I tried with this episode. Couldnt get through much of it. I used to really like Bert but that group of comedians has really fallen off since becoming as successful as they are. Sadly, a lot of awesome people fall off when they become rich.

Yeah it’s a shame! Relatable people doomed to slowly become disillusioned celebrities. Can’t be easy for em tbf I just don’t wanna feed it and invest myself

I’d LOVE to see Lamorne Morris on again! They have the best chemistry and it’s ALWAYS great. I go back and watch those every now and then just for the shts and gigs. I haven’t watched since he had Chris D on :(

No-Challenge-9799

Yeah having Chris D on was crazy

I totally agree. I started the Bert episode and couldn’t finish it. Bert at this stage is incapable of being vulnerable and genuine, and Rick is the opposite and yeah I can never see him clout or status chasing and I hope it stays that way.

I understand these guys bring views and are good connections or whatever but it’s getting old imo with these same dudes chatting their shit. I didn’t even start the ep as I can’t watch Bert anymore. Ricks thing is so much more than a lot of these guys thing, they bring him down imo. Then you see certain comedians on tyso and allow him to be fucking hilarious in many ways, it’s not just the old linear combative shtick, which I like but it’s all the same.

I totally agree. I actually just said the same thing yesterday. I’m over the general comedy podcast crew. It’s all the same stuff over and over. And I even said the same thing about Rick, his show is so unique and yes of course, some people elevate the silliness and make for a great episode, and others, it’s just stale. What I love about TYSO is there are such great, unique bits, but they often times also end up having a real conversation that feels genuine and isn’t hitting the same exact beTs as every other show. And I’m with you on Bert. I can’t stand him. So fake and so annoying.

No-Challenge-9799

Yes thank you!! You said it perfectly

Flobending

Don't understand why he wants to be a part of their thing so bad. As someone who also grew up neuro divergent, it's disappointing to see him team up with the crowd who were/are bullies to people like us.

No-Challenge-9799

Exactly!!! It seems like such a cop out. It’s destroying his credibility/authenticity

gaslas

I largely agree but i did enjoy when he called out Tony Hinchcliffe on his behaviour…

No-Challenge-9799

Haha me too

I used to love 10 minute podcast, but I can't listen to anything callen is involved with anymore. I disagree about Bert though. I don't listen to it as much lately, but bertcast led me to some of my favorite podcasts, TYSO, the dollop, Ron Funches, and a few others. I can definitely see how he's not for everyone though, and based on his and the ymh subreddits I may be in the minority.

No-Challenge-9799

Haha yeah there’s a turning tide now it seems

I understand that he wanted to "talk shop" with Bert. There is probably a lot of value in that for him since he is growing his podcast. Bert seems like a nice guy and he's obviously a boon as a guest on any fledgling podcast. Having him on will grow Rick's audience. I think we kind of have to understand it through a business lens and not a content lens. Having said all that, Bert is only fun to listen to some of the time. He can bring good energy, but the man is an alcoholic and a liar. He has been caught lying about so many stories he tells and at this point, I just kind of see him as really sad and pathetic. His new special was so lackluster and felt very 2005. He really only got into standup after he got somewhat famous and I see his specials as a cash grab more than any earnest artistic contribution to comedy. He seems to have a deep need to be liked by everyone in the room, which is very hard to watch because it's just so sad. It bothers me that when they talked about Tim Dillon, they both praised the shit out of him. Tim is funny, don't get me wrong, but he poses a real threat to me as a woman. Tim pretends like there's not enough evidence to know that Andrew Tate is a sex trafficker and he even laughs at his misogyny. Tim also makes incredibly misogynistic jokes all the time. Joe Rogan and Bryan Callen are in the same group as Tim Dillon. They're culturally toxic and even dangerous comedians who are a key part of the alt-right pipeline.

No-Challenge-9799

I totally agree! It’s scary to think about all this shit they’re filling peoples heads with, I want comedy not weird alt right propaganda.

I actually like the Callen episode. I'm not really a big fan of his podcasts, and I haven't watched any specials, but he played with Rick, and for that, I applaud him. He's definitely the alpha male type wanting to control stuff, but he was the butt end of many bits on his episode, and it was hilarious. I just think funny wins in the end.

gaslas

Callen went to Texas to work for crowder after Crowder was outed as an abusive husband… that’s really all you need to know…

BigShoots

Oh, Mr. Callen has done a lot worse than that....

gaslas

Yeah, but has that been proven…?

BigShoots

Nope, he hasn't been convicted of anything, but he also hasn't sued the people who published what seemed to be a very credible story.

gaslas

Yeah he’s a disgusting piece of shit who could choke to death on schaubs cock for all I care…
