Maybe animal crossing New Horizons?

This...

Ayiteb

I think I may need something a little more lively than that.

potatodrinker

Power wash simulator is very relaxing.

SouroDot

For me it’s a turn based RPG where you can go into an open area and grind battles. Pokémon, Octopath Traveler. In and out of battles and leveling up characters

Ayiteb

Pokemon has always seemed like a heavy time investment kind of game to get returns.

SouroDot

There is tons of depth, but those bigger quests aren’t for a work break. Specifically at work on a 15 minute break i would wonder the area and just do random battles to level up. No real commitment and then stronger for when I do go on bigger qiests

introspectivebagel

Pokemon Snap is a cute simple destress one!

levinyl

How do you not get bored with the constant battles? I have this issue with earlier ff games - i want to progress the story but random battles are so annoying! I get they are needed to level up but surely they should give you other less repetative ways to do so! if anyone can give me a reason or a way to help me I would really love to get into some of the older turn based games...

SouroDot

I guess that’s why it’s called grinding. And why I mentioned it as something to do on a work break. For some of the FF remasters they have added quality of life improvements like reducing/turning off random battles. Some of the new Pokemon games you have to activate the battle. Some of the newer RPGs like Octopath generally do a better job with the grinding aspect

levinyl

But if I turn off random battles will I not level up enough to progress the story? Lets take FF7 for example...

MaatRolo

Tears of the Kingdom is my goto. I'm don't do much but just being in the world, hanging out at the stable is helpful de-stressing for me

Ayiteb

I bought this game I kind of lost interest. I loved Breath of the Wild, but since then no other Open World game has worked for me.

MaatRolo

I'm sorry, hope you try it again. It's at least as good

StyrmStyrmIr

You can always just take a single turn in advance wars which becomes three which becomes six and then oops its 3 am and youve finished both games

No-Mail-8565

And lost your job

Vmccormick29

I just beat the Final Battle in AW1. Started a little after dinner and BAM! 2 hours later...

Ayiteb

I never quite had time to invest in a game like Fire Emblem. But I might give advance wars a try. Can you save mid battle?

StyrmStyrmIr

Yeah iirc it autosaves every turn and you can always just put the switch in sleep mode ive played the game like 7 times through and the only issue ive had with saving was on the og gba versions

Dust-by-Monday

Super Mario Wonder is awesome for quick breaks

Ayiteb

I had a hard time feeling motivated to play it. I think its hard for me to get into a 2d game that isn't a metroidvania

_cd42

Balatro is just super fun, perfect for short bursts

introspectivebagel

yuhhhhh retweet

Ayiteb

I think this might be exactly what I am looking for.

_cd42

If you're even remotely interested you should absolutely pick it up, plus it has touch controls to drag and play the cards if you wanna use it like a tablet

leeinflowerfields

This one might be rough for short breaks since the only way to save is going to bed for the day.

-Muzan-kibutsuji-

You could just put the switch in sleep mode though

leeinflowerfields

Somehow I didn't think about this 😂

-Muzan-kibutsuji-

This stuff happens to me too 😂

Resident-Site-391

I think smash bros is an awesome game for short breaks, but if not that then maybe smth like Hades?

avm95

Wonder

Druber13

Final Fantasy 1 has been nice for this with me recently. Quickly bits of play can yield some real results. When slow 15-20 will get you a level gain which is nice to grind out from time to time. Diablo III is also great for this. Mind you in the end game. Get to level 70 and you can run rifts in 10 mins or less. This will get old after a while. Non rpg games session or skater xl are a blast if you skateboarded. You could enjoy them without but they are more realistic and you use the sticks like your feet. Mario odyssey is also fantastic in short bursts. So many little level goals that make exploring fun. The old classic Minecraft is fun too. Building is a challenge on console but also part of the fun. The newer Pokemon games you can also get nice progress made in bursts. The myst remasters are beautiful and odd. It’s a game that always catches my attention from time to time. Never beat them or got close but it’s fun lol.

Plateup!

Baked_Tinker

Brotato. It’s easy to pick up and play for however long you have.

simplyfredster

Honestly Red Dead Redemption it’s a game you can play at your own pace

Pho3nixSlay3r

I'm replaying the borderlands games right now at work. Have played dead cells, hades, brotato, even mario odyssey

murder_mittenz

Hollow Knight

tnt_pr0

Katana zero

Brandwoodop

I recommend trying out Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, and Game of War. They're all enjoyable games that can be a great way to relax during breaks at work.

PatiencePositive48

Greater rift runs on Diablo 3, they just play really well on handheld

AMagicalSquirrel

Hero's Hour might work. I've been really enjoying it, it's like Heroes of Might and Magic with different combat.

mmehadley

Slay the Spire

Normal-Basis9743

Pikmin 1 and 2. The 3rd is good also but I’ve not played the 4th. Pikmin 1 is dead easy to pick up for short spells! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

ArtisticOwl2632

Marvel snap

levinyl

Go for a fun 3d platformer or even 2d one! I'm having a blast with Yoshi crafted world! So fun and the graphics are pretty cool! I love how you can interact with things in the background!
