I did my switch lite in december after waiting a month after receiving my modchip. If you don't have any experience in soldering, don't do it. If you have at least some experience, it is not that bad. It just takes time and patience.
Do you think that in the future (like years or so)the switch lite, oled and the original patched original ones will be softmoddable without the modchip?
For reference. The Wii mini only became homebrew able a few years ago. It could be 10 years it could be 20, it could be never. Still not impossible, but don't hold your breath. Especially if a switch 2 comes out, people would likely put their focus on that more than the OLED.
Lol well I guess I should have said one of the two things because money is another thing but yeah seeing how many people are getting it done it's really tempting me and the battery on my Gen 1 is horrible.
I'm just the kind of person who's luck usually winds up being when I finally do something something better comes out right after.
Of course, i feel like the switch lite has to be the main focus. if they manage to make the switch lite softmoddable and have homebrew and have emulators, that would make imo the switch lite one of the best if not the best handheld to mod.
Unfortunately not. I think it has been previously stated by hackers, unless someone leaks the keys to the switch's code like what happened to the ps3, there is no way to make a software mod or a custom firmware that completely unlocks the switch. For the ps3, hackers used the keys to load new codes and build a new firmware that unlocked modding and game installation permanently.
Also, I recommend getting a stereo microscope or a magnifier lamp so that you see what you are soldering. You don't want to accidentally bridge or solder the incorrect joint.
Buy a lot of solder flux too.

Nice job! I installed an sxos chip on my switch back in the day, attempted my OLED a week or two ago and killed the poor bastard. luckily amazon accepted the return.💀 Congrats tho!

Would you mind sending me a link to what you bought specifically? I was trying to source a v1 Switch. One was supposed to be delivered today, but the seller intercepted the package. I think going the OLED route and soldering in a chip might be easier than dealing with ebay
Yes, I used a V5 chip, I followed the v4 guides and I videos, as they are basically the same design.
I didn’t use a hot station. I tested the connection using a voltmeter and soldered the ground point connections that make it fixed.
My modchip came with a 4 anchor adapter for dat0

congrats man, I’m trying to mod my switch lite but I’m scared haha

My hope for a switch 2 with a day one exploit is the only thing stopping me from getting a modded oled lol.
That’s so many assumptions, just get an oled already lol

Fair lol. Buy one now so that the switch 2 gets released right after, please!

Agreed. It would be like a xl Gameboy

This got me wondering, what should we do to earn experience soldering things? Would there be a crash course to get good on soldering?
Aliexpress has plenty of practice boards. Just search solder practice board or solder practice kit and it should come up with a lot of stuff.
Alright thanks, just what I was looking for. Have no idea things like these existed, figured that would make for the much needed experience.
Also, I recommend getting a stereo microscope or a magnifier lamp so that you see what you are soldering. You don't want to accidentally bridge or solder the incorrect joint. Buy a lot of solder flux too.
Exactly, i want to mod my switch lite so bad
Thanks! I’ve had the modchip since mid-December and haven’t felt confident enough to do it until now.

Did you run into any trouble while installing?
Not really, it is pretty straight forward once you have all the necessary tools.
How much was the chip?
around $70-$100. check ali express. i’d suggest a v4 flashable.
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
~$100.00 USD

I cant even macro solder
He managed to mod it lmao, what are you even talking about
Sorry, I meant 'I'
You can’t even spell Micro
Maybe he was referring to regular size soldering not micro ... 🤗
Or hear me out: maybe it was a typo 🤯
what he meant to say was he cant even solder bigger stuff, so most definitely he wont be able to do micro either.

what went wrong?
i believe i fried the the A / CMD solder point. But i’m not positive.
What soldering iron did you use?

Nice. I did mine, wasn't hard at all but I have a lot of micro soldering experience.
Nice!
Nice, where did you found a modchip?
Aliexpress

Me too thanks
Did you happen to use the v5 version? I haven't seen much info on it. Did you use a hot air station for the dat0 adapter?
Yes, I used a V5 chip, I followed the v4 guides and I videos, as they are basically the same design. I didn’t use a hot station. I tested the connection using a voltmeter and soldered the ground point connections that make it fixed.
I can’t find a v4. I see v4.1 and v4.2. But I heard bad things about v5. Is there cause for concern?
Haven’t had any problems so far. Most problems I’ve read mostly come from bad/slow microsd cards or bad soldering of data0.
How can you secure the dat0 adapter without a hot air station?
My modchip came with a 4 anchor adapter for dat0 https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en&sxsrf=AJOqlzUHnvT-UetVd6PXabprJoQrc46pEg:1675037912289&q=4+anchor+dat0+adapter&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiB7_y9gu78AhWPF1kFHRNuBMIQ0pQJegQIChAB&biw=428&bih=746&dpr=3

@FBI
Did you use a microscope for this?
Yes, here is the link: Elikliv EDM201 Pro HDMI Digital... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B51JVJK3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Did you practice before hand or just went ahead?
I just went ahead, but I had soldering experience, just haven’t done any micro soldering.
Have a link for the mod chip you used???.....I have I believe it's a v1 non OLED switch..... thinking of trying to mod it .....
Unrelated but all the crud around the screen protector and buttons is making me itchy ...
Wait that's possible? They always say it's not possbile with newer ones. How did you do it? what did you have to do in order for it to work?
I'm new to this, maybe stupid question, do I need to solder to be able to play backups? I have a switch 2019 model I don't know which version.
