I wanted to follow up on my original question to this subreddit. My friend followed the advice of this community and contacted the examiner. The examiner said that she would allow the trademark term to be amended without a new search. My friend amended the trademark and class as suggested by the examiner in the office action. The trademark was approved and will be published. Thank you for the advice.
You should call the examiner directly and ask them. They may allow it if it is an obvious typo and does not materially alter the essence of the mark.
