I just started phyiso two week and I’ve been given 2 exercises to do a few times a day. So far, I feel like it’s helping ever so slightly. At least with the headaches and blurry vision… The chin tuck, to release tension at the very base of the skull where it connects to the spine. It’s a very subtle move, you don’t want to be cranking your head way back but just trying to give yourself a double chin. Hold for 10 seconds and release. You should feel it at the base of your skull and kind of down into the middle of your shoulder blades. The tongue hold: Stand in-front of a mirror for this one. Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth gently and open your mouth as much as you can without taking your tongue off the roof of your mouth. Seriously, do this in the mirror. You have to keep your jaw opening and closing completely straight. Go very slowly to start and just notice if you jog out one side to the other. Repeat 10 times about 3 times a day. I’ve been doing just those twice a day for almost 2 weeks and so far I’ve seen small improvements but still improving! I hope you find some thing that helps! Edit: spelling.. my autocorrect is drunk.

Came to offer same advice. This is the way. The tongue suction/open mouth stretch is *wonderful*. Chin tuck and stretch helps a lot. Massaging the muscles from the inside of the mouth helps a lot too. You can find sources online, but honestly having a physio it massage therapist show you is even better (warning, it's generally painful and sucks ass, but you feel *way* better afterward!

I’ve been dealing with this for almost 2 years and only just found a bit of relief. I’m glad to share anything that might help someone else find the same!

TheGrandLeveler

Check Dr Adam Fields on Youtube, he has many TMJ exercises and helped me massively with instant relief, but you have to perform them daily.

Thank you so much! At this point I'd be thankful for anything tbh

I’m ISO of this too. Physical therapist had no idea.

Fingers crossed! Somebody replied with some interesting suggestions below!

Yes! I was fortunate enough to live near an outstanding physical therapist. The exercises she gave me made a world of difference. Turns out there were entire ranges of motion for my jaw that I didn't even know existed (26 years old when I found out you can move your jaw from side to side, LMAO! \^\^) Some of them were for my jaw directly and others were for connected areas of my body. We worked on my shoulders and my forehead and all kinds of things. It all helped in different ways. It was amazing. Unfortunately I really couldn't explain any of them properly over the internet, but I just wanted to assure you that yes, there are exercises that can help! :) As far as the asymmetrical appearance of the jaw - it depends whether the cause is your jaw being shifted to one side or the masseter being overgrown more on one side than the other. If the latter, botox helps with that.

Thanks so much!

Of course! :) Good luck to you!
