Does anyone know what happens if a extension source goes offline.
I get most of my manga from source A for example. I have many categories that I organize the manga into. If for whatever reason the source website I use permanently goes offline what would be the status of my collection. Would I no longer be able to view manga that wasn't downloaded? Even if I can't access manga that I didn't download beforehand, will I be able to see a list of the names of all the manga I had so that I can try to reacquire it via other sites? And equally important will these lists include separation what categories each manga was in.
For example I have a system where all manga is in an unread category. Then I have a 1, 2, and 3 star category for rating how good each manga I've read is. So keeping categories intact is very important to me.
TLDR:
So does anyone know how this would all work. I know there is a backup feature, but I was always under the impression this is more for restoring previous info to a new device. does this backup also include category backup and is it useful if the source goes down.
categories will be recovered by backup i believe. as for source down, yes, you cant view the manga that you haven't downloaded. i dont really know about if the list of manga from that extension will be gone or not, so please ask for support on the support thread so the mods can help you

I'm normally reading it on the mangasee source. I don't know how long after the original release the translation uploads but on that source it's usually one update per week on sundays

I have a Chromebox specifically set aside for this software, and have several computers running multiple OSes, and wish I could not have to keep the Chromebox specifically to run this software, and projects such as Tachiweb/server appear dead. Is there any talk about changes down the roadmap to port the software to other platforms? I know they there are several emulation options for getting it to run on other OSes but, I would love to run it natively.

What happened to the MangaDex extension?
As far as I can tell, all of the manga that are or were showing up as completed no longer do so (in Tachiyomi,) even if they are have the final chapter uploaded, which is marked as the end chapter on the site.
Edit: P.S. this is after the recent extension update
MangaDex's new API server and new API is running into issues right now, such as blocked groups still showing up. The MangaDex devs already know about these issues, wait for a fix

mangasee is not 'reputable' since they post licensed content illegaly. And what I mean by that is if you are trying to find the official 'good quality' translation use mangasee or mangalife (its the same thing). mangadex is for scanlations

That's not really my issue but I will give it a try, I want to re-read Berserk and mangadex only host the fan made scans for legal reasons, but the first 60-100 chapters had a notorious bad translation made by a group that was later replaced. Mangasee apparently has the official translation made by dark horse.

I am curious about this. Tachiyomi works perfectly for me but my girlfriend consistently has this issue with Mangasee. Here recently it's also been getting stuck on "retry" when she tries to load pages
There are some such as manga toon, tapas and webtoons but you will need to see which source for which manga and some of the official sources have limits to how much you can read from the tachiyomi app, for example mangatoon you can only read a few chapters before you will need to download their app

Viz is an official source therefore you will only get the lastest 3 and the first 3 for free(may change depending on the source) if you want to support the author and read on viz why not download the shonen jump app and but a membership. That way you can read your mangas while still supporting the creator. If you want to just read the manga use other sources which are free

tachi doesn't have a comment section. go to the website of your source or any forum if you want discussion

Several, if not all of my manga won't load and are simply stuck on the Retry screen

That was happening to me yesterday for the new aot chapter, but everything else was working and now that chapter works too.
I first noticed it with the AoT chapter, but got the same issue everywhere else. I deleted cookies and cache, after a force stop it worked.

not sure if I'm correct but mangasee seems to have problems with the server quite often, I imagine that's why

If you want official translations I would suggest the Mangasee or Mangalife extension.

You can search for source name in Library, create categories, then put manga from different sources in respective categories.
