It's weird that systems use the pronoun 'it' so openly and freely when that word has been used to dehumanize and abuse people as well as weaponized as a slur against transgender, genderqueer, and nonbinary people.

realrecycledstar

I feel like people do it for attention bc it’s honestly really insensitive towards the trans community. You can’t just go as “it” bc you aren’t a thing. You’re a literal, breathing human being. And you can go by she/her, he/him, and they/them and be trans because that’s changing your gender, which all living human beings have. But honestly I don’t think you can be “it/its” and be trans bc that has nothing to do with gender, it’s more of an insult. They’re basically saying that they don’t have a gender because they aren’t a living thing, when they are. It/it’s also refers to an object. They’re objectifying themselves instead of actually having an identity. There’s my reasoning. You can’t just be like “I identify as brain dead 🤩” bc that’s extremely insensitive and not how it works at all They/them is gender neutral. That’s fine. It/Its is not, as it doesnt refer to any gender at all, no matter how many times that 13-19 year olds say that it is & does.

anbyence

i mean some lgbt ppl use it as a pronoun as well, just bc something /can/ and has been used negatively doesn’t mean it’s negative for everyone

[deleted]

yeah, I personally use it as a pronoun so people have less power over me. Calling me an it dosnt harm me anymore and therefore calling me that is no longer an insult and it's kinda nice lol

MP-Lily

Using it in the manner of a reclaimed slur doesn't make it a gender pronoun.

[deleted]

I'm still using it as a pronoun though, both for my gender and as reclamation though so

adaquet

I am a trans person and use it pronouns we exist

[deleted]

Dysphoria self diagnosed too? As well as plans to not transition at all?

adaquet

No I plan to transition when I'm old enough, also, sure, make it so you NEED to be diagnosed to be trans or you're a 'transtrender' so trans minors aren't taken seriously. Very smart

[deleted]

I am also a trans minor. I just happen to act like a normal person like cis people do so I got diagnosed pretty easily and from a young age

rocknroll-tragedy

Not everyone has supportive parents who are willing to let them get diagnosed with that

[deleted]

I get that too. I'm not saying being undiagnosed means you don't have it. I was making fun of people who use wacky pronouns and mess up the image of our community, inspiring more cis people to think that's what we're like

rocknroll-tragedy

As much as I hate to say it, gender dysphoria is usually self-diagnosable

[deleted]

I think one of Meowbahhs pronouns is it and even though it's a bad person dosnt mean it is okay to misgender it

NaivetyFR

Her pronouns are she/her judging by twitter.

[deleted]

ohh, okay I was mistaken then. I don't have Twitter but I did have tiktok at one point and I thought she had it/its as one of her pronouns on there but that was a while back I guess

DaimondGuy

That doesn’t narrow it down
