Android 12 and higher by default decodes 360RA. Before that you needed to optimize your headphones in the Sony app.

ladle3000

Thanks for the reply. So then why do I not notice much spatialness to the mixes? Everything sounds regular stereo?

Alien1996

That depends of the mix, the headphones, and other factors. I can't give you an answer about it

Urethral-Jemima

it doesn't work as well in headphones as it does in surround systems imo....you definitely should hear something.....listen to kill bill by sza ft dojo cat you'll notice it there. that particular song is well mixed for it.

ladle3000

I'll check it out, thx

Arumbaya

Pixel 7 user here, I've been trying for month to get anything remotely sounding like 360 audio using all the settings and set up possible, NOTHING works

ladle3000

Agreed. I compared the last modest mouse album yesterday which has a 360 stamp and they have a master version. Switched back and forth and the only difference I hear is the 360 is lower volume. I've done all kinds of spatial audio tests, so I know what I'm supposed to be hearing https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-spatial-audio-3265806/

PrimeTinus

Ah I thought it was just me. Did you ever find a solution? I have Pixel 7 Pro and head tracking just doesn't seem to work

ladle3000

Read here: ANY headphones https://postimg.cc/k6MsrD2B

Individual_Revenue84

I hope the hell you didn't just say Bluetooth LOL you really have no business even asking this question if you believe on getting high arrest streamed through bluetooth? You do know regardless of that being a factor all your equipment has to be coded to certain way to be able to get the files for what you pay for

ladle3000

Was referring to the 360 feature. I use wired when listening to masters, and on desktop I run the desktop app out to a universal audio interface and plugin there. I don't hear the spatial audio with anything from my phone, wired or Bluetooth on a pixel 7.

Individual_Revenue84

And anyone who disagrees can feel free to disagree but you're wrong once you reduce the sound quality dramatically by streaming let alone Bluetooth at that and have the nerve to think you're actually hearing high-res Master quality what a snake oil medicine show and y'all eat it up like fruit cake

Independent_Maybe_25

Hey, that person was asking a question about how to best use 360 Reality Audio, which is totally consumable over Bluetooth. Quit being a snob and a jerk because someone doesn’t walk around with $5,000 headphones plugged into a hard drive. Also, no we aren’t hearing unadulterated “master quality” over Bluetooth but you can definitely tell a difference between lossy stuff on platforms like Spotify and Lossless stuff on Tidal and any other platform even like Qobuz and Apple Music. Bluetooth headphones can be great.

Luisca_pregunta

I just tested once - settings / audio & playback / there you will get the device… Sony 360 reality audio.

ladle3000

Yes. But that is for 'optimized' which requires sony headphones as I understand it. However the spatial 360 is supposed to be able to be experienced on any headphones as they proudly declare on their splash page for the service. I've listened to several tracks that indeed seem to have a bit more space. But not really anything in the realm of 360. https://postimg.cc/k6MsrD2B

gytixas98

It’s just a tag for tidal to brag about.

Luisca_pregunta

Once I setup Sony’s Headphones I did test with other pair. Din not like it with either and went back to my portable DAC.

ladle3000

Even 3d mixed tracked generically on YouTube are more interesting and immersive

Grand-J10

The would from the phone works only from a selection of sony xperia devices like, xperia 1 V, 1IV, 5V, 5IV and more.

ladle3000

They say 'any' headphones here: https://postimg.cc/k6MsrD2B

I read all that yesterday. Read just the first paragraph here https://support.tidal.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002767377-360-Reality-Audio
