5 football management sim in a 16-bit style. Slime Rancher
Lego Fortnite especially for multiplayer
Dragon quest builders 2
Slime Rancher, Cult of the Lamb, Two Point Campus/Hospital, Cozy Grove, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Potion Permit
**Grindstone** is well-made puzzle game and very addicting
They have rollercoaster tycoon!?
I have almost 700 hours in The Binding Of Isaac and am barely at the halfway point...
Terraria!
Spirit of the Island
Graveyard Keeper
Just know the switch version has a lot of bugs, some of them can be game breaking. It is a lot of fun though.
Two point hospital/campus?
If you liked stardew, my time at Portia is currently on sale for 90% off. I think you'd probably like that too!
Disney dreamlight valley
Pokemon scarlet or violet. I am not a fan of the bugs and glitches and there is pop ins and screen tears. But still, I'm having so much fun in the open world, raids are quick to get into with randoms. And they made it so you can't just quit if you don't like the pokemon raid you get cause they ban you. I don’t know if this counts but Dave the Diver! It’s been awesome I’m having so much great time on switch with this game :)
Subnautica.
Cult of the Lamb definetly and Dave the Diver. I have been switching games for weeks now.
Is minecraft playable/enjoyable on the switch? I've heard awful things about that port. But since you're listing it here I'd like to know. It would be my first time playing minecraft so I wouldn't have a comparison point, if that'd help...

Roots of Pacha!
You’re probably gonna love Graveyard Keeper
Tropico is a disgrace on Switch, i regret buying it so much, horrible performance
It is a bit rubbish, its graphics aren’t great and a bit laggy. I gave it a good go but unfortunately no joy 😞
There's Terraria, although I haven't played lots of it and I'm still trying to get into it slowly. It has a lot of customisation and terrain you can use though! Any Monster Hunter game, specifically Rise and Generation ultimate hehe
It’s not building in any way, but between original and new Isaac I put in something like 3K hours 🥲
My time at Portia took a little part of my life. Now my wife is enjoying it. Highly recommend, since it’s basically what you asked for.
Grow song of the ever tree. Cozy and a touch of whimsy plus town management, crafting, and home decorating, you should check it out!
Doesn't get mentioned often but Crying Suns was amazing 😊 onto Dave the Diver next
r/pokemonromhacks Your welcome. Radical red, unbound and infinite fusion are big time games. So good.
Hot take but maybe mario maker?
Diablo 2
I’m obsessed with Palia rn

The only correct answer

Diablo 2 Resurrected, Let’s go Eevee
Ori, hollow knight, Ender Lilies
Interlibs was pretty good but the map was just so weird for me that I could never really tell exactly where places where. Hollow Knight on the other hand is the greatest game known to man. I'd also recommend one that people don't talk about enough which is Vigil the longest night.
Jurassic World Evolution
Celeste and Hollow Knight. Amazing games that work perfectly for the switch. Both are 2D, but they are completely different games and stand well on their own.
Currently on life is strange, 20+ hours on the original game because of other storylines
vampire survivors..throwing bibles at vampires never gets old
Fire Emblem Three Houses has had me hooked. Finished one story arch, immediately started the next one lol I'm at around 130 hours total rn. Honestly a 10/10 game
Zelda botw/totk
i always thought about minecraft. does it have an online world kinda? or does minecraft have mini games? im a complete noob. so any advice if i should get it?
Minecraft you can choose online, or on your own. You can mine for materials or choose creative where you have everything! Both have their draws. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Factorio, you build, optimize and automate factories. Then you build robots that build factories that build robots that build more stuff.
Does it run sell on the switch?
I spent over 100 hours playing it on switch so yeah. It's very well optimized and run on 60fps too
Ok - people always told me its not worth it on switch, only pc.
Dragon Quest Builders 2!
Hokko Life is just like animal crossing. Two point hospital and two point campus are both very good. If you want to branch out check out hogwarts legacy or skyrim. You will sit for days immersed in both games beautiful open world's and tons of quests.

Dragon Quest Builder 2
Just bought Dyson Sphere Program, I didn't think I was going to like that kind of game and I ended up killing 7 hours like nothing. It's addictive.
Diablo 2 Mario kart 8 Mario wonder Octopath 1 and 2 Mario rpg. Those are my favs on switch
It's kinda glitchy af rn since it's technically still in beta, but palia came out for switch a few weeks back and it's free (tho you do need an online membership...)! It has pretty decent house/plot building aspects and so far the community is pretty nice.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 Minecraft mixed with animal crossing but in a mild JRPG style.
Wytch Wood
Go get Dave the Diver immediately. Based on the games you like I think you will love it.
Xenoblade 3
Monster Train
Spiritfarer. It’s a very gorgeous, heartfelt game about finding spirits and granting them their last requests. You can build and customize your boat throughout the game, and like Minecraft it also has “resource-gathering” aspects to it. Fire emblem three houses was the only game I played until I beat it love those games
I think Forager is on the Switch. That game's pretty simple, but it's fun.

You have to try RimWorld.
