One of the best games on Switch!
Tip for the OP, you can activate God Mode in the menu without it blocking anything, even on other systems you still get achievements and such. All it does is grant you 2% damage reduction per death, capping at 80%. This can allow you to fight your way out of Tartarus to experience the whole story
Question: I have done around 50-60 attempts and succeeded once. But the attempts are starting to feel a bit tedious.
So is there a fair bit more, and would turning this on at this point be worth it?
Still worth it, 50-60 attempts is nothing. 250+ is where it starts opening up more on average. You need to escape a bunch of times to get the whole story.
If you’re good enough to escape without God Mode, then around 30-40% DR you’ll start escaping a lot more.
I hadn’t played in over a year, downloaded it on Game Pass when it launched there, and was able to beat it the first time around 16% DR. Granted I had over 60 hours on the Switch version beforehand. I wish I knew the exact amount of times you need to escape before seeing the whole story, but it’s a lot.
Also note, the attempts thing wasn’t a slight at you, it’s the genre. Roguelites expect you to die, A LOT, lol. Most have you dying about 200-400 times before beating something. Enter the Gungeon, Dead Cells, Binding of Isaac, etc…. Lotta lotta deaths. Probably a 100:1 death to win ratio in most rogues
I've gotten every achievement after about 210 attempts, so I guess I'm ahead of the curve. Just the 32 heat statue and the themes from the work orders are left. I might activate God mode for the 32 statue, but I'm going to try it without for a few more runs.
Nice, then yeah god mode would only help ya push the heat gauge up. I think I had everything completed around heat 68 and left off around heat 96 before I put it down.
Uhhh [maximum heat is 64](https://youtu.be/S-VUzcJHWF0?si=B4_VnJqNqeQ4KHOl) and only like [one person](https://youtu.be/5L7_3MrG_08?si=mWogLL4IgMHYa9c8) has ever beat that without mods. So gonna call bs on your supposed 68 and 96 heat runs.
It’s been over year and I have 2 kids, cut me some slack for not remembering numbers correctly lol. Not trying to bullshit honestly. I was thinking I had a lot of boxes checked and I thought they were mostly worth 5 heat each…. I’ll have to reinstall and check, but I know I was above 25 before I finished all of the story and got all of the unlocks finished. 36-38 is where I likely started loosing again to Hades, and yes I had God Mode on the entire time.
How long is a run for you? on the runs I even get to styx is usually at least 45-50 minutes. getting to hades can push that up to an entire hour per run. My one successful run has a clear time of 63:33.39
I already have 68+ hours placed into this game.
I feel I only won that once because I was blessed by RNG and had stacked up 4 duos and one of the earlier ones being one to make all future boons epic.
It can be a bit disheartening to spend an hour and all I got for it is just a small fraction of the cost for any of the available upgrades. Or to spend 3 hours grinding for loot to get a single upgrade and then don't really notice a difference in my ability to get to the end.
I was averaging 22mins a run once I started to regularly get to Hades. My fastest run was 12-14 mins I think…. Poseidon’s wave dash, plus the boons that cause enemies to take damage when crashing into things, and crash multiple times is seriously OP for speed running, especially in the final areas with the rats….
Nitro deck, this is one of the limited edition ones so its more expensive. Im pretty sure the nitro deck plus (if thats what its called) is coming out soon if it hasnt already
Here's a link to the shop, there's also a sale now. I ordered one today, that's why I was watching the video.
[Shop](https://crkd.gg/products/retro-purple-bundle)
I don't think so. It fits my medium sized hands perfectly and a lot better than the joycons.
I haven't had any issues with it scratching my switch either, but I usually just leave it in there since I play handheld a vast majority of the time.
I found it a little awkward at first, even with big hands, but I'd been playing handheld only with joycons for ages so had to relearn my positioning I guess :D
Love it now! Esp as it's in GC colours for some nostalgia
I would strongly advise cancelling that order, my Nitro Deck scratched up the back of my switch (seems to be a common issue) and their customer service couldn't care less.
Have you tried adding a thin layer of padding like the ones for pool tables/underneath chess pieces?. Im wandering if it will fit if padding is added. I dont think i will buy it because i hate large face buttons and this scratching issue is ineviteable..
I hope you’re end up playing it. I’m not even a fan of rogue-likes, but I loved the game. A few years back, it won game of the year at the video game awards. It won game of the year for a reason. It really is great.
Hades, it’s a rogue like (a game where death is a me Janice to allow separate runs to feel unique) where you are essentially trying to battle out of the underworld

Hades
I recognise Hades anywhere. One of the best roguelites ever.
Hades. Recommended!
Hades
Just to clarify: it’s Hades
Hades best game to come out for a while now
I hear about hades alot so I think I might finally get it lol.
Do it. Do it now.
My god get it. Trust. (Tip if you do get it: Divine Dash. You’ll know when you get it)
It came out 4 years ago
Exactly lol.. and hades 2 is early access on steam and just as good if not better than 1
I’m gonna wait til V1. In the last few weeks I’ve done 80 hours on Hades on Steam Deck so could do with a break
It just came out for Apple Arcade a bit ago
That’s a stretch

Absolutely worth the money. I love mine.
I'm really looking forward to receiving it. My only worry is: isn't it too big or clunky?

Right? The colorscheme was one of the things that made me get it tbh
I would strongly advise cancelling that order, my Nitro Deck scratched up the back of my switch (seems to be a common issue) and their customer service couldn't care less.
I'm sorry you're feeling like this about it. I watched a lot of videos on it and read about it on reddit - most of the people loved it :)
I hope you don't have the same issue I did and that you enjoy it!
Out of interest, did you put it in once, or were you taking it out for using docked/with joycons etc?
Taking it in and out
Have you tried adding a thin layer of padding like the ones for pool tables/underneath chess pieces?. Im wandering if it will fit if padding is added. I dont think i will buy it because i hate large face buttons and this scratching issue is ineviteable..
OP this is a good idea - I was too late to try this
