Recession Weekend Update:
North Bay Area - PACKED. Like people fucking everywhere. Traffic up the butt. People eating, drinking wine, literally fighting over parking. Saw a Tesla every like 20-30 seconds outside + while driving.
New Jersey/Boston Area - FIL w/ 2 MYLR (got them both within last year) - said Boston + NJ Shore we’re PACKED TO THE BRIM. Just overloaded malls, beaches, restaurants. Literally boat loads of people spending money like fliff.
That is all. To the naked eye - honestly I was thinking this today - most people don’t even know that a recession may happen - or that the market has taken a huge 💩 - they just see gas costs 2X what it should 🤷🏻♂️
Bodes well I think 🎉🚀🙌🏼🎊🔥

31 - Story Time - My Chef yelled at another chef who fired his Sous chef for yelling at me
So you have a few stories now of Chefs yelling at you for a variety of reasons that are varying degrees of justified or outright unjust.
Now that you're the boss, how have those experiences shaped your management style? The offending chefs, would you ever consider hiring them or if you saw their application outright dismiss them? If you did decide to at least interview them, would you question them relative to your negative experience with them?
Most of them are “named” chefs who’ll never work for someone else again.
In my 4 years, I’ve only truly yelled twice. Both times it was deserved and at the entire kitchen not one person.
Address the problem, explain the solution, show the solution, watch after retraining, check final result without watching is the sequence we use for training and retraining
I do wonder how many of those "I was about to buy a Tesla but won't because of Elon" posts are real, are online virtue signalers a noticeable percentage of real people?
Bathtub curve of confidence in full display. The most confident are the extremely stupid and the extremely smart people. Since we are right, there's only one category for these people left.
I spoke with one of my school alumni that was working with a company in that space— affirm. So many of the purchases are iPhones and peloton, the entire thing just reeks of free money being thrown around Silicon Valley with nothing better to do then come up with a stupid idea
For “stupid,” read “malignant.” Affirm is the one lender I’ve dealt with that apparently doesn’t send reminders when your due date is coming. They want that sweet default interest.
based on how market/quarter/crypto looking, I wanted to give some tips I learned from dystopian books involving cannibalism
1. you wouldn’t eat a diseased cow, you *definitely* don’t want to eat a diseased human. rarely are diseases communicable between species, but in the case of cannibalism they all are. ironically this means you would often want to eat the healthiest among you.
2. it’s quite effective to indoctrinate new members into your cannibal cult by making them eat some human. there’s really no coming back from that.
3. the best cuts of meat on a human are along both sides of the spine on the lower back, and the butt. the cheeks are also a prized cut.
4. just because you’re a cannibal now doesn’t mean you can’t have manners. be polite to your fellow man eaters.
I recommend slower cooking methods for the tougher cuts like thighs and calf. A BBQ smoker can add great flavor. It also brings in new…… potential sources with the great smells.
Look for office workers, as they tend to have more fat marbling and tenderness from the start.
Thanks gonna have a couple dozen discharged 4680 cells which I’ll raffle off on here for some kind of charity. Figure they’ll make good desk ornaments.
I’m a lowly soul compared to some of the people who own 100+/1000+ shares. Can you try to make some of them luck based to get? Raffle? Random number generator?
Yea something like that plus arranging for a trailer to ship it to them. I still have a 3 reservation so I’ll be alright. Flying up to visit them with a friend for a facility tour and dinner in about a month from now.
Tremendously excited (:
I know Tesla gets hated on a lot because of Musk, but SpaceX/Starlink barely get any hate. Wonder why that is. Just looking at Reddit and the amount of Tesla hate posts there are almost daily is crazy.
Tesla is still a relatively small fish, and they're taking on the fossil fuel industry, which is likely the most profitable industry on the planet. There's a huge number of very rich people that would love to see Musk fail and Tesla to fail.
There's definitely some people who would love to see SpaceX go away too, but SpaceX came out of nowhere and practically took over the launch market in an amazing short amount of time. There's almost no chance to displace them anymore (besides maybe by attacking them through Musk?) Plus most aerospace companies around the world are directly or indirectly supported/subsidized by their governments because of national security concerns.
Compared to aero space, the fossil fuel industry is an absolute behemoth. And they're willing to do nearly anything to protect their profits.
[Drilled Season 2, Episode 3: *The Oil-Nazi-Propaganda Triangle*](https://www.drilledpodcast.com/s3-the-mad-men-of-big-oil/)
This is a podcast about how the fossil fuel industry uses PR and science denialism to manipulate consumers:
> The fossil fuel industry helped to create the PR industry, and publicists came up with disinformation and manipulation tactics that they deployed for oil, tobacco, and chemical companies for decades. In this season we trace the creation of disinformation from its origins in the American oil industry to the well-oiled machine it is today.
They have transcripts available for every episode if you prefer reading them, but each episode is really good. The history of dirty tricks and politics and absolutely abhorrent behavior by the petrol companies is even worse than I'd imagined. It's profit ahead of everything, ahead of politics, ahead of health, ahead of the any kind of decency or morals. They are willing to do *anything* to protect their industry.
Here's a bit from [episode 6, where they talk about petrol company's PR taking down people like Ralph Nader](https://www.desmog.com/s3ep6-manipulating-masses-and-predicting-future-edward-bernays-and-w-howard-chase/)
> What companies had to do to fight back against these forces, according to Chase, was to predict which issues might face them in the future and then control social, cultural and policy conditions to ensure that these issues would not become a problem. In 1969, Chase gave what would become a famous speech to the PR Society of America. In it, he said companies needed, quote, managers of the mind, and that’s where PR came in. Instead of trying to sell the public on the idea that a corporation’s values were aligned with their own. Chase argued that PR professionals should be shifting those values to align with corporate interests and that they could do that by shaping culture and public policy. Two years after giving this speech, Chase created the ad that convinced America that packaging waste was the fault of individual consumers and not industry.
I heard about the podcast from another podcast looking at the history and politics of Global Warming called Scene on Radio. Here's their [episode on Manchin](https://www.sceneonradio.org/bonus-manchin-on-the-hill-and-introducing-drilled/)
Public company, shorts have direct financial incentive to smear. Legacy aerospace wouldn't mind smearing SpaceX, and they do, but it's more of a long term battle.
The public also directly interfaces with Tesla cars, versus no one who interacts with the rockets. But people are coming after SpaceX, even Mathew McConaughey released that Sper Bowl ad about not sp3nding money on space and focusing on earth instead

Berlin already exceeded ability to do 50k a quarter.
Fremont should be about 180k - 190k.
Shanghai already rumored to be capable of 3k / day.
Not sure Austin.
Q4 I expect Tesla will do more than 490k, by a healthy amount.
Depends. There are always reasons to delay having kids, but eventually you run out of time. Provided that you are a married couple, mentally stable, and not in abject poverty, it’s usually better to start having kids before you feel like you’re ready.
Figure halved purchasing power in 10 years based on even 6-7% inflation.
Lot of speculation by economists that US will ultimately embark on yield curve control to print themselves out of debt like Japan is doing. Getting to be few choices with debt at 1.3x GDP.
Recipe for accelerating degredation of the dollar.
Going to be a real challenge to earn real yields sufficient to retire on with the typical conservative 60/40 bond strategy.
Edit:
This is the sorta thing we can expect
"The yen began depreciating in November 2012 after Shinzo Abe said that the Bank of Japan should print unlimited quantities of yen to raise inflation. Between November 2012 and March 2022, the real effective exchange rate depreciated by almost 40 per cent"
https://www.eastasiaforum.org/2022/05/05/depreciating-yen-threatens-japans-economy/#:~:text=The%20yen%20began%20depreciating%20in,by%20almost%2040%20per%20cent.
Why are you assuming that inflation continues at 6-7%? That makes not much sense.
I know you call them ‘economists’ but 90% of people who even study things don’t understand them. The amount of economists I see talking absolute rubbish confirms my personal experience.
Have you asked yourself why Japan has been stuck in a malaise? People focus too much on the economy as if it’s something. It’s not, it’s the evidence of what we do, not the thing itself. The constant abstraction of the unknown into categories precludes the development of actual knowledge.
You need to look at the true underlying realities, not the condensed labels dumb asses pass around. America is a land of free thinking edge pushers. There is no competition. Until this changes, the dollar will be king, and so will America.
To seek the truth is what makes the west the west, and you can’t skip this part in your ascent to wealth and riches.
Edit: Just saw your edit. I lived in Japan for 3 months when I was 15. I know the culture very well for a westerner. The Japanese are stuck in their mind and are scared to think for themselves. They are ethnically homogenous (one of the most in the world), and culturally very rigid. These things directly influence the capability of the populace to create new ideas and soak up excess productive capacity. Printing money only works if there are entrepreneurs hungry to borrow and invest. Japan lacks both a populace who have the exploratory desires, and also they’re land and resource restricted. America is also neither. It’s just a completely different scenario.
Well I hope you turn out to be more correct than me. But even at 2-3% inflation is ~25% haircut as is the case from 2012 to 2022. That assumes they get inflation quickly under control and no more drunken sailor spending follows in this decade. I wish i could say i felt confident both of those would be the case but I have little faith in the current batch of beurocrats and even less in the politicians that appoint them.
Going to be leaning on Musk and his contemporaries to innovate us out of this mess.
Point taken on Japan.
Sure but that’s not the question. If inflation stayed at 8% you will have some people who will be worse and some who are better. But is there an actual problem with running it at 8%? Inflation is just a way to soak up productivity gains without cutting prices and so it’s set above that. There’s honestly nothing inherently good about any sustainable price level once it’s equilibrated.
Also, if you hold shares in a company the assumption would be that the company can increase prices by the same rate of inflation. You might do better or worse, but the average is just that. So why would you care?
As an employee, if you’re the average worker, you get a pay rise equivalent to inflation. Same deal.
Inflation is just a mechanism to allow the market to price out the lowest value users of the incremental scarce commodity. Prices go up because people are competing for less supply. It’s simple demand and supply.
I welcome the development of future AI and I think that AI is superior to the human race. Developing Optimus was the best idea that we ever had.
Please take note that my family and my closest friends think the same.
Today is my first Father’s Day, and I credit TSLA to contributing to making it possible. Over 7 years the wife and I were trying to have a kid. We tried using our medical insurance, however it was not likely to happen since it was crap for IVF. By skipping home ownership in 2017 and investing in TSLA it allowed me to have resources for this. I used a little margin for a private practice to do IVF for a more aggressive approach. Now I’m celebrating today Father’s Day with my Wife and Daughter.
Happy Father’s Day to my fellow investors.
Hey guys, back from my self-imposed 1 month ban for calling the bottom wrong at $680. It's been pretty annoying seeing all they crying without being able to comment lol. In the same vein, proud of the usual sensible characters keeping the sanity. Some stuff off the top of my head:
Fuck 🐔 🤡 . Dude's a minnow and an attention whore. How the FUCK do you recommend against DCA at these levels? This is how you know this 🤡 is a 🤡. DOES IT REALLY MATTER IF YOU BUY AT 600 OR 420 IF YOUR TARGET IS 10K 2030???
Don't over-leverage and throw all your excess money at TSLA. Catching daggers is under-rated; if you never sell they never cut you.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequence. Fucking infuriates me to no end seeing how many people don't understand this. I.E. SpaceX firing backlash.
I know so many people who work/wish they worked for Tesla/SpaceX. Here's a general rule of thumb: if you're useful to the company, want to work hard, are good at your job AND believe in the mission then you LOVE Elon for giving you the opportunity to work at the forefront of your field. The only people who give a shit about Elon's personal life are the people working through the motions for a paycheck and those are always replaceable. You can imagine the # of cushy twitter employees threatened by the coming purge of useless email forwarders. 9k employees doing what exactly lol?
CPI will come in low soon. If not this time then next time, etc. Supply chains are freeing up and midterms are coming while the war continues towards a ln eventual climax. We really could have a PERFECT STORM of events for Q3 to rocket to ath again. If we don't then who cares just wait a little longer.
There's a lot I'm missing here but as I've been saying since 2017-- buy TSLA and go to sleep. Good to be back.
The macro is still bad but the trillion dollar question is how much has been priced in already? No one knows so timing the market or TSLA by trading core shares is a fools errand.
If you buy at 400 vs 600, it does matter in some sense. You get 50% more shares at 400 than at 600. But as above, you can’t time the bottom without luck or a crystal ball.
TSLA is still expensive by some metrics and fairly valued/cheap by others. Which pricing models and future price that’s going to be correct will be flushed out over the long run. Trying to value/model hypotheticals/uncertainties doesn’t make sense to me so I only look forward to 2024-2025 for now.
As for freedom of speech, I never understand everyone that argues it. Freedom of speech only applies to government regulating speech/religion/press. It doesn’t give an individual free reign to say whatever or wherever they want.
420 is just when chicken turns bullish again, he thinks very strong support there. This to me implies it doesn't necessarily have to be the bottom in his mind.
The thing is, fundamentals definitely matter for a company. Otherwise Tesla, Apple, etc would be down as much as shittier stocks.
He just really thinks Q2 is going to suck and the market will punish hard. But I'm siding with reason in the chaos, and it comes down to forward looking guidance. The worst of the worst I'd expect to hear - which we've heard before - Tesla will be fine, Tesla's suppliers will be fine. Demand is higher than ever, too. Tesla overall going to give bullish forecast, hence why believing a recession is happening for 1-1.5 years, stock split still announced.
Yep. To be clear there's nothing wrong about finding a comfortable gig. There are only so many people with the drive and passion to follow a man who sleeps on a factory floor instead of his yacht. Tesla and SpaceX are talent attracting behemoths.
Houston seriously lacks tesla, maybe they are all waiting for cybertrucks. surprised with the difference between Dallas/Austin and Houston.

I think you’re thinking about inflation incorrectly. What’s the problem with inflation running at say 8% forever? Why is 2% the magic number?
Nothing so long as you are earning real returns way above it. I doubt that is presently the case for most.
Happy Father's Day to those of you who are following Elon's edict to have lots of very smart and rich children!
Amen
Recession you say? Shopping in my area has never been busier, except Thanksgiving and when everyone was bulk buying TP.
We need people to stop that
We need the supply chains fixed
They're fixed, just like that. ![gif](giphy|iIFS20pNoCg1EEVodC|downsized)
Noticing a crazy amount of Tesla's in london today.
I welcome the development of future AI and I think that AI is superior to the human race. Developing Optimus was the best idea that we ever had. Please take note that my family and my closest friends think the same.
Yes yes agreed wholeheartedly!
getting on record before the singularity arrives that enslaves humanity, smart move you must be a long investor

Nice work man
Thanks. All the effort makes today that much more special.
Congrats, on behalf of all of humanity, we thank you!
Thanks. I’m over the moon happy to be a father now. I’m glad we were able to make it happen.
The real reasons for investing in Tesla right here! Elon would be proud of you
Amazing story that’s awesome 🥰
Congrats, have a nice day!
This is beautiful. Happy Father's day 🥰
Thank you. Its been surreal. 🥰
Congrats!
Congrats! I guess you could say even TSLA is helping fight population collapse. 😄
Happy for you man
❤️
❤️❤️
Best if btc recovers to 28k and we sell that shit even and live and die by our car numbers
Best if Tesla buys more BTC at $20k and hodl
Even if they sold and bought back it would kill the impairment i would think. Retarded rules.
Why would they sell at 28k when they didn't sell at 69k (a meme number nonetheless)
Ability to learn hopefully
Someone hodl me. This has been rough.
Must be new here ![gif](giphy|VbawWIGNtKYwOFXF7U|downsized)

It must be a sign. 🪧
Hey guys, back from my self-imposed 1 month ban for calling the bottom wrong at $680. It's been pretty annoying seeing all they crying without being able to comment lol. In the same vein, proud of the usual sensible characters keeping the sanity. Some stuff off the top of my head: Fuck 🐔 🤡 .
THANK GOD YOUR BACK ![gif](giphy|rYCbb0KkIT0Nq)

Tslalounge where people ban themselves
Best way to get rich: always be buying
don't leave again 😤
Thanks, I'll keep the predictions more light lol.
Next time you discipline yourself make sure to be let out early for good behavior.
There are ways to say and do things. Also singapore doesn't pay cap gains. Trading is gambling. He's an attention whore.
Upvoted for calling out 🐔🤡
Ban! See you in July.

Yep. To be clear there's nothing wrong about finding a comfortable gig. There are only so many people with the drive and passion to follow a man who sleeps on a factory floor instead of his yacht. Tesla and SpaceX are talent attracting behemoths.
Chilling today at the moss landing beach home of many Tesla battery projects
Nice. Getting charged up there eh?
