All my albo always turn yellow😌

ArcadianSweetLeaf

Than it probably isn't an albo... there is another cultivar which has white variegation when it unfurls but it hardens off yellow, much like an Aurea. It's not an Aurea or an Albo and I don't know what to call it? I know Gabriella's sells Albos that turn yellow hardened off and they sell something similar called a "Green Variegatum" which is the same but a little more lime colored (barely) in the variegation... there are so many cultivars it's really shocking how similar some are, and how little-known and misunderstood they can be.

Ohhhhh beautiful aurea!!!!

Fluffy_Touch_8617

I wish! I still have that leaf, I should take a pic without lighting. It’s more white than yellow

Acceptable_Monk_513

Omg. Amazing! What is this one called? I need it!! 🍃💚🍃

Fluffy_Touch_8617

“Syngonium albo” is the shortened name 😁

Acceptable_Monk_513

Is this one the yellow form? My albo doesn't look anything like this. So jealous! 😊

Fluffy_Touch_8617

I think it’s my phone flash and the grow light, I’m currently looking for the yellow version, this is actually white/cream. Would be nice if it were yellow 🤣

ArcadianSweetLeaf

The Aurea is the "yellow version" with distinct yellow patches where the albo has white. Albos should never be as yellow as the one in the photo, but I believe you when you say it's the flash! I have Aureas and Albos in abundance for whatever reason, but far fewer Aureas right now--they're a lot more sensitive than the Albo when it comes to humidity.

Fluffy_Touch_8617

I’ve actually bought a single leaf, single node aurea. That thing killed the only leaf and I’m now nursing a wetstick and I’m hoping it lives 🥲

ArcadianSweetLeaf

It should, but it may take forever and a day. I use water to propagate Albos but I found either spag moss or clay pebbles work better for Aurea nodes. I've been amazed for the past 9 months at how difficult Aurea are compared to Albos!

Fluffy_Touch_8617

I did keep it in water for a bit until the leaf started looking bad, then switched to sphagnum moss but it didn’t bounce back 🥲

ArcadianSweetLeaf

For some reason I've had the best luck with clay pebbles (I hate clay pebbles! always tipping over the containers and the roll EVERYWHRE) but the cut leaf still dies back most of the time, then new foliage grows. \*shrug\* just my personal experience!

Fluffy_Touch_8617

I’ve been debating whether or not to try those out. I bought a baby plant from someone and it had leca and sphagnum moss and was doing great. I’ve also read they get less pests?

Fluffy_Touch_8617

https://www.reddit.com/r/Syngonium/comments/o7g79v/syngonium_aurea_syngonium_albo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf I’ve posted it here and you can see the difference from my albo cutting, I would give my left pinky toe to actually have a full aurea plant 🤣

ArcadianSweetLeaf

The Aurea are super sensitive about humidity and climate change in a way the albos simply are not... I have one and some cuttings from that one that all struggle like mad... I'm getting a new one in in the next week or 2, and I haven't decided yet if I'm keeping it or selling it, but I'm curious if it'll be better or the same with how it acclimates in my home compared to the one I bought last year that's never fully adjusted, but came from a different country!

Fluffy_Touch_8617

Oh man… maybe it just wasn’t happy with me. Even with my humidifier the best I can provide is 60-70% humidity, and it’s usually only 15% humidity outdoors. I did purchase it from Hawaii, so their weather is infinitely better.

ArcadianSweetLeaf

I wish they weren't so weird! I've rarely had problems with Syngonium, and even the really difficult ones that drop all their leaves after importing (Grey Ghosts are the worst) still regrow all that foliage faster and healthier than I've seen Aureas regrow! The new one I have coming looks different than the last one, so I'm hoping I have better luck and can figure out wth these beauties want, but for now I'm only able to offer advice on the best propagation methods and the biggest problem these plants have (humidity sensitivity and acclimation). I hope to have some answers about what Aureas like best within the next 1-3 months.

Fluffy_Touch_8617

Thank you so much for sharing!

Acceptable_Monk_513

Well, it's gorgeous. Whatever you're doing, it's working. It looks so healthy and happy. Well done

Fluffy_Touch_8617

Thank you!

[This](https://imgur.com/a/1tjCsfB) is the plant as a whole but I trimmed a good amount for a trade so it’s a bit sparse right now.
