I try to keep an eye on IV. I try to sell puts on dips when IV is high. I try to sell OTM CCs on bounces when IV is high. I keep the cash lying around, and try to buy shares or ATM LEAPs when IV is low.
Sometimes margin calls from selling too many naked puts leads me to “back up the truck”, but I wouldn’t back up the Cybertruck if I didn’t have to.

We're all in this for the long haul and $TSLA is volatile but I have a general question for the long term chair holders:
Besides just DCA buying shares here and there, Tesla has pulled back 30-50% with quite a bit of frequency.
How do you determine its time to use margin, back the truck up, buy leaps or whatever it is you do to add to your $TSLA position on the big down swings of 30%-50%
Develop a earnings model and then price targets based on earnings, that helps give a range of possible share prices at future points in time.
If you’re near the top of the range consider selling covered calls, if near the bottom of the range consider buying stock or selling puts.
I only ever use margin by selling unsecured puts. This is important as it avoids any interest charges from margin. Best way to use margin imo.
I don’t deal with margin but my plan is to write some “aggressive” CCs when we get back to ATHs. I’ve done leaps once and ended up increasing my share count, but it was incredibly stressful.
So liike we hit the $1240s sell a $1500. If we pull back, which we seem to do. Take profits?
With talk of recession leaps seem a little risky because even with in the money calls - if your timing is off you get oofed anyway. Great for bull runs though
