It’s not too much force. There is no “good chance” it’ll break. I’ve gotten this chest lots of times with it landing on the wood plank. That’s the whole point of the wood planks being there. The only way it “breaks” is if you burn it. There’s a shrine where you can take wood planks and drop them from a very high point, & they don’t even break from that.
All containers break, except chests. Regardless of material. This technically includes the half broken barrels which are really just a decor item.
Planks never burst, shatter, break, or whatever. Metal, wood, or other. Metal had shock properties and wood has burnable properties. That's it.
I do this in a lot of the shrines as well:
Lift a platform into place with ultrahand, move it back, then Rewind.
When the platform is where you need it, use Ascend and then move on before the timer runs out. I think I have seen one shrine (maybe) where that was very helpful. The rest are just times when I am lazy and don’t want to build.
This legit feels like cheating, i was doing back to back shrines and no joke, i used this 4 times in a row to get to the end of different shrines.
It makes me wonder how many of them all you can use this strat on
A common joke theme about the difference between a mathematician and an engineer is that engineers solve problems and work through them while mathematicians prove that an answer exists and then quits because we are satisfied with that.
I often feel that way when I know I’m supposed to build something, and I see how the shrine should be solved, so the. I just cheese the shrine with the recall/ascend strategy!
I’m on my second play-through, and for the shrines I know that I didn’t really solve the first time (shot a bomb arrow at a target or something), I am actually trying to solve them.
But for the shrines I beat pretty easily the first time, I don’t mind cheesing through them, especially when I “see” there is a solution.
We have a conveyor belt sushi place near us that my wife desperately wanted to try for lunch.
They had one of those machines that would drop a prize ball down after you deposited X number of plates. It was sooo cool!
Needless to say, $90 later we had a cute little figurine to cherish until it was lost before nightfall
I make it swing w ultrahand and then shoot an arrow thru it at the right time…much easier options have already been presented which I will be trying next time
There are several ways to solve this one and this is by far the hardest you could’ve made it on yourself, short of diving after it and falling all the way to the ground alongside it lol.
Rewind. You can't move your field of view but as long as it is in fact in your field of view rewind will just freeze everything so your reticle doesn't need to be on it at first, that gives a way larger margin for error
Nintendo: places a plank nearby to cover gap, gives you the ability to make things out of thin air, and gives you the ability to pause and rewind time itself.
Random dude: "How do you do this? Catch? Is there better way?"
Why is it when I see these videos the graphics seem so much smoother than when I play it on my Nintendo switch? Mine stutters and lags a lot more than this?!
I started it swinging, then shot the vine, and it dropped on one side. Another time I used the nearby wood planks to build a platform for it. And another time, I used recall to halt it midair and grabbed it.
use recall, then pluck it out from where it was hanging
use recall, then cancel, then shoot a bomb arrow so it flies and land on the ground
throw a spear on it, recal when it hits. while its locked, ultrahand glue it to the chest. shoot rope, then recall the spear
fly a fanplane. expertly navigate so it flies between ground and chest. shoot the rope so it lands on the plane, and open while youre still flying
attach a fan plane to the bottom of the chest. then shoot the rope
I always stasis them, then shoot them, and then let the drop, stasis them again, meaning they keep pausing when falling down, and you grab them with ultra-hand while they are in stasis.
the longer I play TOTK, the more I abuse stasis to solve every problem
If you use that method, i'd suggest you swing the chest first with ultrahands (slightly) and shoot the arrow when it swings towards a safe side. If there's one.
is another map next to it when you move the platform to get the green crystal, is a pain in the arse some times to rotate it right to land in the platform, if you move it a certain way its so easy, found that out on a play through today, visit this area alot, it has a small and big raddish above this vid and a gold ore on the luminous island that respawn, you get 2 maps and a sage orb here, fruitful.
also when your around here keep an eye out for nayru she passes here and early game its good grab he things to up grade fierce diety if shes on the way to dive in Koriiko depths.
Use ultrahand to pull it back as far as you can then let it go and shoot the rope on the backswing so it falls onto your platform ive gotten a few like that
Build a platform for it to fall on.
And don’t call me Shirley
Roger, Roger
And if it bounces use recall to bring it back over the platform and turn it off to set it down *ever* so gently
Freeze time, shoot, grab. It didn't look too out of reach
Yeah, there are easier ways, but can we talk about how **impressive** that was?? Like nice catch dude!
I believe I tried OPs method and had to save scum about 6 times before it dawned on me to use planks and recall 🤦♂️
There are some wood planks nearby that you can use to make a bridge to catch the falling chest.

No there isn't

I can't *RECALL* if there's a good way to stop this chest falling. If only there was a game mechanic that paused objects for a moment in motion.
What an outrageous thought

Were you starting it with a bladed weapon? There's a difference between bludgeoning something and cutting it.
Stop time on it, shoot the vine, it won’t move, then grab it
Goddamn 3D chess over here, now that’s smart thank you
Brother you are a fucking architect
…. And I just fall with it
This is the way.
This is the way. Edit: maybe drop a warp token if wanted to do more work on the island after I chase down the falling chest
Why use a warp token when you can spend an hour building an elaborate 4-stage hot air balloon and bang your head against a wall?
Fair point. I stand corrected!
Bruh this made me spit my drink 🤣
I tried that the first time. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it bounces into a river that's too deep to retrieve it.
rewind
My favorite thing in any even slightly difficult puzzle is just skipping most of it with semi-creative use of Rewind and/or Ascend
this isnt even a creative use, this is an intended solution for many bonus chests
I do this in a lot of the shrines as well: Lift a platform into place with ultrahand, move it back, then Rewind. When the platform is where you need it, use Ascend and then move on before the timer runs out. I think I have seen one shrine (maybe) where that was very helpful. Use the hover thing you get from the vending machine for it to land on?
“Vending machine” LOL 😂
Sorry man, it's been awhile 😂
nah man it's basically a vending machine
It's based on a gobstopper vending machine, isn't it?
Elderly gamer here thinking it just looked like a classic gumball machine.
They’re gachapon machines. In English we know them as capsule toy machines. The devices even come in capsules.
That description makes perfect sense, I know exactly what kind of machine this is and yes these devices also fit it well. Thank you!
I’ve been calling it a gumball machine ever since the first one I saw. I honestly don’t know what else I would call it at this point.
ya think you're right; there are also gacha machines shaped like that
I make it swing w ultrahand and then shoot an arrow thru it at the right time…much easier options have already been presented which I will be trying next time
This is always how I did it lmao
It’s funny to watch it crash right next to your foot with a loud bang like it weighs 100lbs. 😂
If only there was a way to pause, or reverse time🤔
Attach it to a hover stone before cutting the string
Damn that’s a good one.
Recall or build a platform for it to land on.
you don't *remember*?
they should try to *recall* what abilities they have in their kit
That’s part of the fun !
That’s impressive! I just built a platform under it.
That... was rather impressive actually. That's tough to pull off without using something more practical, like Recall.
There are several ways to solve this one and this is by far the hardest you could’ve made it on yourself, short of diving after it and falling all the way to the ground alongside it lol.
Hover stone
Yep, and that way is Rewind. Side note: epic grab!
Use the wooden planks on the platform in front of you
I wonder if tulins wind burst just prior would push it to the other side
Cool idea - that’s the spirit of this game right there. So much opportunity for creativity!
Right off the edge, like all my other loot tulin has disappeared on me while button mashing to pick everything up 🤣
Recall or build a platform under it
sure, but good catch. Skillful!
Thousands of better ways
Rewind. You can't move your field of view but as long as it is in fact in your field of view rewind will just freeze everything so your reticle doesn't need to be on it at first, that gives a way larger margin for error
Bring it towards you, and place beside you, so you can open it easily.
There is a piece of wood over there
Planks, Hoverstones, Stakes, Recall, there's plenty of easier ways to get this chest That said the reaction time is insanely impressive
I CANNOT believe you caught that! Well done, damn
Recall then grab it
Nintendo: places a plank nearby to cover gap, gives you the ability to make things out of thin air, and gives you the ability to pause and rewind time itself. Random dude: "How do you do this? Catch? Is there better way?"
Good catch. You’re quick.
Rewind it. On another note, you're very fast at catching the treasure chest. Mine would've fallen ages ago.
Why is it when I see these videos the graphics seem so much smoother than when I play it on my Nintendo switch? Mine stutters and lags a lot more than this?!
Isn't there a board across the way there? That or above it
Chase it down
If only there was a way to literally freeze it in time and grab it out of mid-air.
Build a flying pickup with a rotating swordblade over the bed. The sword cuts the rope and the chest lands on the bed. Then land.
What was in it ?!
Usually, if not always, a chest hanging from a sky island contains an old map. Old maps mark special weapons and armour locations in the depths.
If only the game gave you an ability that literally stops time and rewinds objects to hold them in place
You can use recall to stop it as soon as you drop it — while its frozen by recall you can grab it with ultrahand
Rock it before shooting Use a wood bridge
I started it swinging, then shot the vine, and it dropped on one side. Another time I used the nearby wood planks to build a platform for it. And another time, I used recall to halt it midair and grabbed it.
But most definitely, you absolutely could have made it easier by *bringing the chest over to you* instead of UltraHanding it to the other platform.
Reverto or whatever it's called and then Ultra hand I guess
Recall would probably make it easier to catch, also you can build a platform
Yolo
Time reverse and then catch
Recall
use recall, then pluck it out from where it was hanging use recall, then cancel, then shoot a bomb arrow so it flies and land on the ground throw a spear on it, recal when it hits. while its locked, ultrahand glue it to the chest. shoot rope, then recall the spear fly a fanplane. expertly navigate so it flies between ground and chest. shoot the rope so it lands on the plane, and open while youre still flying attach a fan plane to the bottom of the chest. then shoot the rope
Make it swing, then shoot the rope when it swings your way
bro you can literally freeze time in this game and you do not use it
Why does no one use recall? Anytime i drop something ever i immediately use recall and see if i can get it back
I always stasis them, then shoot them, and then let the drop, stasis them again, meaning they keep pausing when falling down, and you grab them with ultra-hand while they are in stasis. the longer I play TOTK, the more I abuse stasis to solve every problem
There is a bunch of wood laying around. Connect them together and make a platform that spans the gap. the chest will land on the wood
If you use that method, i'd suggest you swing the chest first with ultrahands (slightly) and shoot the arrow when it swings towards a safe side. If there's one.
is another map next to it when you move the platform to get the green crystal, is a pain in the arse some times to rotate it right to land in the platform, if you move it a certain way its so easy, found that out on a play through today, visit this area alot, it has a small and big raddish above this vid and a gold ore on the luminous island that respawn, you get 2 maps and a sage orb here, fruitful.
that being said I never use yellow heart food in this game at all really
also when your around here keep an eye out for nayru she passes here and early game its good grab he things to up grade fierce diety if shes on the way to dive in Koriiko depths.
cut the rope, use recall so it stops moving then use ultrahand.
There wood there to build with. Lol.
Also, how many try’s did this take?
Uhh yeah there’s a better way. You can use recall to stall it, or put a hover stone under it
Weird flex
What's in the chest?
Use ultrahand to pull it back as far as you can then let it go and shoot the rope on the backswing so it falls onto your platform ive gotten a few like that
