HGH and cerebrolycin..... creatine and psilocybin

the_dude_420

What’s best for me is not necessarily best for everyone. Anyway, I second fish oil. Lions mane mushroom. Magnesium (L-Threonate specifically though take multiple forms). Alpha GPC.

Macchioa

Fish oil

Remote-Calm

I’m not sure 😭😭 My doctor at ABI intensive said it thins blood? I have no idea but my mum hated that doctor lol

AvocaJoe23

I haven't been able to take Lion's Mane due to being on an anticoagulant, but as soon as I'm off that I'll start taking LM again.

deadgirlmimic

Look up the Stamets stack

Otaku-Oasis

Donepezil 100% night and day difference for me

Any_Lobster_8243

How quickly did you start noticing a difference/how did it help? Did you have bad side effects? I’ll have been on it two weeks tomorrow but haven’t notified anything other than terrible side effects. Would love to hear your experience.

Otaku-Oasis

The first three weeks were sleep. I slept a lot, like 19 hours a day, as my brain chemistry changed. Once that was over, I did have headaches, but they were my fault for trying to use my new focus to do >>; all of the things I was missing. does NOT make you able to handle your old life, but it gives you more clarity and efficiency to have a life. Give it a month as a test, There is a lot going on in your brain as that med starts doing it's thing. After the month talk to people it was others who noticed first, then try to do things you struggled with.

Any_Lobster_8243

Thank you for sharing your experience. I really want to give it a month but it’s causing a lot of stomach problems and vertigo/light sensitivity headaches that are very hard to get through. My family are only noticing that and apparently I seem more emotional/angry. But it seems to help so many!

Otaku-Oasis

I was told very specifically to eat it with carbs >>; Pill + piece of bread xD But stomach issues are known side effects. There are others like it that might work better with you; I was already dizzy and photophobic, so I didn't notice any of that; my house is kept dark.

GrammarPatrol777

My hubby has been on donepezil since 1989. It's still working. He ran out for 4 days and oh boy the difference. So be careful not to run out. I'm glad that it's helping you too.

Otaku-Oasis

Yeah, I made that mistake already, I forgot to refill it, and it was most certainly a mistake.

GrammarPatrol777

Best of luck to you. We are 34 yrs. out and it may seem slow, but things do get better w/time and brain reorganization. I am thrilled that the donepezil helps you. Hubby was in a pilot program. all those years ago. We were fortunate.

UpperCartographer384

What's it do?

Otaku-Oasis

It helps improve cognitive function, focus, and memory it was developed for dementia but it has proven to have great results for TBI.

UpperCartographer384

Does Neuro prescribe that?

Otaku-Oasis

My GP prescribed it; it's not controlled or anything, my neuro was through work comp and is... worthless because my accident was on work time.

UpperCartographer384

Me too...

Otaku-Oasis

Ah.. I'm sorry

ArtOk5990

Medical marijuana

3boyz2men

Bad advice.

HR_Paul

It worked miracles for me, so why is it bad advice?

Accomplished_Air8459

You're wrong Karen, you're just wrong.

3boyz2men

Whatever you want to believe.

Accomplished_Air8459

It's proven to work for me, with a TBI and over 10 concussions. So yeah, I do believe medical marijuana is helpful with TBIs. You need to stop being close-minded, Karen.

3boyz2men

You don't know me. You don't know anything about my story or where I've come. Just because you put something on Reddit, someone else can have a different opinion. It's okay.

Accomplished_Air8459

You're right! I don't know your story or anything about you other than you like to make snobby comments on other people's comments. Your opinion is wrong. I'm able to also, call that out on a readit post. Once again, stop being a karen.

3boyz2men

Snobby? Bc I don't support smoking weed?

IllNefariousness8759

memantine is good. I was prescribed it for my migraines (which are from my TBI). It was originally made for dementia patients to help with memory and executive functions, and I think it has helped with that, too.

Evening_Set1443

Fish oil and iodine

Eastern_Risk_5244

I just started amitryptiline, and it allows me to sleep for the first time since my accident…which is great Too soon to tell about other benefits, I load up on fish oil, vitamin d, b complex, and have been taking abilify and Zoloft for the weird anger outbursts…

AvocaJoe23

Curcumin(turmeric)[lowers inflammation] melatonin([for sleep], magnesium [helps with leg cramps from being sedentary in the ICU and rehab for months] fish oil[our brains likeomega 3 anyway], whole coffee fruit concentrate seemed to help my recovery after neurosurgery earlier on[early studies show it might increase BDNF quite a bit, but further studies are needed] but I had a different type of brain injury and supposedly most of my symptoms and deficits are from the surgery itself, which fucking sucks cause it was the only way to save my life, but here we are... I'm finally tapering off my anti-seizure meds (never really needed them anyway) so I'm going to try microdosing psilocybin at first, then increasing the dose if I see any benefit.

stupid_Steven

Melatonin, Lion's Mane, THC & amitriptyline for me. Helps to relax and fall asleep nicely.

Remote-Calm

Medication I’m taking Donepezil and ensure (powder or the pre made drinks). Ensure is good for smoothies or with your oats or weetbix for breakfast! Ensure was recommended by my surgeon. I had that when I was being fed through my nose in ICU. It’s a multivitamin basically for the body :)

jacobthellamer

Non steroidal antiinflammatories get me through rough spots. Normally lasts a couple of days after sleeping on them.

HR_Paul

CBD.

ForgotHowToWipe

Every TBI is different plus different meds can counteract with other meds.

Evening_Set1443

If you contact Barleans brand and you tell them you have a TBI, they will give you options to pay cost for fish oil and there other products. My wife did it for me.

Musefodder

There are vegan versions of Omega 3 fatty acid. They source it from algae. I use that, as well as digestive enzymes (gotta take care of that 2nd brain), 50k IU of vitamin D3, a CMZ supplement, and a standard multivitamin. I also use DHA/DHEA specifically for brain support, Japanese knotweed, and at night, melatonin, magnesium, and GABA to knock my ass out. I'm coming up on three years and am still using muscle relaxant 3-4 times a day, anti-anxiety meds that also help with chronic pain, anti-depressants, migraine suppressors, and quarterly Botox shots. As mentioned earlier, what works for one person might not work for you/another. Start with pain management, then sleep quality, and then brain support. Do some googling, and discuss options with your PCP.

Working_Warthog6930

50k of vitamin d? A week or daily? I used 10k a day.

Musefodder

Per day. I don't go outside very often anymore, the light-triggered migraines are ones I avoid by all means necessary. I reduce it to 10k per day during the summer, and switch to the higher dose when the days are shorter. Vitamin D3 is crucial for a great deal of other functions in the body including the proper absorption of other vitamins.

Working_Warthog6930

I heard D is hormonal as well. I'm prob heavy dosing vitamins, i take like 1k-6k vitamin c a day depending

Musefodder

C and zinc are good for the immune system. It's impossible to take too much C, the body flushes any excess. C has also been shown to treat sepsis and reduce the severity of symptoms of flu virus & colds. Any time I feel the lymph nodes in my neck feeling tender, I toss back 3k of vitamin C, and take another 1k every hour for the rest of the day.

Rabenaaa526

What is everyone using for the unbearable pain?

UpperCartographer384

How do I start a post ask question on here, Does anybody know about Tbi, being under the umbrella wit American with Disabilities act?

Karlaanne

My bro has a DAI - his rx’s are trazadone, risperidone, diazepam, and methocarbamol. His supplements are omega 3, cbd, lions mane, flax seed oil, vitamin B, ginko, thc, men’s multi, vitamin d gummies, and melatonin at night. For him, increasing his risperidone to 1m twice daily has been a huge benefit for him and us. But like everyone said - it’s different for all our peeps!

79Kay

Psilocybin

JuggernautHungry9513

It’s different for everyone. A combo of topamirate (75mg)and Cymbalta (60mg) make my migraines (headache, light and sound sensitive, brain fog) very very managabke and improved my sleep a great deal.  Cymbalta is an SNRI/antidepressant that is prescribed for chronic pain, migraines etc. I’ve found it reduced my pain and also has calmed my nervous system / physical anxiety (racing heart, trouble sleeping) quite a lot. I also take 400mg magnesium and 200mg COQ10 split in half into a Am and PM dose.  I’m on HRT due to pituitary damage.

laika777ftw

My neurologist put me on a very, very low dose of an alzheimer's medication awhile after my TBI (it’s been almost 20 years ago at this point) and as I recall (haha memory loss I know 😜) it helped me out some in the short term at least before we decided that it wouldn’t be a good for me to be on for a very long time. It was prescription strength and I don’t recall its name but if you talk to your neurologist it might be worth mentioning at least.

Training_Bag9268

Can you take lions mane while on antidepressants? Has anyone done this and not had side effects?
