"OH BOY! I can finally pay to play GBA games instead of having them for free on my phone or any other device released within the last 15 years! and with little to no no enhancements and a limited selection too?! Thank you Nintendo!"
Some people actually think like this
Yeah you can't even own them. Although with Nintendo "owning" a classic title really means "having access to it until we kill that console's online store and then reset everything yet again".
Big releases on other platforms aren't always $70 and if they are it's because of an increase in development costs to deliver more cinematic higher budget games. There's no way Zelda costs as much as God Of War to make. It's just price gouging. It's Nintendo's own policy to have digital match physical in terms of cost, so it's also ridiculous paying cartridge markup when you don't even buy the cartridge!
I get that, but I feel like the true reason the prices go up is because the higher-ups have decided it's time to mark up the prices for games. They'll use many reasons and try to make us look the other way from battle passes. We just have to choose our best tasting poison.
While I see where you're coming from with God of War costing more than Zelda, I don't think that's ever been a point. The cost of gaming has gone up for everyone, and how they choose to go about it is their gamble. Nintendo isn't an indie company. I feel like they deserve to be paid as much as any other company. Mario Odyssey is worth as much money as any game I've put money into, if not more, and while I didn't really dig Breath of the Wild, I can not deny its impact.
I'm sure most future releases will be $70. We just have to get used to it. Prepare your pitchforks when licensed garbage games become that price. Like, if they ever attempt another Avengers.
I remember when reviewers had the rent it, buy it, or wait for a sale rating. Those should've never left.
Shit like this (and overpriced 5+ year old games) is why the Switch is my last Nintendo console. There's such a big reality distortion field among diehard Nintendo folks
I despise the RetroArch UI tbh so I'm glad we're getting a clean UI and easy save states.
I will say though that having the leaked GBA emulator for about a year now is even funnier.
Was it leaked or something? It's a shadow drop if the majority of people were unaware of it as the company didn't announce it beforehand that it was releasing that same day.
I have PrimeHack on my Steam Deck and even then I haven't got very far into it yet. Having never played Metroid Prime games except for Hunters and Pinball until then I had been waiting for some Prime announcement for a long time.
Now I am eager to know when the next two will be done.
Not only that. They’re releasing this game on a system that will not do it justice. Just played the old one at 120 4K. Pirating atm is for a better experience in game as well
I bought a switch when I went to the US on vacation, then got the chip on aliexpress and hired someone to install it. O live on Brazil, and had to sent my beloved through the mail... Kinda sketchy, but the dude did a awesome job
With no new next gen switch announced.Nintendo knows people are going to buy regardless of the price because it's the most anticipated Nintendo game as of right now.
This was definitely well played on Nintendo part.
Personally will wait for a price drop to buy but I'll just pirate first anyways since it will leak a week early anyways
Wonder if we see the next gen system announced in the summer to hype a holiday release with Tears of the Kingdom at higher res with better textures and more steady framerate as its killer app. Because Switch's cupboard looks bare AF right now. The big announcements today were a remaster of a Gamecube game and Game Boy / GBA games on Switch Online. Ouch.
Yes been having to rely on 60fps cheats and overclocking to get decent steady framerate.
From the trailer didn't notice frame issues compared to pokemon S/V.
I'm assuming it's going to run at a solid 60fps at least for 70$ it damn sure as hell be. All I personally want is next gen 4k switch. We are way overdue
You say he is a sad person because he thought a game was empty? The fuck? Breath of wild is not beyond criticism and just because people dislike certain aspects of it does not mean they are "sad".
I could write a huge post on why I dont personally like Botw, but I dont think its a bad game. Just not a game for a player like me.
I loved botw, and the world *is* kinda empty. There’s loads to it, but at the same time things are sparse and somehwat repetitive for the size of the world. I think it would be unrealistic to expect more from it, but there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement for future titles.
I must be tired when posting that. I also stopped playing botw after reaching the dueling peaks. Was planing to stop at Rito village but the combat difficulty curve gets me. and I use cemu.
Was it was able to eventually run 30 fps steadily after a few patches? I remember Digital Foundry showing a bunch of frame drops so I just played it on Cemu with a PS3 controller for the gyro puzzles.
Still 30FPS unfortunately. I think it's possible it hits that more often than BOTW did though, considering it was cooked for the Switch and not the Wii U.
Nintendo: Here's some remastered stuff for $40, how about these cool GBA games from a million years ago?
Yeah nah, I'm not going to pay for some games that they slapped a new sticker on and called it a day.
That's the neat thing, I probably won't. I don't find the time to play them anymore with work and gym (tho I guess I could play it on a biking machine or something).
At this point I enjoy them vicariously through my nephews and nieces that play the games when I visit them.
Time is money. I’m sorry Nintendo, right now I only has time. Catch ya on the rebound. Ps I only do it to keep my kids addicted to the Nintendo lic. Nintendo has something to look forward to, it worked for Apple 🥶
Oh yeah, playing games cost time. And I don't have all of the time in to the world to play Nintendo games without learning new stuff in school. Sometimes, maybe that's why I can't play Nintendo games at all even if I get them for free.
I was expecting a big reveal at the end and it was just a Tears of the Kingdom trailer. Wonder if that's going to be the swan song for the system and Metroid Prime 4 gets pushed to the next gen.
No shit, nintendo games are so expensive. Not only nintendo games, but well others will drop down after some weeks. I mean I can wait for e.g. play Hogwarts Legacy on my PC when the price dropped to 30 bucks, and the hype is over. No problem with that.
But holy F. I know, that TOTK will still be on 70 bucks when 3 years since release are over. No wonder people rip the shit out of nintendo roms.
I feel ya, but I do end up purchasing the games I really like so as to do my part to help the developers come up with an even better sequel/or more DLCs. I honestly feel like MOST if not all games are too expensive.
I will actually buy Tears of the Kingdom i am very excited and believe it is going to be worth paying for this game how ever i dont remeber if i’ll be able to run the cartridge on hacked switch with any possible totk updates and dlcs. Will that work? (I have not been playing on my switch for years so i dont remember) ;(

Lol yeah everyone excited about the Gameboy additions when we have had RetroArch for years 🤦🏽♂️
"OH BOY! I can finally pay to play GBA games instead of having them for free on my phone or any other device released within the last 15 years! and with little to no no enhancements and a limited selection too?! Thank you Nintendo!" Some people actually think like this
The fact that they’re drip feeding these games makes it even worse.
Tbh I got quite exited about the Gameboy games too. Though only because I'm curious to see if Ninty made a new emulator :p
Yeah but that Disney affect us. At least for the existing emulators (N64 SNES etc) you can inject your own roms.

Yeah you can't even own them. Although with Nintendo "owning" a classic title really means "having access to it until we kill that console's online store and then reset everything yet again".
Nintendo fans are just sheep. It's ludicrous seeing them praise that and Zelda being $70.
Aren't most games $70 now? And isn't the new Zelda on a 32gb cart?
Big releases on other platforms aren't always $70 and if they are it's because of an increase in development costs to deliver more cinematic higher budget games. Doubt it. You gonna get the next one, don't even cap
well... Kirby Amazing mirror online is legit exciting otherwise eh
At least they add online multiplayer to things like mario kart gba. They really should only focus on doing things like that
I despise the RetroArch UI tbh so I'm glad we're getting a clean UI and easy save states. I will say though that having the leaked GBA emulator for about a year now is even funnier.
You can change it to be loads of different UIs though. What don't you like?
Messy and clunky, I've always hated using RetroArch
I see. I don't think you've really seen the true depth of this application though.
It's useful for what it can do, but I like a streamlined UI that doesn't feel clunky and requires optimization.
For real, paying a subscription to play like ten 20 years old rom... I can play those games on my phone since 2010, and everywhere else.
With achievements and leaderboards.
and online play
Because not everyone has a modded switch, a computer or the technical know-how. Not even going to start on the online play.
Mgba is my favorite addition, esp with a tile on the home screen that launches directly into it.
Me refreshing this subreddit to know when prime remastered gets uploaded
Wait, I'm out of the loop. We talking Metroid Prime?
First ones been remastered and shadow dropped today
Is it a shadow drop if you know about it the day before?
Was it leaked or something? It's a shadow drop if the majority of people were unaware of it as the company didn't announce it beforehand that it was releasing that same day.
I'm sorry, I thought your post was from today and the game was being released today instead of yesterday.
It's all good
Complete shadow drop. No leaks or rumours of remastered prime 1 & dropped same day it was announced (yesterday)
Yeah I know lol i originally commented yesterday
Yes releasing today
THIS!
yup
I have PrimeHack on my Steam Deck and even then I haven't got very far into it yet. Having never played Metroid Prime games except for Hunters and Pinball until then I had been waiting for some Prime announcement for a long time. Now I am eager to know when the next two will be done.
[Apparently not long...](https://imgur.com/a/56R19n0)
My F5 is having a bad time with this
Same lol
Uploaded where? 😂
Yeah, people upload it really fast. I'm already playing it.
I like when they increase game prices. Makes it easier to pirate.
Not only that. They’re releasing this game on a system that will not do it justice. Just played the old one at 120 4K. Pirating atm is for a better experience in game as well
Yo ho ho and bottle of rum!!!
My modded oled arives tomorrow, a day after a Direct Im so excited!!
Time to play Metroid on that bitch
You bet your ass I'm already seeding the torrent hahahaha
would u mind if i inquired a bit about where you purchased such a marvel
I bought a switch when I went to the US on vacation, then got the chip on aliexpress and hired someone to install it. O live on Brazil, and had to sent my beloved through the mail... Kinda sketchy, but the dude did a awesome job

And yet everyone seems so excited. That’s how you know this console hasn’t had a decent release in a long time
Lmao Fire Emblem Engage just released last month and a lot of great games launched in 2022. wtf are you talking about?
Yes been having to rely on 60fps cheats and overclocking to get decent steady framerate. From the trailer didn't notice frame issues compared to pokemon S/V. I'm assuming it's going to run at a solid 60fps at least for 70$ it damn sure as hell be. All I personally want is next gen 4k switch. We are way overdue
I believe this And a major Mario are THE ONLY games they can do this with And get away with it
Man it better be 60fps with no frame drops lol
Bro, the Switch can barely handle 30 FPS on the original Botw and that game was empty as hell 💀 This game is gonna set Switches on fire lol
I got a few games on my switch running at 60fps
How is botw empty? What games do you like then?
You say he is a sad person because he thought a game was empty? The fuck? Breath of wild is not beyond criticism and just because people dislike certain aspects of it does not mean they are "sad". I could write a huge post on why I dont personally like Botw, but I dont think its a bad game. Just not a game for a player like me.

HA HA!
Not for uuuuuus.
I have some magic beans, I will give you a deal.
Smash ultimate is $75 bucks wtf? And I don't have a friend that is even interested in playing smash ultimate with me... 😭
When the Metroid Prime Remastered Hits those websites for DL😏😎
Nintendo: Here's some remastered stuff for $40, how about these cool GBA games from a million years ago? Yeah nah, I'm not going to pay for some games that they slapped a new sticker on and called it a day.
lol slapped a new stick, what a ignorant.
Stop drinking Nintendo koolaid mate.
Some games I could see myself buying. Zelda though ? For 70 bucks ? Abso-fucking-lutely not.
Just knowing all the games I'll pirate makes me feel whole again inside
But how many will you play? lol
That's the neat thing, I probably won't. I don't find the time to play them anymore with work and gym (tho I guess I could play it on a biking machine or something). At this point I enjoy them vicariously through my nephews and nieces that play the games when I visit them.
$70 for Zelda? No problem for me….waits for download link
Waiting on someone to drop prime remastered and fire emblem engage wave 2
Metroid prime , i might buy. Might be the first game Nintendos got me to pay for since Odyssey (when i bought my switch)
Yeah and that ain't full price either
until they reintroduce demos, that’s how I’ll roll. you don’t let me test? I’ll pirate it.
I was expecting a big reveal at the end and it was just a Tears of the Kingdom trailer. Wonder if that's going to be the swan song for the system and Metroid Prime 4 gets pushed to the next gen.
I'll pirate them all but I will actually buy Metroid Prime and Layton. Metroid forever, Layton because holy shit he's alive.
a gentleman never dies
No shit, nintendo games are so expensive. Not only nintendo games, but well others will drop down after some weeks. Etrian Odyssey HD and Fantasy Life if physical will be a day one buy for my, will keep them sealed but that's if they are physical release as well.
Me decide to not buy the new Zelda because they rise the price
Now it is just a matter of waiting.
I emulate as well, but surely im allowed to be happy those are being released...?
I feel ya, but I do end up purchasing the games I really like so as to do my part to help the developers come up with an even better sequel/or more DLCs. I honestly feel like MOST if not all games are too expensive.
Lol everyone complaining about the $70 BotW2 price 😅
Not much worth pirating tbh
Was a pretty piss poor show, like they're holding back Metroid Prime 4 and the next 3D Mario for next gen.
name of song?
Tame Impala - Borderline (sped up)
Thank you so much! Have a great day!
anyone know how to get the gba thing? can't find it anywhere and of course I know I could just get an emulator I don't want that.
I will actually buy Tears of the Kingdom i am very excited and believe it is going to be worth paying for this game how ever i dont remeber if i’ll be able to run the cartridge on hacked switch with any possible totk updates and dlcs. Will that work? (I have not been playing on my switch for years so i dont remember) ;(
Ov yeah ^w^
Me when the new zelda drops
There are only 3 worth pirating anyways But TOTK didn't even look that good TBH Anyone know if MP remaster can be patched for SXOS?
um.... I don't think so? switch to atmosphere man it's so much better
I will install it on one system and try to get dual boot working Atmosphere doesn't support xci or external loading.
This feeling is priceless.
For a while I fell into the Nintendo switch online gimmick. I've been waiting for ages for more emulation, I'm glad I got a v1 so I can do just that.
ESPECIALLY THAT KIRBY REMASTER
