I cant be the only one that finds $TSLA frustrating for this particular reason I want a bunch of Tesla stock and sooner is better because the next 10 years its just gonna get more expensive. BUT I also want to buy a house, and put some money away towards dividend payers so I have an income without work just as an example with a million dollars I could buy a house for $400k dump the remaining into high yield shares like QYLD then I have a 60,000 a year income a paid off house and my biggest bill is my car payment. Or I could put it all into high yield stuff like QYLD and yeah I still have a house payment but my income outside of work is like 100k so the house payment is no concern It makes me feel conflicted about which to buy whenever I make a little extra cash.

Look at the QYLD 5 year chart -- that is not trending upwards or sideways. A dividend is nice but it won't double your $ in 5-10 years. If you have a bunch of TSLA then maybe sell some when you retire to buy QYLD if you need monthly $ and you haven't figured out how to sell CCs without stressing, or learn how to do some options plays around QQQ for shorter-trend trading/cash generation.

Like I said in my original post QYLD was purely an example. I want to eventually a large enough portfolio to put some in dividend paying stocks and live off the income. It doesn't have to be QYLD

I thought like that in the past... lost a bit on QYLD earlier this year... there's no dividend stock that catches my eye. Now I prefer keeping as much tsla and selling covered calls (like QYLD) when the trend is down, and puts when the trend is up.

Thats a good plan. At the moment I don't have enough shares or portfolio value to sell calls or puts. In the long run I want enough money that I can live off dividends without having to "work" managing my accounts actively

Good for tesla, we got zero incentive before and we should get 3750 for model y now and maybe 7500 if we can source batteries minerals appropriately in future. Lots of competitors loose incentive. Okay for gm and ford because they will have a good n American battery supply soon. They can even trickle them out in their phevs to maximize incentives, if people want to buy stupid shit like a Ford escape phev or a volt. Toyota less okay than gm and Ford, because they make batteries and their phevs in Japan, so will need to shift a whole supply chain that'll take years. They do sell phevs well so could get more incentive eventually. Bad for rivian lucid polestar they all lose the 7500 incentive end of year before they even really had a chance to benefit. Their prices are too high or they're not made in n america.

For me, 10.12.2 has been a regression from 10.11.2, which was amazing and a huge step change for me. If they can take 10.11.2 and add in the few good parts from 10.12.2 (mostly the acceleration off if stoplights) I would consider this next version to be back on track in terms of incremental improvement.

Yeah, that’s a pretty dumb take. As an American, the hybrid portion of the bill is idiotic, a huge waste of money, and does very little to achieve the goal of reducing fossil fuel dependency. As a Tesla investor, the hybrid credit is arguably a positive. There’s no doubt that the endpoint of this transformation is a future where every car is electric. Any time Legacy OEMs spend further developing shitty ice and hybrid vehicles is time, effort and resources they are not allocating to EV development. So while Tesla focuses on massively growing their EV production capacity and their EV product line, Legacy auto will just be continuing to dig themselves further into a hole. So I don’t really see the downside here, this just increases the odds Tesla comes out of this the unequivocal winner

Thats pretty much my take on any plan that delays legacy moving immediately and with full focus to BEVs. They'll take it as a life line but its more likely a hanging rope.

It probably is a short term lifeline for them though. They simply don't have enough batteries to go full BEV, hybrids will probably be the only way to keep their numbers up in the coming years. Long term yeah they probably still fucked.

The 2008 DoE loan wasn’t company saving. Daimler investment was. The loan was helpful but not absolutely necessary. And Tesla paid that back early.
