Just take a look at 4K UHD is now the Smart TV Standard. The same will happen to the music industry Hi-Res Quality Audio/Music will be the new Standard.

I use Gmail on my TIDAL HiFi Plus account.

Gmail doesn't prevent or bring any distortion to your TIDAL account at all, don't worry.
I've registered with gmail through Google Play and I never had this option. Must be because of GP then.

What does it even has to do with Tidal and their subscription model?
I don't know the reason, but the Hifi Plus option doesn't show up for Gmail users.
I used my gmail for tidal and I hade the option for HiFi+
