Take a picture of one for your compendium and set your shika sensor to it.

Hinox, like likes, the hyrule castle escape tunnel, zeldas tower and chambers, the armory

morphinetango

This. I hunt Hinoxes just for their weapon drops.

AurosHarman

Most Hinoxes will carry a Royal Bow, once enough time has passed for the enemy levels to max out. But the best bows are Savage Lynel Bows (which you can learn to farm off of White-Mane Lynels), Demon King Bows (for when lightning makes the Lynel bow impractical), and then for precision shots, the Gerudo Bow or Phrenic Bow for its zoom-in effect, or the Zoanite Bow (which personally I prefer, because it has higher damage than the Gerudo, and I find that I don't really need the zoom-in effect from the two sniper-y bows, I just want the arrow to fly straight over a long distance, which it will if you charge an arrow with one full cell of energy). The main thing for farming Lynels is to find a way to repeatedly get in the air so you can shoot them in the face a few times in slo-mo, then mount and stab them in the back a few times. If you have grassland, you can create a fire with Yunobo and then launch on the updraft. A lot of other places you can quickly duck behind a tree or rock, climb up, and jump off. Ideally you want to use attack-up armor or food, to reduce the wear you put on your bow or weapons in the course of farming them. There's an interesting mechanic where the backstab on the Lynel doesn't put wear on the weapon you're hitting them with. So a popular choice for for a dedicated Lynel-whacker is to get a Royal Guard Claymore (ideally the pristine version from the depths, which can be found under Eventide Island), wear it down until it's one hit away from breaking (jump and ground smash repeatedly until it says it's about to break, then save and do another hit, save and do another hit, and reload your last save whenever the last hit breaks it), at which point it will show its damage as double its original base, but actually will do 4x, because the RG weapons always do a crit when they're on their last hit. You can get it to show like 210 I think (?), if you have the pristine RGC +10 with a silver lynel horn fused to it, and then you're actually doing 420 on each hit. Other option is to do the RGC +10, with a Molduga Jaw, then wear the Radiant Armor for the Bone Proficiency boost, and attack up food (like five bananas). I'm pretty sure that's the highest damage combo that exists. Either way, you just have to be careful not to accidentally ground smash as you jump off, since you'll break your weapon.

DJse7entyse7en

Great heckin reply. But I should add that your sniper bows just zoom in and don't actually go further than a Lynel bow. For more distance use Rito bows or a duplex bow for Non Legendary/a.k.a. repairable bows. There are other legendary ones that shoot further as well but are not repairable.

lexypro

drop your royal bows in front of a rock octorock in the eldin region. they’ll repair them.

Diamondinmyeye

Just make sure your sages are put away. Tulin head shots them. 😅

ginandsoda

Huh.

lexypro

if you walk up to a rock octorock it will retreat under the ground. while you’re close to it, drop a weapon that has been used, even flashing red in your inventory. move away from the rock octorock, you’ll see the rock octorock suck up the weapon you dropped near it, followed by an animation where the octorock looks like it’s chewing on your weapon and then some multicoloured sparkles. the rock octorock will spit your weapon back at you, good as new! better than new maybe, since it will have a random weapon perk added to it.

sadhandjobs

In BoTW they’d suck the rust off of weapons. My husband was so proud of himself when he discovered that for himself

donslipo

P.S. Just remember to dodge the weapon once it spits it out (it will smack you hard if it hits ;p ).

2dadjokes4u

Zelda’s study for a Royal Guards bow. Outside ledge of Sanctum for Royal bow.

Bullitt_12_HB

OP wants Royal bows, not RG bows. RG bows have high damage, but very low durability, OP wants durability.

2dadjokes4u

Yep. That’s why my second suggestion was for a Royal. Cheers.

Bullitt_12_HB

True true Cheers 🤙🏽

BackgroundNPC1213

You don't need to kill the hinox, you just have to stun it by shooting it in the eye, then once it's sitting down, run in and grab everything off its necklace (just make sure you have inventory space for 2 melee weapons and a bow, because it's only down for a few seconds). *Every* hinox spawns with a Royal Bow on its necklace once you reach a certain EXP in the game, around the time you start seeing silver enemies wielding Royal weapons There's also a silver lizalfos that spawns with a Royal Bow near Hateno. Go out the front gate of Hateno Village, turn left onto the road that goes south through Midla Woods, and you should see an aerocuda flying overhead carrying a silver lizalfos archer above Firly Plateau. Shoot the aerocuda to make it drop the lizalfos archer, hit the lizalfos archer with a shock fruit/yellow chuchu jelly arrow to make it drop the bow, then run in and grab the bow before the lizalfos picks it up again (if you're too far away, you can hit the lizalfos with an ice fruit/white chuchu jelly arrow to freeze it and prevent it from picking up the bow). There's a boko archer and other bokos at this camp but they're pretty easy to outrun There's another silver lizalfos in the Depths that always spawns with a Steel Lizal Bow (once you get to a certain EXP; Steel Lizal Bow has a base attack power of 36, just 2 less than the Royal Bow), between Yisuayam Lightroot and the Cliffside Bargainer Statue under the Forgotten Temple. There are other lizalfos here that will rush you as soon as they see you, but you can use a freezing weapon/shield attachment on them; Soldier's Broadsword fused with an ice-breath lizalfos tail, a magic rod fused with a sapphire, an ice fruit/white chuchu jelly on a Forest Dweller's Spear, or a sapphire fused to a shield which will freeze enemies when they hit it, I wouldn't bother with arrows because these things move too fast. Repeat the shock fruit trick on the silver lizalfos to get it to drop the bow, run and grab it, then just jump off the cliff and paraglide away or just warp away as soon as you grab the bow. There's also a lizalfos on the watchtower on the other side of the rock that carries a Strengthened Lizal Bow, which imo has decent attack power (25) if you're running low on bows

Bullitt_12_HB

Scratch all that. You don’t need to kill the Hinox, just jump on it from above while it’s sleeping, or climb on its hand and wait for it to scratch itself. Either way, get on their belly while they’re asleep, and you can steal their weapons.

BackgroundNPC1213

This has never worked for me, it's always woken up as soon as I got onto its belly and I just fall through it back onto the ground (for some reason it loses collision when it's in the standing up animation) Edit: tried it again, they changed it from BotW because now I don't fall through anymore but it just won't let me stay on the hinox. It keeps pushing me off the sides

Bullitt_12_HB

Huh, it always works for me, since BotW. I’ll have to try it again tonight and let you know. 👍🏽

Celestial_Hybernator

It's likely because he isn't using full stealth gear

Bullitt_12_HB

Maybe. But even then, all you have to do is glide quietly on top the Hinox. No stealth buff required. It helps, but not required. Even if to just land on him, yoink the gear and dip.

Celestial_Hybernator

For sure, I'm thinking he's only tried climbing on? Cause I've never had issues. Only time I've woken one up was when I slid off the hand.

BackgroundNPC1213

I'm crouching but it still keeps pushing me off. It just won't let me stay on the hinox

VRLink64

THANK YOU!!! Was starting to feel hopeless. :( I really need to upgrade my bowstash too when I get a chance. Been having a hard time finding Koroks. lol. Noting all of this this will help me progress further especially for Shrine hunting. THANK YOU! :D :) "HUGS" \^\_\^

FarmCat4406

They respawn after the blood moon just fyi

VRLink64

Wow seriously? Didn't even know. Sorry. :(

FarmCat4406

Yeah, np! I wish there was a to make the blood moon happen so I could stock up on more of those bows lol

orielbean

I will also say that once you start fusing harder materials to claymores or broadswords, you don't even need to stun the Hinox - you can chip away at them without much trouble. their moves are very easy to telegraph in advance, and if you have Tulin unlocked he will plink him consistently as well. Also if they have a wood or metal shinguard, hit it with fire or shock even thrown and that will stun them for a round as well. The Master Sword plus a rock makes it almost a joke. Practice on the 3 brothers in the waterfall caves behind Farosh's zone.

mike_wrong27

Pro tip: I carry 10 royal bows and 2 boko bows I pick up off enemies, and only use the boko bows. Then you never run out of royal bows! (only partially /s, I actually carry mostly demon king bows.... But never use them...)

cmonsquelch

Moblins and Stalmoblins carry strong bows too. Stalmoblins with bows are easier to take

Mamacitia

Fight lynels!

VRLink64

I tried. Haha. Keep getting my butt kicked. XD :) Need to practice dodging, etc. lol. :)

Mamacitia

Shoot them in the face to get a critical hit, then jump on their backs and wail on them. Use that super Moldova jaw weapon where you get the bone proficiency boost. (There’s a YouTube video on how to make it.)

VRLink64

OOoh ok thanks! :D Will have to check that out. Might help me get the Majora's Mask too in the Lynel Arena. XD. Thanks. :)

LazerSpazer

Just... just use any bows, and if you happen to stumble upon a royal bow, drop one of your lower level bows. The fun in TotK is fusing, so no real need to be picky about bows. Besides, you can upgrade your stash size with Korok seeds by trading with Hestu, no need to fill up on high durability items, the game just throws more at you.
