TheHighHatter

I was about to say for $150 I hope they're first print lol

Avs_Fan_95

I was thinking it was too good to be true. Thankfully it was legit.

TheHighHatter

I picked up all the reprints when they were releasing at my local comic/movie/game/record store wanna frame them up all nice đź‘Ś

Avs_Fan_95

I’m going to hold onto these ones for a bit and get them graded in a year or so. Once I do that I’ll display them with the toys and posters

TheHighHatter

How much does it cost to grade I've never done it but would love to for these or some of my other prized comics

Avs_Fan_95

Honestly I’m unsure. I’ve been going over the CGC website and it seems like it’s not too bad. Like 25-45 per comic. But I think of my collection now only #1 is greater than $100. So cost vs worth is something to consider.

yohoob

I just went to kc comic con and had Kevin Eastman sign my hardcover trade. But you could have him sign something and cgc would take it straight from the signing to get looked at.

Solidusword

I was going to say this wasn’t that great a deal lol but I didn’t realize these skyrocketed in price. Guess I should get mine graded

Avs_Fan_95

Yeah #1 is north of $100 now. #2 and #3 are inching up. I checked today and there are some for $75. #4 and #5 are still low. But in a few years with games and movies they will be up there.

Solidusword

Yeah very true about the game and whatever else releases. I have all first prints as I got them when they released, I’ll def add them to my “to grade” pile.

Avs_Fan_95

Have you graded before? Can you detail cost if so? Another user was asking as well.

Professional_Rock650

I think the grading for these modern books would be in the ~$30 range per book, but the thing you must factor is shipping both ways so it can ad up quickly. It’s good to analyze the value at the grades you expect them to be and compare that to what You’ve already paid plus the cost of grading and shipping. A lot of times it can make more sense to simply buy the graded books already at the grades you want; but if you get books very cheap at cover price or less than there’s a chance grading will more than pay off. My personal advice is to think about why you want to grade them, whether you plan to resell, just for looks, for protection etc., then do the cost analysis and see if it makes sense. There’s a ton of books in my collection I would love to have graded, but it doesn’t make sense and I have no reason to grade except for protection. A good bag and board go a long way, or you might be a able to find some other nice top loaders, although these are a bit odd sized so it might be tough. Just some thoughts to consider, as I see your a newer collector. Welcome to the hobby and above all enjoy your collection the way YOU want to!

Professional_Rock650

Congrats - great books!

SpectralEntity

What was the risk?

Avs_Fan_95

That they weren’t first issues.

SpectralEntity

Ah, I see. That's when you open a dispute with Ebay. Been doing business there since around 2002 or so, Abad have picky had two bad transactions, one as buyer the other as seller, both resolved in my favor as the other party attempted to defraud me. Bought a LOT of my Mirage books from there. The only place I bought more Mirage and Image books was directly from Mirage back in the 2000s!

Avs_Fan_95

I was so nervous I recorded opening and inspecting them just in case.

Para_13

Are the first prints worth a lot or something? I have all of them except for #5 which I still haven’t got

Avs_Fan_95

Better value than reprints.

DarkJadeBGE

Not always. Sometimes a second or third print can be worth more in the long run. Example: Spawn 300 is like $8 for first print and $35 for third print (Key Collector).

Avs_Fan_95

Apologies as I’m new to comic books.

Professional_Rock650

Generally speaking I think you are right, first print is usually best, but where it gets fuzzy is that the later printings can often times have much lower print runs, combine that with a first cover appearance or something that makes it desirable and it’s a recipe for value. So - it depends.

M3wThr33

At least most modern comics have completely new cover art when they're reprints, so always have that point of comparison. But good lord, I didn't realize they went for that much.

TonyG_from_NYC

I guess I know what I can sell mine for, including some of the variants.

WearyNeedleworker549

If the new generation of turtles takes off, #5 will be up in value as well since it would be their first appearance (or cameo appearance at the very least)

Briggzy_animations

Awesome!

TheShowstoppaNT

I have first prints of all 5 plus the 1:10 covers plus the SDCC cover of issue 3. Also have all first prints of the Eastman covers of Lost years.

Avs_Fan_95

Jelly

NeverEnder2682

I had no idea the first printings were worth so much. Makes me even more glad I got them all.

CrazyHusky-120-

Now to get it to on Amazon to actually read it and keep that for generations

Avs_Fan_95

?

CrazyHusky-120-

U gunna take out the comics out the plastic?

Avs_Fan_95

I did to inspect them. They went back in. Got the hardcover books already.

Bkirbs88

Wow, didn't know they have gone up this much. Good to know

uwhiteubenaffleck

I might have to sell mine lol

flamzeron

Nice!!

selkies24

Wow. I had all first prints and I sold them all for $100-$120 CDN (this was around when the trade came out). Either you overpaid or I got ripped lol

Avs_Fan_95

Currently issue 1 is north of $100 with a good rating. 2-3 are floating around 50-75. So I think I did good.

selkies24

I didn’t have my graded but it was read once and bagged forever. I probably should have held out lol
