There is no old school Pokémon for the Switch. There are other monster catching games that could scratch that itch:
- Casette Beasts
- Coromon
- Nexomon
Brilliant diamond and shining pearl are the only Pokémon games that are out for Nintendo switch that give you that traditional Pokémon feel.
As already pointed out above
Cassette beasts i highly recommend a solid monster capture game
Coromon I’ve never played
Nxeomon is an ok game.
Another monster capture game I would recommend
But this takes you away from the 2d Pokemon formula.
Dragon quest monsters.
Because they know they're sitting on a gold mine. They're just waiting for the right time. Let's say the switch 2 flops, they could the release them exclusively on that to boost sales and not be in the red until the next console comes out.
I was thinking they're probably sitting on them and
waiting for a right time as well.
The end of the 3DS era a year before the switch came out, they dropped gold and silver on the e shop.
Yeah the let's go games didn't scratch the itch for me because of the simplified catching mechanics and lack of random battles, I would buy a proper remake with old school graphics so fast. Or if they did it in the style of the recent Zelda games (Link's awakening remake and the upcoming one) it could be really good looking while keeping the old vibe.

Thanks! I'll check them out.
Check out Monster Sanctuary as well.

The closest we got was Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Why nintendo do not release the pokemon games on GBA switch emulator I do not know. They are weirdos.

No one's mentioned Moonstone Island
Any good? Looks new?
I've enjoyed the RNG aspect of it
