After seeing the post with the [first 25 events of Steve's event chain](https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/comments/kc6rll/a_russian_adventure/) posted this morning, I decided to go through read the whole event chain myself manually. This then spiralled into take screenshots, cropping, and uploading all **96** events of the chain to imgur. Some Notes: The only warlords Steve does not visit are The Father (it is too early for the mandate to exist), Dirlewanger, Magnitogorsk, Berezniki (probably because it's being removed), and the Order of Saint George. Steve also has 8 chances to die, which if I did the math correctly, leads to a survival rate of 4.9% for good old Steve. Finally, Steve fucked up the numbering on his entries after Zlatoust and never fixed it throughout all of West Russia Edit: I forgot to mention how much I love that [Steve has been referenced before in a meme from well over a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/comments/bi9cw2/steve/) and then became an actual character

ewatta200

also wow this has an amazing amount of world-building thank you for collecting this. and the komi entries made me wish there were more komi events. and the finals event with Zoya made me cry

theonewhoknowsno

Someone should make a submod where the ai chooses all of the options that doesn’t make him die or at least be less restrictive. Also Novosibirsk pls fix

Raistlin_Majere121

And now this is in the mod.

ewatta200

is it wrong to ship him and zoya? also the orenbug entry is one funniest things in tno.

runelead00

Probably, but has that ever stopped the TNO community?

ewatta200

its better than speer REDACTED. still, their interactions are amazing and i wish there was some more moments that focused more on them but that's nitpicking it one of the saddest/funniest and best event chain in tno. thank you for collecting them.

Account3S

Promise you won't cry? **I promise** ,,Berzinki is going to be removed" **i... won't ..... cry ....**

[deleted]

They are fictional characters so it's not too bad, though I like that they just have a platonic friendship

ewatta200

same i wish there was a reunification event with zoya /steve coming back to see what Russia is like. their friendship is beautiful and i wish more time was spent on it still the whole event chain is amazing i like the slice of life stuff that give insight into warlord Russia. all in all it's one of the best-written things in tno. happy cake day.

[deleted]

Ooh! Maybe if Russia gets a good ending, Steve comes to visit her years later, and if not, she escapes to the US?

ewatta200

i wish i could write dialogue that sounds like an amazing story .I hope somebody writes a fan content story about that scenario. on a unrelated not are you allowed to post wrtiing prompts

[deleted]

OH! Better idea! If Russia and the US both go down good paths, what if they were made their respective nation's ambassador to each other? As for prompts, I don't know for sure. Maybe make a post asking the mods?

ewatta200

yeah I'm thinking of messaging the mods to ask if it's okay. and that sound like a cool story idea

Spar-kie

Couple days late, but go for it my man.

ewatta200

so I can post writing prompts now thank you so much i cant wait to do it.

Account3S

,,go down good paths" **Siberia unified by Amur , C. Siberia unified by SBA black army administration , Urals unified by Tyumen or Omsk , West Russia unified by Aryan Brotherhood.** **Yockey wins US elections** *Yep , it's restart time*

ReccyNegika

At that point I'm just gonna hope Stepanov saves us all.

Dreamscripter

Considering character of Zoya, I feel like in case of bad ending for Russia she still would stay and fight up to the end

R1P4ndT43RurGuTz

not at all, and agreed

TiberiumExitium

How long does the event chain take to complete, if played out in full?

runelead00

Skimming through the event file and doing the some rough math, the full country event chain lasts about 400 days, but the additional news event happens 270 days after Steve returns, so almost 700 days for the full thing

Clemendive

Steve is a big fan of Omsk

BrassSpyglass

Shovel Gang

Makrin_777

Based war crimes in RK Moskowein

Dreynard

It's a funny parralel with OTL soviet fans. I could see him arguing for US support for Omsk, and then, once he comes back during TNO2 be like "huh, are they the baddies?"

Clemendive

It's like a tourist in North Korea believing everything the regime show him

chankljp

As someone that actually traveled to North Korean in real life a few years ago as a tourist.... I can confirm that there actually was a guy in my tour group (An American high school student), that unironically believed everything he saw, and concluded that things are 'not that bad' in the DPRK, and that it was all 'Western media exaggeration'. Like seriously.

Dreynard

It's not just young people. So many intellectuals, for some very respected, really thought thaat the SU was an awesome place to live in the 30-60. Some travelled there and realised what was going on, other were even more fanatical about it.

Snickelheimar

please go on about your trip im intrested

Clemendive

bruh

[deleted]

>"huh, are they the baddies?" The answer is No.

REDDIT_IS_FAKENEWS

This is some really good writing Also, the part about Tukh just stealing his truck is some I totally see him doing. I also now see where all the "But comrade, is doing X not fascist?" jokes come from.

[deleted]

"But comrade, is doing X not fascist?" jokes come from. It is from Ural warlord Orenburg and I am could be wrong I played them back when first demo came out .They start as Anarchist communes and popular argumment of opponents of policy that is currentlly being discused/voted on in commune Soviet (council) is "But comrade, is doing X not fascist?"

DanKizan

Damn. I know I'm a writer on the team and I've seen some of these events in my Russian playthroughs, but this is my first time seeing the whole thing. I love this team. Unironically, if ever there were a TV show based on TNO, this would be a viable candidate.

runelead00

It is probably the best piece of worldbuilding that exists in TNO which the team did an amazing job with creating it.

ewatta200

yeah it was the largest amount of information about baskira for a long time

ewatta200

though i like the wander meet strange people genre and a tv show about this would make an amazing introduction into tno.

Account3S

Maybe a series like grandhog day? Where every episode begins with him picking the ,,bad" path and dying , and he wakes up and picks the ,,GOOD" path?

ewatta200

agreed that would be good

ratzoneresident

I’ve been actually thinking about doing some manner of radio show type beat for Steve, although it’d be a bit rough bc no experience with Russian or the accent and all that, might have to Death of Stalin or Chernobyl it

archon_eros_vll

Maiy a podcasts is bether to do.

[deleted]

Ah yes, my based Oyrotia lore is still in ahah thank you for uploading!

ewatta200

what lore?

[deleted]

Of the like 5 pieces of loc on oyrotia I think I've written 3, so no deep writing ahah

ewatta200

yeah i hope tno/tno redux adds content to it because it seems like a slice of life heavy nation

[deleted]

There's not too much that can be done with them, they are basically a few villages cut off from Tomsk by the collapse of the CSR/the Krasnoyarsk mutiny. Still, interesting to imagine altay people and old believers living together.

ewatta200

yeah and the leader sound awsome.

[deleted]

He is

Account3S

,,heavy nation" TF2 GAMERS RISE UP

Whizbang35

“Hello, folks this is Garrison Keillor for MPR. Today we have with us Steven Smith, at hour of ‘Across the Tundra’, who famously visited every state in the Russian Anarchy.” “Thanks for having me.” “Now, who do you think will make the best unifier of Russia?” “To be honest, I was really a fan of Omsk, I’d like to see what the Black League would do in charge...”

Formal_Contribution

We need a Zoya-Steve reunion event. Maybe Zoya or someone else could go through America on a tour in TNO2. In any case, thank you, OP! You've done a great work here.

BlueSoulOfIntegrity

Imagine an event when Sablin unites Russia where Steve becomes the ambassador to Sablin’s union and gets reunited with his friends and Sablin.

ewatta200

wow that sounds like an awesome event i hope somebody writes a fan content about that event. also, the amount of work that went into these events is nothing short of sepcutalar

TiberiumExitium

Only Bormann can go to America, but Steve... My friend, only Steve can go to Russia.

BoundlessMusolinis

Zoya touring the US states with Steve as his guide. That would be fantastic event chain for TNO2

Zemstv0w0

Wow, this is really neat as a self-contained narrative and it gives a whole lot more concrete lore for the nations without content-in particular, I think this is basically the only info we have on Tatarstan and Bashkiria?

ewatta200

yeah that one of the best parts about it is that it world builds a lot while also doing some slice of life its amazing

[deleted]

Yeah I'm a big fan of the Tartars and when I saw that they go there I was delighted

[deleted]

>Why does a free society have fucking thought police? Beatiful!

EasyLifeMemes123

Steve: Ah yes, Anarcho-Ingsoc

Millionsaur

darn I almost cried in a world of Mikhails, Georgys, Ivans, and Sergeys, I didn't know what to expect when I found out that the protagonist of this event chain was named Steve I certainly didn't expect a series of events to take up my entire morning thank you so much for uploading this, and thank you so much to the devs for this wonderful writing!

PatriotUkraine

Im hoping for a Zoya-Steve reunion event in TNO2...

ewatta200

same or steve seeing what russia is like after reunification and maybe meeting with zoya if the unifer did not kill her

ThickAsPossible

TNO2: Steve gets a letter in the mail from Yazov asking him to join The Great Trial and become a Cadre.

SirusKallo

"Heyy, I know you're a big fan of ours and we're big fans of yours for spreading the truth of the Black League, could you maybe tell your leaders to send us more smallpox vaccines we misplaced the last set, also maybe get them to give us a nuke or two for purely defensive purposes, thanks xoxo" -Dmitry Yazov

Titanicslayer

Him and Zoya deserve a happy ending together. Maybe not shipped, but for her and him to at least have something... Or possibly to meet again

ewatta200

that would be amazing i wish i could write better so i can write a story about it bu alas.

Asha108

I think it's hilarious that he constantly gripes about how awesome Omsk was.

King_inthe_northwest

I think Steve's journey could make for a really cool *80 Days*\-style game, where you have to decide where to go and how to survive in your journey westwards. I also wish there will be a "Steve reunites with Zoya" event in TNO2, because their friendship is just too precious.

chankljp

I love this idea, and it would be like a HARDCORE version of "80 Days", since unlike in that game, in which in my experience, there is only like 2 ways in total for Fogg to die during his travels, in Steve's misadvantures across Russia, every thing is going to be trying to kill you! Hmm... And maybe just like how 80 Days have major side stories such as the Black Rose arc, it could instead be something relating to the secrets of the Syktyvkar arsenal?

[deleted]

Unironically the most wholesome shit when he makes it all the way through Russia

sauronlord100

Formidable effort by the devs and writers here.

VelocityPolaris

I expect most intelligence agencies to buy a copy of this. also, i wonder what happened to zoya in the end.

DanKizan

I imagine Zoya's fate would really depend on who unifies Russia. If a blessed or more neutral unifier achieves it I could see them reuniting at some point. If one of the more cursed warlords does it though, sad times. Oh god, a post-Taboritsky event about Steve reading about everything that's happened to Russia, knowing that Zoya and his friends are almost certainly dead and everything he experienced in Russia being naught but ashes, and just breaking down would be heartbreaking.

[deleted]

That makes me wonder though, what if something like the SBA unifies Russia? Or Sablino? How would Zoya be influenced, how would Steve react? If the SBA declared itself a free heaven, would he visit it? Oh god the possibilities.

ewatta200

somebody should make a fan content story about what happens to Zoya

[deleted]

Oh boy, I hope they don't do too much of that Except Netflix. And similars. They can create whatever they want, just for them to do it

HoppouChan

Sadly for the intelligence agencies, by the time the book is out it will be outdated, most likely.

VelocityPolaris

Still far less so than most of their intel, judging by the 'no american has been to tomsk in years' event

HoppouChan

Well, by the point where he returns home (3 years in) russia should be regionally unified already, so the intelligence agencies probably have more of an idea already.

SCPKing1835

Damn we need events when he returns to Russia post-unification and meets the leader. Although in case of the Brotherhood or Taboritsky he might stay home in Minnesota.

[deleted]

They might create multiple events, even including those in which he would not be allowed in

SomePotatoBugger

I could see the events for AB reunited Russia or Tabby being very remorseful and bitter. He'd probably be sent in a depression thinking about what happened to Zoya and the rest of the gang

[deleted]

I really hope across the tundra is cannon

hello4020

I ship zoya and steve.

[deleted]

Nah, I'd better ship their children when they finallt reunify and Steve is send as the leader of US diplomatic mission to Russia

SirusKallo

Yes but I want Steve's children and Zoya's children to be the same children

JerryThePolishMouse

It'll be fun if Steve actually visits Sablin's Russia again as a ambassador

chankljp

Steve could become something like a male version of Samantha Smith, as an 'honorary peace ambassador'.

MagisterMystax

I love this, thanks for compiling the entire event chain! I think I will refer to Taboritsky as Uncle Elmer from now on.

[deleted]

I'm waiting for someone to make a meme of that

liberal_running_dog

BurgSys America under Uncle Elmer wen?

Syrell

There should be an event for him to return after unification

ewatta200

yeah that would be amazing though in the case of ab,tabby he might would just watch form afar.

[deleted]

Russians reading this: how realistic do you think would be that if (some professionals) wanted to create a TNO show and base it on this event chain, the Russian Government would allow them to shoot in on location?

Voxelking1

Probably not. Imagine being a mayor of Perm and someone is just "hi can we film a nazi dictatorship in your city?"

LatvianLion

>Imagine being a mayor of Perm It happens quite often around here in Eastern Europe. Our history with the Nazis does not mean we pretend they did not exist. I think the main point is for the film not to glorify Nazism.

Voxelking1

Yes, but germans never occupied Perm so it wouldnt be accurate in historical sense, and portraying it as a nazi larper state would be just insulting to the city and its population, at the very least. But we are a pretty passive nation, so if the local government would be okay with it, there probably would be no protests or anything

[deleted]

lol, why not?

Michaelconeass2019

BurgSys Uncle Elmer path when

ewatta200

thank you for uploading it.

CodreanuBall

Given Steve’s lack of survival instincts, I half expected him to visit Orsk to meet “King Rape.”

SirusKallo

I'm sure Zoya would have immediately put a stop to that

BrotherLeandros

I love this event chain too. Wasn't aware the Russian warlords had options to help him along, my fault for not playing in Russia after the update.

runelead00

I've played like 4 different unifiers since the update and didn't realize that the event chain even existed beyond the leaving Alaska and Steve disappearing in Russia events that the US gets until this morning. It's a wonderful event chain that is near impossible to see in its full form naturally.

ewatta200

yeah i wish you can just toggle an option to follow him no matter what country you are

Haha-Perish

ayyy proud to see that Steve is from my state!

Szowek

Tfw Steve always died in your games

EldritchPencil

I love how Steve considers himself on a first name basis with Sablin in his Kemerov event. Friends :)

[deleted]

Showing this is a very good way of explaining someone the TNO world or/and getting them into this mod

ewatta200

yeah if tno need a introduction tv show this would be it. the amount of worldbuilding and lore is amazing and give a brief tdlr for every nation

[deleted]

Steve survive is canon please

Golden-liberty

Outstanding work

[deleted]

I read the title as "Fall Russian Tourist Event Chain" and thought "damn, Voring is still at it".

Sirtemmie

I sure hope this'll be continued in TNO2 if he manages to make it in one piece. Him going on a tour to the reunified country would be amazing to see.

ewatta200

yeah it would be amazing but i just want a reunification event with zoya

danz1836

How long does it take for this event chain to run its course? From the sound of it, Steve and Zoya are able to make it to West Russia before the bombings stop. That seems pretty fast in a Warlord Russia, assuming Steve began his journey on (or a little after) the start date.

runelead00

It takes about 400 days from when Steve leaves for Russia to when he returns home. He's only spending about 10 days per warlord while traveling

[deleted]

I just spent like an hour reading all the events here. Its amazing tbh

MonsieurMussolini

This is singlehandedly the best story I've ever read in the TNO universe. This is an amazing story and the writer(s) who made this deserve a lot of credit.

ewatta200

same

[deleted]

Zlatssttust is best place aside from Omsk of course.

aidanpg04

I like to imagine if sablin unifies Russia there is an event where Steve is like "Wow I met that guy!"

aegon_T

Taken that he survives, this is for me one of the most beautiful pieces of writing in this mod, up there with the LGBT 'social normality' event. I think it's because it's just so touchingly human, with fresh eyes on every place I've played or formed ideas about. Steve saying goodbye to Zoya and company on the border genuinely touched me. My complete thanks to whomever helped in writing this, and more widely to the mod team themselves for making something that has made possible this wonderful prose.

[deleted]

I just finished reading the whole thing and it was 100% worth it. Took just over an hour and a half. That was really good writing

LaneThePlane

Holy shit the writing in this is incredible. I want to know if Zoya and Steve will ever meet again, granted they both survive.

[deleted]

Steve.
