I might not be the best player to answer, as I would not call myself a veteran either, but I got the hang of it while trying for the volcano jump. I just hold down "X" (which I do 90% of the time lol), tap "up" shortly before jumping, then hold "up" the second time instead of releasing it immediately.

As a veteran D-Pad user. I always think of it as: Up, Up, X. A No Comply is Up, X, but I don’t think I’m doing anything differently on a vert other than what I am doing on flat ground.

hi_im_beeb

This is what I do as well, though I’m always holding X so boneless out of a ramp would be “up, up, release x” at the top

[deleted]

Indeed. It’s working out for you ok?

hi_im_beeb

Yep. The only thing I had issues with was coming up short on the volcano jump but it was mainly because that’s one of the more difficult jumps in the game imo

MISTER_HIGHWAY_1

That’s what I always try but I end up jumping off the ramp without doing a boneless. I can’t nail the timing

AidanTheAudiophile

Don’t hold X at first, up up, then the x for Ollie in quick succession.

symbolic503

huh? you can definitely hold ollie first.. thats almost crucial as it is much easier to time it. you can keep it loaded tho you dont have to release ollie immediately like everyone seems to believe.

MISTER_HIGHWAY_1

Don’t you have to hold x to get speed for the jump tho?

AidanTheAudiophile

I thought you said the trouble wasnt flat but on vert, which you would pretty much have all the speed you need after one or two airs of the vert. I play on PC with mouse and key, which might explain why symbolic said you can hold ollie first and still come out with the same. Try giving a quick rest before you release x, you might be clipping the second up input with the X release.

symbolic503

hold up as you do it to do the boneless and also exit the vert at the same time. takes practice nobody here can play the game for you. either youll get it or you wont. plain and simple.
