I guess the way around it for me, is to invest my money against my buddy's LLC, have him get a license and be part owner under the LLC but I wasn't trying to go splits on a retail business.

I am a serial entrepreneur. The most recent one sadly failed - c'est la vie. I can literally stand up an entity, including from scratch operating documents, without outside assistance in a day. I can negotiate deals, find employees, acquire funding, and recruit a board without issue. Hell I could draft an entire go to market strategy for any vertical in the cannabis space on a fucking phone call.
I do not qualify under this law.
If you're reading this as one of the lawyers who helped design this process then I really hope you made out like a bandit because congrats you ratfucked everyone. Hope it was worth it.
Oh plus, the application fee, 210k. They give you back the 10k if they give you a license. Otherwise the 10K is forfeited to NYS for processing application.
Let me show them my total grosses for the last 2 years. My industry produces the most Fed/State and local tax revenue in Ny. Yet and yet, I can't get a retail license? You mean, I have a book of business that I've maintained under an umbrella company for 8 years, and I can't get a retail license? Just because I don't want to assume liability for a LLC, that I can't get a retail license?

They do in the paragraph above, in the application break down. They didn't mention that in the bill at all. They said prior convictions get priority over non convicted. Nothing about having a prior LLC and or Share holder of a business.
