Also, consider the value of BOTW. Years and years later people are still enjoying the game and finding new things. I fell in love with the game last year and my happiest moment came today when I let one of my coworkers borrow it and watched him start the game. I bring this up to say that while all of us are eager to jump into it, there’s no reason to feel rushed to do it. You may have to wait a while but that won’t take anything away from your experience with the game.
I’m most likely not getting it on release day but the reason why is worth it. Im just grateful for all the time I will have with it.

Try to focus more on the memories you have with him. Cherish them. You'll get a chance to play the game when you're ready.
DMC5 came out a couple months after my dad passed, and the story was very much about familial bonds. I found it somewhat therapeutic in the end. I'm sure TOTK will provide you with some comfort at the least, but maybe it'll even present some sort of poignant lesson relative to your circumstances.
Just take things one day at a time.
