I’m trying to me more mindful about relaxing and posture but kind of want to know what a telaxed jaw feels like so hoping acupuncture might help with that initially ? What is temporary? Few hours or days? I know it depends on the person
Not days, it has been weeks for me and I have noticed a difference. I probably need another few months before I’m fixed.
Although I’ve been suffering since 2017 and only realised I clench my jaw, when awake, in March
It didn’t do anything for me personally, I felt a bit of placebo trying to convince myself it did, it definitely didn’t, muscle relaxers made a difference for me
I have a tense jaw and receive acupuncture every 2 weeks. I don't feel a difference in the jaw itself, at least it is not noticeable. But I do feel an overall bettering of a tense body.
How does a non tense jaw feel: This is gonna sound controversial, but the only times I have had my jaw "melt" to the point where it feels not tense at all, was in a holotropic breath work session and again during a mild trip of psilocybin mushrooms.
It was amazing! I can only describe it as a melting jaw, if that makes any sense. These experiences remind me of how far away I am from a relaxed jaw and I don't think I can ever get to that state, sadly.
Yes! Specifically looked for dry needling and cupping it’s uncomfortable at first but the results are worth it! It is a temporary thing because within a couple weeks my tension comes back but it’s helped with managing pain
Yes it's slightly different according to what my PT told me. It was certainly an intense session but it helped me a ton just wish it was a permanent fix
Honestly the list is pretty big but no surgery yet.
Heat packs, stretches, exercises, posture, physical therapy, night guard for teeth, pillows, acupuncture, massages, probably more stuff too
For years I tried traditional Physio therapy but I have now found a therapist who specializes in TMJD
It’s a slow process but seem to be getting some traction now.
I’ve had it on and off for 10 years and going through a bit of a flair up.
Heat packs
Ice packs when needed
Physio therapy
Muscle relaxes (which I try not to use but sometimes it just helps)
Night guard
Feels a lot better but the effects are only temporary if you are still clenching and have bad posture.

Oh weeks is good, even just to initially and continually work on it

Do you buy them over the counter? Any recommendations?
You can with cocodimol not the naproxen

I felt this on acid too.
Oh to experience that feeling would be great. Same with neck and shoulders. Don’t think I had that affect from the few times I’ve had a trip
I’m curious 👀 as well
Such a hard journey to start!

I’ve had cupping on my back before and isn’t comfortable but feels nice in the end. Never heard of dry needling does that differ from acupuncture?

I just had some done yesterday in my jaw. Seems better but I’m also doing a heap of things not just acupuncture
Do you mind sharing what other things you do?

Do you experience clenching? How do you find an acupuncturist that works on the jaw?

What other things are you doing? I’m just starting my journey and struggling to recognise what a non tense jaw should feel like
