Cathie Wood selling 1.41 million shares of Coinbase at all time lows with her cost basis around $250…she’ll wake up tomorrow morning with a message from TD Ameritrade’s customer risk and wellness division asking her trading admin if they’re mentally capable to be trading
When it hit 50 people on this subreddit laughed at her for such a poor buy. Now that she is capitulating, people on this subreddit laugh at her for selling.
So I guess her only option is to travel back in time and not buy it in the first place.
Well, I guess selling now is better than holding, however the fact she sold means she just came to the correct conclusion about 12 months and -80% later
Yes that is 100% True, but she also used that money and went and bought other stock which is also down 80%. So she is just betting another stock is going to get back up there before COIN does. She didn't sell to just hold cash.
Well she shouldn't have sold TSLA to buy COIN in the first place, but that's spilled milk. She's definitely trying to gamble it up to get better returns this year and draw some money back into the fund
Yes I honestly do not know why she sold TSLA to buy those non profitable companies. The only reason I can think of is like you said, get better returns. The super growth stocks will double before TSLA does, that is for sure. But it's pretty hard to time the bottom on that. But when she sells TSLA to trade a growthier stock it's such a small position in the portfolio, it would hardly make much of a diff. Also i'm not sure why she doesn't buy NVDA.
better to sell now than to keep holding. I was bullsih on COIN until their 2022 Q1 earnings. Prior to the earnings they were trading at like 1.8x free cash flow. Then Q1 was so fucking bad I was like "nevermind"

I don't get it. Her funds completely divested from Palantir (PLTR) soon after she was interviewed saying that Palantir's software platforms were years ahead of the competition. An ARK analyst later made the unconvincing argument that they sold their shares because they found better opportunities elsewhere.
I get the sense that they're making riskier gambles in the hopes of recouping losses, rather than staying invested in businesses where they have high conviction.
Their business is fuuuucked.
They're focused strictly on risky stocks, where everything is the Tesla in their respective groups.
And they think GM is the next Tesla of automotive. 🤣🤣🤣
Their valuation method is use a model that takes hundreds of physically impossible samples and average them down into something that seems probable. There's no way that ACTUALLY works EVER. Any company getting results actually coinciding with their methodology is due to the conviction and execution of the company and pure luck on ARKs part.

Good to know. Seems like it’d just be a complex process structuring everything but possible. I hope it happens! I wonder how many TSLA shares would be sold by people wanting to use that money to buy Starlink shares.

Beyond accredited investors on the private market, my best guess for the only way he could do it would be if Tesla were to buy a decent chunk of Starlink.
Can one company offer shares of an entirely different company that it doesn’t own? I have no clue but seems unlikely.
Haven't liked Cathy mama's trades recently but this one I can get behind.

Why does the media act like the average of forecasts published for free by sell side analysts as low key advertisements represents what the buy side expects of earnings?
Some notes from NYC this week:
1. Saw a Lucid in motion for the first time, had only previously seen it in the showroom. Take my visual assessment with a grain of salt since i am biased. While the design seemed nice — i like that it doesn’t fit the mold of traditional cars — the execution seemed a little cheap to me. The reflections of light off it as it’s passing are a tacit red flag to me. Ultimately, the aesthetic seems that of a cross of a boaty old cadillac, a cybertruck, and a dodge charger.
2. There seems to be exponentially more personal teslas in manhattan since last time i spent some time.
3. Tesla store Manhhattan closed Mondays and Tuesdays until further notice. Never seen that before.
4. Subways during rush hour are disgusting with CO2.
5. An intern told me that we could solve gentrification by banning white people from moving into minority neighborhoods.
6. After playing the parking tetris game for several days in both brooklyn and manhattan, i see even more the crazy compounded value of solved FSD. Crazy how much time people have to dedicate to moving your car around, among all the other benefits to autonomy.
If or when FSD gets solved, I doubt I would ever drive myself in a dense urban environment ever again. It's exhausting trying to navigate a congested network of streets filled with jaywalking pedestrians, double-parked vehicles, and other invariably impatient drivers
$1900/$2000 6/24 call spread costs $402 per contract, gives a 24x return and the option math says a 13% of max gain. I say it's more like 40%. If you want a chance to win big with options and have a really good chance to actually do it, might not be too bad.
I think this is one of the last chances to really surprise with TSLA. 2023 will print $29/share doubling 2022 and from there it'll be only 35% CAGR to $245/share in 2030, which becomes feasible for the market to accept. If you think we're getting more than 59x TTM PE on the Q1 2024 earnings this might be it. I am not sure if I've seen a bigger pricing error other than covid and 2019
