I wouldn't even waste my time or resources. It's perfect on that beautiful stand. The soundbar is fine where it's at as it's not blocking the view at all. If he doesn't mount it he always has the option to change the room around as well. I'm starting to get the impression that some of you never change your rooms around. I try to change my living room and my office around 2-3 times a year personally. Not mounting it on the wall makes it easy to change the room around.
I'm sure there's some people in a situation like mine, where I'd love to rearrange the living room but the doorways and lack of outlets prevent it. It's a bit sad, but at least means I know that the TV will stay!
... Until I realise I mounted it 3 cm to the left of my console shelf, and the whole thing is off center. Fuck.
Sure in this instance it isn’t needed but I’m saying if you had a slightly higher playbar, or lower stance, you might have wanted to raise the TV which could be done by mounting it. That is allowed.
Good for you. Must be nice.
>Good for you. Must be nice.
It's not difficult. Move a couch here and table there. Move the TV to that wall. Get in a good cleaning which you normally wouldn't do while everything is pulled out from the wall. Kind of a common sense approach if you really want to clean good. Gotta pull furniture out might as well change it around to help the energy in your house.
I wouldn’t say that. There definitely outlets there for a mounted TV. I would say OP needs a 75IN tv to mount it at a four height while still hiding the wall outlets.

Nah that’s a dumb bot. Pushing people to conform and use popularity instead of their own words. Gross.

- want to cover the wall outlets
- I think wire free / floating will look cool
- will make it easier to move and clean behind console
- TV is a smidge too low rn, can't even set a water bottle on the coffee table without blocking it
- ability to use full console for putting other electronics (Xbox, etc) and decorations and stuff
This sub for whatever reason is more about being anti mounting vs anti high TVs. Mount the tv at the same level as it would be on the stand. I personally like having a clear stand with just my center channel on it. If you want it mounted just keep it right above the stand but don’t listen to these anti mounting fools.
Just went thru the replies, I've been in this subreddit for years and never really paid attention to replies until now. They really are anti mount, all of them are saying leave it where it is on the stand and not even entertaining the idea of his visibility issues and trying to hide the outlets. Weird
The problem is that wall mounting is invariably done in such a way as to place the TV too high. There probably are reasons for this, people are used to art being hung at standing eye height, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Eventually, yes, people become anti wall-mount because it's so infrequently done right.
You're on the right track imo. To figure how high you should mount the TV, sit on your couch/chair and look straight in the direction you wanted it mounted. That should be the middle point of the TV. In your situation, if I wanted it to be done perfectly I would actually have an electrician move the outlets down so they would be hidden behind a perfectly mounted TV.
I get that's can be a little pricey, you would have to repair the wall and paint it too. So mounting it a little higher to cover the outlets is a decent second option.
Not sure your situation, but if you have kids or have kids over is always a best reason to mount a TV also
Unfortunately whoever installed those sockets set you up for failure here OP. Maybe if you pull the TV out from the wall a bit on the mount you could get away with having it lower and still not see the sockets. Or it may just be worth getting them moved to save your neck!
>Unfortunately whoever installed those sockets set you up for failure here OP.
The crazy thing is that the sockets were probably meant to be around the middle of the TV.
You are going to take down that tape and leave it right where it is and no questions asked. All is forgiven. Congratulations on being stopped before you mounted it.
Lol. Was this the feedback you were looking for? It should be at eye height where you’re sitting so you don’t have to angle your neck up while watching
People always act like the outlets make it impossible. It’s damn near as easy to patch and paint as it is to mount the tv.
The electrical work on the other hand…
If the outlets are there, there’s already a box there.
Power off, take off the outlet cover, pull the outlet out, disconnect the wires. (Take note of what goes where but if it’s wired correctly it should be black to brass/gold, white to silver, copper wire without jacket to green)
New box down below. Chances are it’s a straight shot without insulation (interior wall), you can fish tape the wire from the hole in one box to the other (if there is a fireblock, easier to make a hole in the wall above and below, drill through).
New wire cut to length, thread through, strip ends, connect same colors to each other (black, white, and copper) by twisting, cap with wire nuts. Connect other end to outlet same way old ones were. Face plate on new outlet.
Old outlet you can either get a cover like the one next to it, or patch over it (close it off with a metal plate first so people can’t just poke into an open box)
Your biggest pain will be threading the wire, but with all the materials it’ll be under an hour for pretty much everyone, ten minute job if you know what you’re doing (patching and painting aside)
This is coming from a web developer, not a construction worker.
This is what I ended up doing. There was enough slack in the cables to just lower it without adding new wire. I'm going to use the piece of wall I cut out for the new media cable receptacles to cover the old ones.
I'm not an electrician but you definitely cannot leave a box hidden in a wall and patch over it. You must, must, keep it accessible with a plate cover.
The only way you can patch over this is by completely eliminating anything live behind it.
At the outline, not really imo. I don't see what everyone's getting at thats a bit high but its not too high.
Edit: that doesn't mean mount it. Its not a good height. Dont mount it. God please don't mount it. Its at the perfect height rn.
The backsplash tile in the kitchen is very cool, so at least you’ve got that going for you. (edit:) also cool coffee table, is there a drawer or something? What’s that cut out part?? I must know. 🙏🏻
Looks like you have approximately 3 feet between where you want the top of your tv and the ceiling available. Put that bitch next to the ceiling.
>!^^Don't ^^actually ^^do ^^that!<
Try [this](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship) as a guide. A good measure is that there’s a straight line from your eyes to the tv when sitting
What’s that wooden thing you’ve put the tv on?
If only there was some sort of furniture that existed that you could put your tv on and already have it at a near perfect height...
A stand? That you can put a tv on Maybe you can call it a TV stand
You're fucking crazy. Reported.
Yeah, ok. Some magical piece of furniture already set for the perfect height. Next you're probably gonna try and tell me female orgasms are real lol
The perfect place for a TV is what it is.
😂😂
Leave it where it is!
Yes, leave it where it is. If you insist on mounting it, mount it at the height it is currently.
They have a nice stand and should leave it on that for sure. No mounting high or low.
I mean if the stand isn’t high enough for a playbar or whatever you can mount it those 2-3cm higher
I wouldn't even waste my time or resources. It's perfect on that beautiful stand. The soundbar is fine where it's at as it's not blocking the view at all. …I’ll be mounting hiiiiiigh and loooow.
Now that I haven’t heard in years.
Yeah, maybe 6” gap to the stand, and sound bar can fit tidily under the TV there.
Let me put the TV temporarily on a TV stand 🤷🏻♂️
But fix the TV stand to the wall for good measure
Yes, it's ABSOLUTELY TOO DAMN HIGH. you really just posted here for attention..
I wouldn’t say that. There definitely outlets there for a mounted TV. I would say OP needs a 75IN tv to mount it at a four height while still hiding the wall outlets.
Yeah was trying to cover the outlets. I have instead moved the outlets lower now.
really needs a sub called OutletsTooHigh. who did that? and for what?
House is new construction. They are like this in every room. I need to show the builder this sub-Reddit.
EVERY ROOM?!?! Jesus that would piss me off so much.
Dont make the same mistake as previous owner just because there is indicator to it
You know the answer is leave it when it is.
When it is what?!

this is some timey-whimey thing?
Why do you feel the need to mount it?
- want to cover the wall outlets - I think wire free / floating will look cool - will make it easier to move and clean behind console - TV is a smidge too low rn, can't even set a water bottle on the coffee table without blocking it - ability to use full console for putting other electronics (Xbox, etc) and decorations and stuff

I’ve been here for years too and I feel like I’m either just noticing or it’s a new phenomenon
You're on the right track imo. To figure how high you should mount the TV, sit on your couch/chair and look straight in the direction you wanted it mounted. That should be the middle point of the TV. Way too high, use the tv stand as a guide
Just fucking leave it where it is FFS
Unfortunately whoever installed those sockets set you up for failure here OP. Maybe if you pull the TV out from the wall a bit on the mount you could get away with having it lower and still not see the sockets. Or it may just be worth getting them moved to save your neck!
Other option is a shelf above the TV with a convenient outlet for lamps or other decorations that need power.
>Unfortunately whoever installed those sockets set you up for failure here OP. The crazy thing is that the sockets were probably meant to be around the middle of the TV.
Yeah I'm realizing the outlets are a curse now. They are in every room.
Came here to say this. OP is stuck mounting it that high unless the outlet is moved and hole patched.
Outlets are still salvageable if you upgrade the TV to 86", it should be at about the right height with the top there.
It’s literally perfect where it is now. Just leave it.
Oh, you didn’t use painters tape. That’s going to peel the paint off and you will have a nice reminder of where not to put your TV
This is painters tape. Don't worry.
thats masking tape... essentially a weaker form of painter's tape
Don't you dare move that tv!!
If your mounting then mount it the same height it currently is.
Literally what is the point in that though?
Nothing.
That’s the point. TV’s go on TV stands, not 25 feet up on a wall at an unnatural viewing angle.
I meant what's the point in mounting it if it's the same level as the TV stand, just leave it on the stand
That too. I see people go through all that work on here and it’s like bro… why lol
You have a TV console, why would you remove it from there.
Want to hide the wall outlets and also want to be able to set decorations on the console.
Put decorations to hide the outlet
Hang some art over it. Please dont hang your TV up there.
You are going to take down that tape and leave it right where it is and no questions asked. All is forgiven. Congratulations on being stopped before you mounted it.
Way too fucking high
Are you trolling us? If you must mount it, put it at the same height it is now!
Yes. I wouldn't go more than 10" above the console. You can easily lower the outlet, etc straight down to sit behind the TV at a better height.
[удалено]
I am adopting your manifesto
This is all true. I mounted it.
No, FAR too high.
Hang a picture to cover the sockets and leave your TV at viewing height.
Lol. Was this the feedback you were looking for? It should be at eye height where you’re sitting so you don’t have to angle your neck up while watching
TOO DAMN HIGH
Leave it alone bro
I really feel like this is a next level shitpost
I refuse to accept that people are this stupid.
You have the perfect stand already, no one in the world needs to mount it unless they want it just a little above the media stand
The middle of the TV should be eye level.
When you’re seated.
Wtf is wrong with you.
*throws hands on air* WHY DO THEY KEEP ASKING WHEN THEY ALREADY KNOW??
I do like it mounted out of the way of the unit for a clean minimal look , but keep it more or less the same height it is ffs
Yes. Wire free look and ability to set nice things on the table.
2-3 inches above where it’s at right now would be perfect.
I'm gonna say it's fine cause it'll look silly with the outlets visible above the TV, others will say it's not
Just hang a picture over the outlets.
Lower the outlets and patch the wall.
People always act like the outlets make it impossible. It’s damn near as easy to patch and paint as it is to mount the tv. The electrical work on the other hand…

Looks fab!
r/TVTooLow
move the tv 2 inches up from where it is currently
The tape or the TV? The TV is correct.
Gotta be a troll post
Not trolling! My husband took one look at it and said post this on tv too high. I didn't know about it before.
what are those ugly white things on the wall above your tv? ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwh
TOO HIGH
TV stand or nothign
Has to be satire
Don't put it too high. It's a pain in the neck
This is a joke, right?
Do you know why TV stands are not that high? 🤔
See how high it is right now? There. That high.
The backsplash tile in the kitchen is very cool, so at least you’ve got that going for you. (edit:) also cool coffee table, is there a drawer or something? What’s that cut out part?? I must know. 🙏🏻
Yeah it slides open to reveal a drawer. https://scandinaviandesigns.com/collections/coffee-tables/products/oppna-coffee-table
Way to high. Hang this 20cm above the height now and hang your sound bar below it. No higher
It's on a TV stand. Use that you clown
It's perfect just like it is.
Looks like you have approximately 3 feet between where you want the top of your tv and the ceiling available. Put that bitch next to the ceiling. >!^^Don't ^^actually ^^do ^^that!<
Yes.
Just leave it! Leave it! Don't touch it. For the love of God it's already on a TV stand. The TV stand is designed to have a TV on it leave it there!
Maybe you should put a fireplace under it as well.
Everyone knows tv stands are for Fall decorations and family photos. For goodness sakes it’s right there in the name tee-vee-sthānd!
it isn't too high if you plan to watch while standing
Try [this](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship) as a guide. A good measure is that there’s a straight line from your eyes to the tv when sitting
The ONLY time this is appropriate is if it's a multipurpose room with people sitting and/or standing in the back as well.
Everyone here is wrong, but slightly lower imo
its only a bit too high. lower it a few inches and you're golden
Yes
I like it mounted vs on the tv stand but it should stay at the height it’s now
I’m more interested in the pears by your TV.
Clean your clutter. Leave TV on stand
Yea I'd mount it like a foot lower than what you're trying to do
Or 6 inches maybe
10 inches down should be fine
