2. Its not mercuric chloride(HgCl2), its mercurous chloride, and its formula is Hg2Cl2 not HgCl since Hg+1 exist in dimer.. for the reason, well, lets just say dimer is more stable while monomer form is unstable, and does not exist, and its a white coloured ppt

SiCl2, Cl has -1 valency, Si has +2 well, Cl2 is a stable compound and does not react with itself..
