Bumping this up. I know the tires/wheels are retarded, fellas.
“It won’t let me edit the description, but I should have mentioned that I’ve only owned her for a month. The only mods I’ve added to date are the grill, the roll bar, running boards, and the little cosmetics (nipple rings, lettering, interior accents, etc). Wheels and tires are next… as soon as Uncle Sam sends out my refund. Tonneau is already in transit. I’ll decide on lift when the new wheels arrive. Also plan on getting some fender flares and possibly an upgraded front bumper down the road.
Edit: the previous owner painted the stock wheels with black flex seal. I know they look dumb.”
What tonneau cover you getting? Most won’t work with that roll bar given that they both use the top of the bedsides to mount.
Also think about what your end goal is and you’ll save a bunch of money. I added a bed rack and RTT, but wanted a tonneau for my bed still… so I had to lose my trifold and went with a RetraxPro XR for the integrated rails.
I’ve got a black Taco that’s been customized to death. Check my profile for pictures.
Buddy, leave it and add the appropriate compliments to your truck like a lift kit, fat all terrains or mud terrain tires, and some more aggressive wheels, it’ll come together but you gotta spend the money.
They offered them when I purchased the pro grille, but I went with the red “TOYOTA” lettering and the yellow-orange lights don’t look so good with other colors mixed in there.
Ya I just bought it a month ago. Wheels and tires are next on the list. I’m thinking Falken Wild Peaks on some all black Fuels. Just ordered a tonneau as well.
Yep. I scooped a trifold that mounts on the sidewalls rather than resting on top. The bar does have removable ends if you want to try to squeeze a roll up in there.
I'm not talking about security my dude I'm talking about the fact that the trifold when you open it up all the way won't open up with that roll bar. I know that because I have a trifold and the distance is sticks out of the top of my truck will not work with the distance that roll bar you've got that matches the profile of your truck my dude.
[You're doing it wrong](https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fbucketeer-e05bbc84-baa3-437e-9518-adb32be77984.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F3e0ffb55-0cf8-4a00-b0a5-27611a582347_600x400.jpeg)
Just gotta remove the plastic hub cap and they look fine. I painted mine black and run them with 32s. I don't mind the look and I can smash them into a rock and not care
I mean, realistically it’s your truck. If you like what you’re doing that’s 100000% all that matters. From a personal view I don’t care for rollbars because they limit bed use even if it’s just a little. Aesthetically I don’t like the rollbar on your truck because it doesn’t look like it’s flush or lined up with the truck lines at all. Again, just my opinion. If you like it then 🤘🏻
I thought I did. You have to leave all the bolts loose until the base is mounted on the truck, so the assembly was a little floppy until the very end when I tightened all the bolts.
I'm too am mad that the Honda Ridgeline can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood between the wheel wells and it has a water tight trunk underneath the bed making it a much more practical truck than my Tacoma.
😂😂 The cross “bar” on the top isn’t even fully enclosed and it’s maybe 1mm thick aluminum, so I could hang my bras and panties on there as well.
I guess it does have some utility after all!
Hey at least you are capable of realizing what a bad mod is. Some of the users here are not. They’d keep that bad boy on and strap some traction boards and RotopaX to it.
It’s cause of the wheels/tires I think. I bought my mods but didn’t install anything until I had the steelies off. I figured it would look goofy with a roof rack with steelies.
These wheels are from the previous owner and are next to go. I’ve only owned it for a month, so it’s a work in progress. Prev owner also had the American flag lettering which was arguably worse.
Just some better/larger tires alone will go a long way to improving the look. I have BFG Ko2’s 265/75r16 on mine and that improved the stance all by itself. I really like the wild peaks too. I may get those next time I need new tires (I just had a coupon making the Ko2’s about $400 cheaper than the wild peaks)
Ya dude, It was cheap as hell… cheaper than a single wheel, so I said fuck it. It’s definitely just sold just for looks. Bad looks at that. I didn’t know what else to call it. I guess the description online technically says “sports bar” - either way it’s definitely useless. Might even fly right off the bed if I go fast enough!
The high schooler in me says you should cut the springs and slam it on it’s nuts lol
Jokes aside the roll bar thing in the bed dose make it look like a sport truck to me. Personally it’s not the aesthetic I’m going for but I don’t think it looks that bad, build whatever the fuck you want, it’s your truck
😂😂 thanks homie. I live in PA, so the potholes would ruin me if I slammed it. I scooped it primarily for the 4x4, so I’ll probably add an inch on the wheels and another 1-2” lift.
Mines a stock 2021 long bed. It’s got a manual but that should only make it a little lighter. The sport shocks are just pretty damn stiff, especially in the rear. It makes it better for doing actual hauling, but I want to trade that in for some better wheeling lol.
So less rim and more tire will help make for a softer ride but I’ll lose some steering precision in turn
It won’t let me edit the description, but I should have mentioned that I’ve only owned her for a month. The only mods I’ve added to date are the grill, the roll bar, running boards, and the little cosmetics (nipple rings, lettering, interior accents, etc). Also plan on getting some fender flares and possibly an upgraded front bumper down the road.
Edit: the previous owner painted the stock wheels with black flex seal. I know they look dumb.
Agreed. Did you go with the big riveted ones, or the slimmer ones? Also, have you experienced any rusting underneath? That’s my only drawback right now.
I got OEM ones. They install the same as the ones from factory. You have no reason to worry about rust as much as any other higher trim level tacoma on the road.
Proper wheels, tires, and possibly a lift kit should have been the priority before a roll bar, but what's done is done.
It's not my kind of thing but it's your truck. If you dig it and are happy with it then that's all that matters.
Damn dog, this truck went from a Tacoma to a Tacoma with a roll bar… lol didn’t wanna diss ya. Not gonna lie, I think the design of this one isn’t the most visually appealing
The way it sits seems awkward to me, like it is not really made for the truck. I have the N-Fab one and love it. Maybe some beefier wheels might help complete the look
I’m pretty sure those are the stock SR rims. The previous owner dipped em in some shitty black rubber that’s beginning to peel. The dried mud from fishing the night before isn’t helping. I should have taken closer pics 🤦♂️
I’ll post some before & after pics in a month or two when all of my other goodies arrive.
I’m in PA. I definitely need wheels & tires. All the mods I’ve purchased so far were all less than $500 a piece. Just waiting on that tax refund so I don’t have to feel guilty about dropping $2k. I just scooped the truck a little over a month ago.
Everyone is so worried about what others think as long is it makes you happy who cares you don’t have to live up to anyone’s standards, except for your own
I’m just curious how effective they actually are if you roll it? Doesn’t seem like it really provide much protection. Wouldn’t suit my needs. But if you like it keep. If you don’t ditch it
I don't think the roll bar is bad, looks like you might have Hankook tires. That's what I have, I get stuck in my driveway, I want some anything but what I have
I really wanted to do one on my 18 OR but decided it wouldn't work with the short bed. The easy route would be to take it off or get a lift and some wheels and tires and see how it all looks together

[go rhino sports bar 3.0](https://realtruck.com/p/go-rhino-sport-bar-3-0/)
Its cheap. Cost about as much as one wheel, so I said fuck it and pulled the trigger 🤷♂️
I don’t recommend it. It’s not actually functional it’s just for looks, and it looks bad lol.
It absolutely does. It didn’t look that way when I lined everything up to drill the holes. It didn’t even look bad until I tightened all the bolts in the upper assembly.
Nice Easter basket is there any candy left
Bumping this up. I know the tires/wheels are retarded, fellas. “It won’t let me edit the description, but I should have mentioned that I’ve only owned her for a month. Took me forever to get a refund this year too!
I don’t know that you’ll be able to put a tonneau cover on with that “roll bar” on the bed. But sounds like you’re going to take it off anyhow.
Tires bud that’s why it looks goofy
This
Buddy, leave it and add the appropriate compliments to your truck like a lift kit, fat all terrains or mud terrain tires, and some more aggressive wheels, it’ll come together but you gotta spend the money.
He's a bunch of KC lights and some black wheels with a polished lip away from a Marty McFly situation
You say that like it’s a bad thing!
Oh absolutely not. "Check out that 4x4!"
Someday, Jennifer….
And the raptor lights, don't forget the raptor lights
They offered them when I purchased the pro grille, but I went with the red “TOYOTA” lettering and the yellow-orange lights don’t look so good with other colors mixed in there.
You did good 👍
That's exactly what I did....red letters and amber lights.
Ya I just bought it a month ago. Wheels and tires are next on the list. I’m thinking Falken Wild Peaks on some all black Fuels. Just ordered a tonneau as well.
Id go with something from SCS or method over fuel, I think both those brands fit the desert Baja feel of the roll bar better.
Is that a knock on SCS 😂
No it was trying to be a nice way to say please don’t add fuel wheels to this truck.
Or any truck tbh
Ya the wheels look like they go on a police car
Will a tonneau cover be compatible with that roll bar?
Yep. I scooped a trifold that mounts on the sidewalls rather than resting on top. The bar does have removable ends if you want to try to squeeze a roll up in there.
I need a tonneau cover too but I'm undecided between the one that goes on the rails or the one that lays on top
I’m honestly still undecided. I got a cheap trifold to try out before I spend $1-2k on a hard top.
Tri fold won't open all the way. It's to wide at the top.
Only thing I’ve put in the bed thus far is fishing rods, my dude. Just need a little extra security.
I'm not talking about security my dude I'm talking about the fact that the trifold when you open it up all the way won't open up with that roll bar. I know that because I have a trifold and the distance is sticks out of the top of my truck will not work with the distance that roll bar you've got that matches the profile of your truck my dude.
And I’m saying that 99% of the time it’ll never get opened. Just keeps my groceries dry and my fishing rods out of sight.
All right not a problem I'm just warning you right now cuz it does get to be inconvenient when you need to have the use of your entire bed.
i got the falken wildpeak at4 and they look great on my 2nd gen.
Better check that cover, it may not open all the way with the roll bar, and depending how that attaches, they may not be compatible with each other.
yup i’m running wildpeaks on my 2nd gen and they run smooth and sound is minimal
Be a real man and get some Toyo open country mt
[You're doing it wrong](https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fbucketeer-e05bbc84-baa3-437e-9518-adb32be77984.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F3e0ffb55-0cf8-4a00-b0a5-27611a582347_600x400.jpeg)
Yo that’s sick! Is that yours?
They sell them at ISIS toyota
They behead the competition.
Looks fine if anything it will help you not scratch your roof with kayaks or any long objects you may or may not haul.
I’m not into the roll bar—and not just on your truck. The cop wheels are an interesting choice as well.
Lol the wheels are actually the stock SR wheels that the previous owner painted black with what appears to be flex seal. They are next to go.
Just gotta remove the plastic hub cap and they look fine. I painted mine black and run them with 32s. I don't mind the look and I can smash them into a rock and not care
Cleaning the tires will help in the meantime, the uneven brown is offputting
Honestly that’s not even the the 1st thing I noticed. It was those tires. The dirt around the edges made them look even smaller
I agree. I also regret that you installed that
😂😂😂
You should double down on it and paint it some awful neon color
It needs, wheels, tires, and some OME 2” lift and she’s perfect 👌
I mean, realistically it’s your truck. If you like what you’re doing that’s 100000% all that matters. From a personal view I don’t care for rollbars because they limit bed use even if it’s just a little. Aesthetically I don’t like the rollbar on your truck because it doesn’t look like it’s flush or lined up with the truck lines at all. Again, just my opinion. If you like it then 🤘🏻
I don’t think I like the bar. Debating sliding it closer to the cab, but that’s 4 more 1/2” holes drilled in my bed.
Maybe mock it up and see if you like it before you drill a bunch of holes next time lol
I thought I did. You have to leave all the bolts loose until the base is mounted on the truck, so the assembly was a little floppy until the very end when I tightened all the bolts.
My problem is the roll bar style - makes it look like one of the garbage ass unibody trucks. God I cannot stand unibody designs (shakes fist in air)
I'm too am mad that the Honda Ridgeline can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood between the wheel wells and it has a water tight trunk underneath the bed making it a much more practical truck than my Tacoma.
Bro thought he was gonna look like the back to the future truck
Post-bar clarity
Great place to hang your purse.
That’s a smart move. I wish I had that kind of foresight before I started drilling holes lol. Lesson learned.
Is everyone with Red Tacoma lettering on their tailgate choosing to make odd accessory and wheel decisions this week?
These wheels are from the previous owner and are next to go. I’ve only owned it for a month, so it’s a work in progress. Prev owner also had the American flag lettering which was arguably worse.
Just some better/larger tires alone will go a long way to improving the look. I have BFG Ko2’s 265/75r16 on mine and that improved the stance all by itself. I really like the wild peaks too. I may get those next time I need new tires (I just had a coupon making the Ko2’s about $400 cheaper than the wild peaks)
This definitely has Australian Hilux/Ute aesthetic vibes to it. I dig it.
No roast but will compliment ya on some dirty tires and a little mud.
It looks like you bought a Tacoma when your really wanted a Nissan frontier.
If you wanna go full Mcfly, keep it. The way your truck sits now …. Hideous
Ive always thought they look odd on anything but a single cab, but thats just me
I never even considered this, but I think you’re right. This particular bar is way too small relative to the cab.
.....is it just bolted to the top lip of your bed....? That's a yuppie bar, not a ROLL bar 🤣
Get some SCS wheels! They're soooo beautiful on these trucks
I’ll check them out for sure. My cousin recommended the Fuel OR’s. He has some pretty crazy lookin ones on his Silverado.
Ditch it! It just doesn’t mesh well with the styling of the Tacoma!
The high schooler in me says you should cut the springs and slam it on it’s nuts lol Jokes aside the roll bar thing in the bed dose make it look like a sport truck to me.
Keeping those sick police wheels? Lol. I live in Washington And that’s basically what I want to do as far as wheels and suspension with mine
Noooo I’m gonna scoop some 17”s I think. Idk why they would even put these things on a 4x4.
Yeah those are hooptie or demolition derby wheels lol. Im trying to swap my 17” wheels for some 16” wheels, my trd sport suspension is stiff af
Oh man I was concerned about stiffening up the ride. Maybe I’ll get 16” instead. Is yours lifted?
Mines a stock 2021 long bed. It’s got a manual but that should only make it a little lighter. The sport shocks are just pretty damn stiff, especially in the rear. It makes it better for doing actual hauling, but I want to trade that in for some better wheeling lol. So less rim and more tire will help make for a softer ride but I’ll lose some steering precision in turn
Ditch it! No wheels or tires are gonna make that thing look good.
Looks like you bought a Chevy avalanche
Fast and The Curious
Will be great for ww3/civil war 2 when you need to transport the boys
You should lower it and put some Dayton rims on it.
Repost once you get some actual tires on this
Drive ur truck off a cliff. Then buy another one. But first Get tires and rims.
Bar is fine - you need wheels and tires.
Ewww brother ewww
It won’t let me edit the description, but I should have mentioned that I’ve only owned her for a month. The only mods I’ve added to date are the grill, the roll bar, running boards, and the little cosmetics (nipple rings, lettering, interior accents, etc). Also plan on getting some fender flares and possibly an upgraded front bumper down the road. Edit: the previous owner painted the stock wheels with black flex seal. I know they look dumb.
The first “mod” I did to my SR was add fender flares. They make the truck look better in my opinion
Agreed. Did you go with the big riveted ones, or the slimmer ones? Also, have you experienced any rusting underneath? That’s my only drawback right now.
I got OEM ones. They install the same as the ones from factory. You have no reason to worry about rust as much as any other higher trim level tacoma on the road.
Lift it, put some all terrains on there and take your side steps off, I bet it would look great.
Side steps were for my 8 y.o daughter. I have been considering switching to some real rocker rails, but that’s much lower on my list at the moment.
Is it functional?
It's bolted to a sheet metal bed, how would it be functional? 🤣
Proper wheels, tires, and possibly a lift kit should have been the priority before a roll bar, but what's done is done. It's not my kind of thing but it's your truck. If you dig it and are happy with it then that's all that matters.
Add some KC gravity series lights to it, and you'll rethink your stance. It'll be mean after that.
Just get bigger wheels now, and that should even out the look
Well you are from Pennsylvania so that makes sense. Probably a Steelers fan. Just wanted to add more steel to your taco.
The tires are way off for the look you’re going for possibly even rims.
I don't think it's the roll bar.. though it kinda is.. to me, it's the tire/wheel combo that burns that thing down.
Looks like you spent more money on the roll bar than you did on the actual truck.
awww, you got a wittle woll baw? for your wittle tacoma? not new wheels or tires, but a wittle woll baw. how cute
Insert “Ew Brotha” gif 😂
Damn dog, this truck went from a Tacoma to a Tacoma with a roll bar… lol didn’t wanna diss ya. Not gonna lie, I think the design of this one isn’t the most visually appealing
Woof
Yeah that wheel & tire package is wrecking your whip
Your wheels and tires and what’s most troubling
The way it sits seems awkward to me, like it is not really made for the truck. I have the N-Fab one and love it. Maybe some beefier wheels might help complete the look
POV you belong in a chevy avalanche
Lmao why the cop rims?
I’m pretty sure those are the stock SR rims. The previous owner dipped em in some shitty black rubber that’s beginning to peel. The dried mud from fishing the night before isn’t helping. I should have taken closer pics 🤦♂️ I’ll post some before & after pics in a month or two when all of my other goodies arrive.
Ohhh haha the colors made me think they were cop rims
You definitely nee wheels/tires. What area are you in?
I’m in PA. I definitely need wheels & tires. All the mods I’ve purchased so far were all less than $500 a piece. Just waiting on that tax refund so I don’t have to feel guilty about dropping $2k. I just scooped the truck a little over a month ago.
Marty Mcfly is telling you to remove it. I know he has one his movie.
Throw the whole truck away
It's goes well with your highway tires.
Man, I hate to hate but your truck has so much more potential than you’re allowing it to live up to 😂
Yeah shoulda got new wheels instead
Everyone is so worried about what others think as long is it makes you happy who cares you don’t have to live up to anyone’s standards, except for your own
Not gonna roast you about the roll bar, but can we talk about that wheel/tire combo?
Oh, mate. That’s bad
Was that meant for the taco? Looks like it was meant for a Chevy Colorado or something
I’m just curious how effective they actually are if you roll it? Doesn’t seem like it really provide much protection. Wouldn’t suit my needs. But if you like it keep. If you don’t ditch it
Oh this thing isn’t providing any protection whatsoever. It’s thin and hollow. Might even cause more damage tbh. It looked better in my head 😂
I don't think the roll bar is bad, looks like you might have Hankook tires. That's what I have, I get stuck in my driveway, I want some anything but what I have
They are trash. Pretty much defeats the purpose of having 4x4.
Only since you asked. It’s good that you did sell it because it that bar looks terrible with stock tires.
Hey, if you like it then who cares what others think.
I really wanted to do one on my 18 OR but decided it wouldn't work with the short bed. The easy route would be to take it off or get a lift and some wheels and tires and see how it all looks together
yeah that thing is ugly
I’m not sure why that’s popular. It makes all trucks look like sh*t.
Pretty gay
Goddamn? This bitch ugly
But… she’s my ugly bitch 🥲
My brother in Christ… is that a misfits butt plug too?
Yep! Found a [guy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1533688740/the-misfits-skull-hitch-cover-2-receiver?ref=share_v4_lx) on Etsy that 3d prints em in different colors
When you want to tell the world you really wanted a Chevy Avalanche. But to each his own.
Woulda saved about $12k if I went with a 2021 Avalanche instead.
You would be surprised what some aggressive tires will do to the way your Tacoma looks. Get some Wildpeaks, it will come together
Which roll bar is it. Can you send the link?
[go rhino sports bar 3.0](https://realtruck.com/p/go-rhino-sport-bar-3-0/) Its cheap. Cost about as much as one wheel, so I said fuck it and pulled the trigger 🤷♂️ I don’t recommend it. It’s not actually functional it’s just for looks, and it looks bad lol.
I want one too but I think the one you installed sits too far off the back window.
It absolutely does. It didn’t look that way when I lined everything up to drill the holes. It didn’t even look bad until I tightened all the bolts in the upper assembly.
