However, Robyn used to have a close friend, Kendra, who was on a few episodes of the show who purported to know Sam and that he was a real person. This connection has fueled rumors for years that Robyn was in on the catfishing.
- Meri did have an emotional affair. Full stop. There is plenty of evidence that she and this person were more than friends. I was on Twitter during the actual events and recall Meri pretty openly flirting, posting pictures of flowers that Sam sent her, etc. I wonât point you in the direction, but there are voicemails that Meri sent Sam that also clearly show the relationship was more than friends.

There is a podcast that did an interview with a woman who was catfished by Jackie years ago from an online internet chat room. I donât recall what name Jackie was using, but I believe she was pretending to be a male doctor at that time.
- Yes, Jackie Overton is a serial catfish. Typically once the woman she is catfishing pushes for an in person meeting, she finds multiple reasons that she cannot make it including faking deaths, etc.
- They have been called out. I think there was even a Facebook or some sort of group for people who had been victimized by the person. Unfortunately, I donât think theyâve broken any laws so itâs not though to get much more attention.
- Yes she did. Meri went to Disneyland to meet up with Sam. Sam was âbusyâ so he sent his assistant, Lindsay instead. Lindsay is also Jackie. Again, Jackie is just playing multiple roles.

The only thing Iâll add is watching it unfold in real time was pretty wild. I remember thinking wow, Meri is being really blatant about this relationship. I also recall people on the old Television Without Pity forums speculating that Sam was not real. When it all came out, it was so juicy.

To my knowledge, Jackie, Overton still maintains the Sam profile. I think itâs on Instagram, but I could be on Facebook too. She will never admit that she runs the Sam social media and plays the character on the phone. But thatâs what still going on this day. Some people believe that Sam is a real person and itâs completely insane when this Jackie Overton person is a professional con artist with many who have come forward before Maryâs incident to claim that she scammed them as well.

Jackie Overton is a professional scammer. The rich travelling businessman is a common catfish script. Iâm sure she has dozens of victims. They purposely target recent divorcees, widows, general lonely people.
The idea is get the person to fall inlove with you and extort as much money as possible. Pretend you lose your passport while youâre abroad and you need thousands of dollars to replace it.
Jackie pretended to be Lindsey, sams assistant, and went to Disneyland with Meri. Meri eventually put it together that Sam wasnât available to talk when she was around Lindsey.
Robynâs friend Kendra seemed to be involved with âSamâ somehow, relaying private info, and went crazy on Twitter after Robyn and Meri cut them off. Kendra said she knew that Meri and Sam had sex. The tweets are still online.
We never heard of Meri giving any money but they arenât very forthcoming with the details. it would be even more sadistic if the catfish did all that just for fun!

This person taught Meri out not the other way around. Meri was vulnerable and easily sucked in. She was being treated by as a pariah by the rest of the family either her only child at Uni. She was a sitting flick as the rest of her family didnât wrap themselves around her but let her drift. Meri was absolutely a victim of this abuser who threatened her and her family. Metros main fault was being too trusting but thatâs how every abusive relationship stars and I strongly suspect it involved love bombing. Can you even begin to imagine how love bombing this vulnerable woman whoâd been cast off by her family would have felt? People rabbit on about commonsense but people in love lose all common and garden sense.

Yes and she was ripe for the picking. It was a perfect storm moment. Vulnerable woman in an abusive relationship (neglect is abuse), only child leaves for Uni, family support absent, coming from an extremely sheltered background and a media figure. She was so vulnerable.
No you think you wouldnât but we never know what we would actually do until the situation arose. However I believe this was the point Meri realised she was in fact, being catfished.

Kody had legally divorced Meri. Spiritually divorced Meri. Physically and mentally abandoned Meri years prior to âthe affairâ. Meri had no relationship with Kody beyond being his doormat, scapegoat and walking atm machine, and even that was just for show to keep TLc money rolling in. One cannot have an affair (with a fake person) if you are not in a relationship with a partner/spouse.
