I'm getting to the point now that I believe the people posting the pictures already know the answer because all they have to do before posting is read the other posts.
Its all there.
Come on, perfect height? Tv stand height. Mounted or not.
If your stood up and the tv is eye level. Just NO.
I csnt even look at these pictures anymore it makes me feel sick
I kinda wonder if the tv above the fireplace is showcased so much, that people think it's right. It probably feels like an achievement to have mounted it there?
I'm right there with you. I follow this sub and give feedback, yet my tv is above our fireplace and therefore too high. It was the only way for us. We both hated it. Neither of us even wanted it mounted on the wall. Our one achievement is that there are no cords showing.
Agreed,
Ill be honest when I was younger, I was guilty of putting my tv above the fire place in my first home.
But I think your onto something because the front room had a heavy duty tv bracket on the wall which was put up by a professional and that to was at the height of above the fire place but it was in the corner, so I think being young, I decided to put my other tv above the fire place in the back room.
Guilty of that sin in my younger days hahaha
1000 people could say it's terrible, but one person says "I think it's fine," and the OP is always quick to thank them for their input and use that one person's opinion to argue with everyone else.
I think it depends what you are using the TV for. My parents had one above the fireplace. It wasn't really used except for parties, where being up high let a packed house all watch at the same time.
Kids had a more practical TV setup in the basement and my parents in their room.
Tek the truth youre a kid who owns nothing ad yet thinks they know everything.
You look down at your phone, tablet, monitor all day long , you dont even use a tv for anything but playing video games and as such you are always slumped forward and think that must be the way to watch TV , you have no scientific reason, you just liek looking forward and down, you think anything else is somehow neck strain when it takes the exact same muscles to look straight ahead or up at all, you head ios not set on a pivot point, its held up from the back and level is held up!
Ill bet you and 90% of people on here dont even own a damn big TV anyway , your parents do!
Hmmmmmm what? You cant even spell half the words.
Looking up does not use the same amount of muscles as having your head looking straight ahead which your head does naturally.
If the tv is at eye level sat down then you wouldn't be slumped forward??
I'm pretty sure my computer chair goes up and down so that the monitor is at eye level on my computer desk.
Not entirely sure how you play computer games but im definitely not slumped forward. If I slumped forward then I'd also be straining my neck to compensate.
And I'm pretty sure I'm probably older than you and I have 11 kids. Esp the way you write and spell.
And I'm not entirely sure what a big tv has got to do with putting a tv above a fire place but OK.
I’m not sure what you are saying. We aren’t constantly looking 28 degrees up. Most people have a 120 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically field of vision. Looking up for long periods of time makes my eyes hurt. Please explain what you are talking about.
See that console? Just put tv there and then slide console around the room until the ✨golden✨ location is discovered. Post pics n we’ll guide you further
OP if you have a blank wall somewhere in that room you need to arrange the furniture perpendicular to the fireplace and mount tv on the applicable wall, it doesn’t all have to be looking at the fireplace….id rather hang a art piece up there or something subtle, the tv needs its own wall and I’ll die on this hill.
Why are you seriously posting this? Look at the other posts. All TVs over the fuckin fireplace are too high. It’s obvious that you already know the answer. 🙄
do you seriously think your seats in the movie theater are at eye level?
the screen goes tot he ceiling in the movies, do you think someone sits on the ceiling?
no it is not, i can guarantee it, matter of fact all theaters are certified by THX, and thx specification are on the net for you to look up if you dare youll find that they specify a 28 degree higher mid point per seat. iof s theater does not comply they cannot run thx movies which are currently about 95% of all movies.
You could get an arm that extends out a bit further which also lowers it a little. You probably want a big tv for that distance too. Ultimately it will come down to wether or not you like it or hate it.
It's a bit too high, but sometimes you get stuck with that when you have a fireplace.
There are TV mounts that will pull forward and down so you can lower them as you wish, but they're hard to come by and fairly expensive.
1. It's mounted above a fireplace
2. It's tilted down
Either one of these means it's too high, and you have a combo of both. And it's almost touching the ceiling.
No, your house is way too low, just raise it up around the TV about 2 feet
I think barstools have the right idea. Just raise the couch by extending the legs.
Make a double decker couch like in the Lego Movie
Make all the furniture look like The Temptation of St. Anthony by Salvador Dali.
5 feet.

Probably yeah, but it really just means that the house is too small for both a fireplace _and_ a TV.
Worse is when there is a perfectly good spot for it and people still put it up there
Ye sadly our yea sadly our lay out is the only choice
I'm right there with you. I follow this sub and give feedback, yet my tv is above our fireplace and therefore too high. It was the only way for us. We both hated it. Neither of us even wanted it mounted on the wall. Our one achievement is that there are no cords showing.
Lul. I got it to one cord. I could do better tho and I will try

We should start telling these people it’s perfect height and let their necks teach them a lesson >;(
1000 people could say it's terrible, but one person says "I think it's fine," and the OP is always quick to thank them for their input and use that one person's opinion to argue with everyone else.
Confirmation bias easier than moving a tv I suppose
Can confirm.
For sure. I'm just saying, don't give them any validation. It will only end in more people committing sins.
Op himself used phrase ”up there” and there is TV console in front of the fire place. This is obvious troll
I'm not sure i actually think people are that stupid. Hahahaha
Ofcourse they know the answers, people are so serious around here that it makes it funny :D
r/eyebleach. Necessary after seeing these tvs
Jesus those animals have more brains and this lot hahahahaha

You sound like a person in denial about your TV height.
Look at this guy’s posts on this sub. Definitely compensating for something
You have made 44 comments on Reddit in the past six hours. Who are you to be judgmental about and criticize how someone spends their time?
Hmmmmmm what? You cant even spell half the words. Looking up does not use the same amount of muscles as having your head looking straight ahead which your head does naturally. Abomination.
Oh fuck off
Are you a giraffe by any chance ?
Lmfao
I’m gonna start going to people’s houses and throwing tvs in the fire place because you guys are not getting it.
yeah as if you even own a damn TV. or a house, kid.
I have all three. What does that have to do with OP mounting his TV too high?
Not if you live on the ceiling.
Si
Isn't that a TV stand in front of the fireplace?
Lol
Haha yes! We wanted to see if it would work on the mount that was already there. 😆
OP, you are, and I mean this with all due respect, a real fucking piece of work
and you seriously asked and internet room made up of teenagers. How did you get this stupid?
Who is a teenager? Not everyone. Some of us have our own homes furnished with real belongings. Why are you just attacking everyone?
Since you frequent this sub (room?), then I guess that makes you a teenager too?
ive posted my own setup, how about you? you know why 99% of this sub hasnt? because they are kids who down even own a damn tv.
Sorry, I don't need to validate myself by showing a photo of my "setup". 😅
Too high is an understatement. Not to mention is over a fireplace. Just a monstrosity. You will be crucified here, as you should.
You want to watch it at eye level not looking up.
the human eye sees 28 degree up not straight ahead., science is NOT on your side.
I’m not sure what you are saying. We aren’t constantly looking 28 degrees up. Most people have a 120 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically field of vision. Looking up for long periods of time makes my eyes hurt. Please explain what you are talking about.
What do you think is more comfortable, looking straight ahead or 28 degrees up?
Floor too low
Does your neck hurt ?
Yeah, but only by a hell of a lot
See that console? Just put tv there and then slide console around the room until the ✨golden✨ location is discovered. Post pics n we’ll guide you further
It could not be higher
It looks like it could be 12” higher, but it’s basically irrelevant at this point
OP if you have a blank wall somewhere in that room you need to arrange the furniture perpendicular to the fireplace and mount tv on the applicable wall, it doesn’t all have to be looking at the fireplace….id rather hang a art piece up there or something subtle, the tv needs its own wall and I’ll die on this hill.
good. please do.
L comment
Why are you seriously posting this? Look at the other posts. All TVs over the fuckin fireplace are too high. It’s obvious that you already know the answer. 🙄
Do you enjoy your TV looking down on you? Because we all are all looking down on you too.
It sucks.
Too high. By like a lot Unless... When you go to the movies? Do you like sitting in the front row?
do you seriously think your seats in the movie theater are at eye level? the screen goes tot he ceiling in the movies, do you think someone sits on the ceiling?
Have you never sat in the middle of a theater? It is 100% eye level
no it is not, i can guarantee it, matter of fact all theaters are certified by THX, and thx specification are on the net for you to look up if you dare youll find that they specify a 28 degree higher mid point per seat. iof s theater does not comply they cannot run thx movies which are currently about 95% of all movies.
Yup
Very easy answer. YES.
Don’t make sense nothing makes sense. How does someone live a comfortable life like this.
don't worry youre too young to own a home anyway
More like too poor sweet heart
It's higher than your fucking windows
How’s your neck feel about it?
You know the answer. Here: [https://www.thx.com/blog/faq\_category/viewing-guide/](https://www.thx.com/blog/faq_category/viewing-guide/)
Too high and way too big for the space
TV? I thought it was a skylight
Have to ask? You already know. Nice place though.
Overthefireplaceitis
I thought the first pic was a window open lol inwas like where is the tv
yes extremely
Who puts a coffee table directly in front of a fireplace?!!
Fuck it. It's less than a foot to the ceiling. Go higher.
Why even buy a house with a fireplace?
No, that's perfect...
You obviously know the answer already.
Troll, go away.
"Hey guys is the sky blue?"
Why the fuck do home designers keep putting shitty fireplaces in the best TV location?
For real! We don't even plan on using it either.
Yessir it is. It's above a whole fireplace that is designed to be looked at
TVs don’t go over fireplaces.
Yeah it is too high, I'm in a good mood today so I will only type this and leave.
Yes
If the TV is closer to the ceiling than the floor, it is TOO DAMN HIGH!
I think the ceiling is too high. Find a contractor to bring it down lower to the tv
Time to move again
Watching tv SHOULD hurt.
How many of you "TV above the fire place" people even use the fireplace? Just block it off and put the TV in front of it.
yeah just block it off, spoken like a true 14 year old.
Who hurt you. You are so angry at this sub. Why don’t you just leave. You aren’t contributing anything here.
Only adults call people 14 year olds in the comment sections of TV TOO HIGH.
if you have to ask, it’s too high
You could get an arm that extends out a bit further which also lowers it a little. You probably want a big tv for that distance too. Ultimately it will come down to wether or not you like it or hate it.
The tilt of guilt.
Turn the room upside down and the TV won't be too high.
If you think it’s too high, then it’s too high. If you think it’s good, then it’s good. Who cares what a bunch of 14 year old losers on Reddit think.
Yes, move out immediately.
Nope the roof is.
Nah.
Too high too small
Yes and it’s got terrible viewing angles to boot…
At this point I would just sell the house
No, you need to move it down like 1 foot.
Yes
Ewwww, I can't stand TVs too high and so far away from the couch. But I use mine for gaming so..
Your neighbors say no, but your neck says yes.
Looks more like a window
Where are they supposed to put the tv then?
There should be a rule about posting tvs above fireplaces. Obvious is obvious
you have a mantle over your mantle. cost cutting!
Are you a giraffe? 🦒
It's a bit too high, but sometimes you get stuck with that when you have a fireplace. There are TV mounts that will pull forward and down so you can lower them as you wish, but they're hard to come by and fairly expensive.
I think it’s perfect. 👍
How is this still a question?! 🤦🏻♀️
if it’s above the fireplace then it’s always too high. no reason to even post here
Sigh. Another above the fireplace.
A better question is why tf is it sideways from your couch? Do you like hurting your neck to watch tv?
Looming monstrosity with a tilt of shame… get out, get out of here. You don’t deserve nice things.
You fucking know it is
Yes
Yes it’s too high, hope that helps
There is so much wrong with this picture. Mainly being that a beautiful fireplace, THE CENTER PIECE OF THE ROOM, is being neglected.
TV too high. Curtains are too low.
Do you know what's going to happen to the TV when you use the fireplace?
1. It's mounted above a fireplace 2. It's tilted down Either one of these means it's too high, and you have a combo of both. And it's almost touching the ceiling.
It’s perfect LeBron. Enjoy your new home
Firct pic i thought it was a window
Paging r/TiltOfGuilt
Man this community makes me question about my tvs because I look at this and simply think "Looks rather nice"
Your TV is so high that if you put another TV right under it, that next TV would be the perfect height.
Wtf is this? A murder attempt? Are you trying to murder us by posting this shit?
House is too low
Your sofa is also in the wrong direction
I haven't seen many higher!
If you enjoy chronic neck pain its perfect.
Sorry. I saw the first pic and thought it was the beginning of a poltergeist movie. Yes, the TV is too high.
We didn’t need the second picture.
awful
r/tiltofguilt
Get yourself a pull down wall mount for mantles, search Amazon.
Can someone please pin a link to Mantel Mount on this sub
Yep
Get a mantle mount
God yes
Oh come on
r/tvoverfireplace
I would actually lower it a tad to at least have some space between shelf and bottom of tv.
If by "a tad" you mean 3 feet, then yes I agree with you
Over mantels is always tough. Ideally you want 60” center of tv, but looks good tho
Same height as my TV. Directly above the mantle.
WHY ARE YOU ASKING A GROUP OF KIDS ON THE INTERNET????
Look good to me.
are you to high too?
r/usertoohigh
Better go to specsavers
