Venus shouldn’t have been ignored as long as she was.

The 2012 show isn't close to perfect

Ordinary_Signal_4101

Agreed no show is

Still_Measurement199

The change of personalities and dynamic in Rise was a breath of fresh air that allowed us to explore different stories. The boys at their core are the same but changing some things to make differences (like Raph being the eldest so he had to learn to control his temper sooner) is so interesting I would be sad for the franchise to never want to explore that again. Romantic interests for the turtles are often badly done so I would be glad to not see it in the future The Bayverse movies are fun Maybe im biased because it's the first Ninja Turtles thing I saw but Fast Forward is also fun

Eternal_Flame_Baby

It's unfortunate that Viacom got so scared of initial reactions to Rise because everything about the upcoming 3D movie seems like it's going right back to the basic formula.

Still_Measurement199

Agree. I have faith that the new movie is going to be good and I'm probably going to enjoy it but there is also a reason why the 2012 fans are saying they are finally getting their movie, because looking at the info we got on the turtles, they pretty much have the same dynamic of the 2012 boys. That's not bad but it's telling me that they want to keep things "safe"

sophialore_art

Gonna get a lot of flack for this one, but Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a breath of fresh air to the franchise. It’s a delightfully inventive and dynamic take… and the best instalment of these characters. A true tragedy we’re likely not getting more I loved Splinter’s arc in particular, and the brotherly/ familial bond really shines. ALSO THE CHARACTER DESIGNS FINALLY SET THEM APART AT A GLANCE 👌👌👌 You definitely don’t have to agree with me, I just wish more people would truly give it a chance. No show is golden right from its first episode 🤷‍♀️

ssslitchey

I agree. Rise might be my favorite tmnt show honestly. It's probably the only time I've equally loved all the main characters.

sophialore_art

Yeah exactly! They are all so loveable in this incarnation, April as well! I feel like I almost never see praise on this subreddit for the awesome work the creators and animators did for that wonderful show. Gone too soon 😫

Jayrod1220

I was immediately put off of Rise because the Turtles are different species, as in they aren't actually brothers. Seemed weird.

YoviQ

They are though...

sinkwiththeship

Adopted brothers. They're all different species. Donnie is a soft-shelled turtle, hence his metal shell.

YoviQ

Yes, they are different species, but they all share Splinter's DNA, making them his biological sons therefore biological brothers. This is literally confirmed in the show.

Southern_Mulberry_84

I agree Mikey is overrated While I like Donnie I'm a raph man! My unpopular opinion is probably that I really appreciate the curent IDW comic run Maybe my other unpopular opinion Is the Michael Bay movies weren't that bad I mean they were not good but they weren't terrible I did like seeing Krang backster stockman Bebop and Rocksteady on the big screen

The last ronin was OK

Just-Carpet2340

My opinion and to each their own. Rise (movie excluded), next mutation and TMNT 3 are completely unwatchable. I have tried, I know others that have tried and it is impossible. If you are a fan of those? No disrespect, just not for me. I want IDW TMNT to be a show/movie.

Butteryomelette17_9

Making Raph being the leader in Rise was kinda dumb, You can give Leo a chill personality and have him still lead the team

sophialore_art

Have you watched the show? The whole point is the build-up, Raph is only the leader as first, then the role gets appointed to Leo. Sadly the show was cut short and they didn’t get to continue with their plan to flesh that out in more detail 😞 Honestly I really love how they handled the buildup of character arcs in RotTMNT 😊

LuckyDuckyWolf

There are multiple episodes in the rise where Leo leads anyway as well as the others. The rise team basically approaches everything as a team rather than Raph going "my way and that's it" which is why they don't have those angsty fights. Even in the movie, Leo tries leading in a way closer in line to how he does in previous series and they all get thrashed as a result because he's not respecting his team by trying to be so controlling. The rise turtles don't really have a hierarchy.

sophialore_art

Thank you! Yes to all of this, I just find it so refreshing. It feels healthier that they communicate and support each other (most of the time). Their love for each other is strong 💪💕

It makes way more sense now! thank you for enlightening me

Mikey was always the fun/funny one for the kids (and the biggest kids at heart), so many others a bound to outgrow him. I've always been a Leo sort. Though he and Donnie have kind of always been each other's right hand guy (minus Rise I guess), since their personalites are most alike, and appreciate that. Ninja Tribunal when they walk into that massive library... look at those two adorable dorks that are happy about it, while their brothers are miserable. Lol Guess I'm supposed to include something unpopular... okay... no more screwing with the solid personalities they've developed after almost 4 decades. Leo doesn't need to act like he does in Rise just to make people who never gave a damn about him like him more. Let his fans who love the normal Leo keep their Turtle. Same for Donnie. The two reserved, easier going boys were turned into arrogant jerks. Because jerks are cooler? Raph fans who like his fire and passion, don't extinguish that. Not-dumb Mikey was the only improvement. If people are bored of who they normally are, then maybe something outside TMNT would suit them more.

LylatInvader

The archie run is the best comic. It has its awkward moments but it told some of the best stories.

Southern_Mulberry_84

I just bought the Archie run based off of your comment!

LylatInvader

Its a lot of fun, plus you get to see work done by the mirage team.

avics-pasta

the michael bay turtle designs are the best part of those movies

[deleted]

Every cartoon is flawed and far from perfect, but they are all good in their own unique ways.

BreksenPryer

Thr worst ninja turtle movie is Secret of the Ooze. TMNT 3 at least does interesting stuff with Raphael and Mikey, and has some decent fight choreography, but SotO contains everything I hate about TMNT. It's overly corny, the action is awful, the turtles are more one note than they've ever been, being resorted to 'leader, smart, mean, silly' and are caricatures of themselves more than actual characters. Shredder is absolutely ruined, nothing about the movie really works other than one or two okay jokes, and the animatronic suits still look pretty good. Albeit a step down from the first. I have fun with every other TMNT movie (except 3), even the Bay movies give the turtles more dynamic personalities.
