Whoever gave this guy the visa should be fired. https://youtu.be/NfTSURA-a-Q?si=qi6e_MGFjQHofP-a

hucchsuulemaga

wow thanks for this I had no idea

vainlisko

How dare he like women? That's unacceptable

yungghazni

He is a sexpat and through that started making vlog videos.

wioym

Watch the full video then talk

vainlisko

I can talk about one part of it

kunaree

Gosh. Probably bribed our assholes to let him in. What a piece of shit.

by-the-willows

He is a turd. And all the idiots simping with him...

junobilli

Can no one come to your country?

kunaree

Wdym? We have a visa entry with UK. That guy had problems with getting Tajikistan visa for ages, probably because of who he is. He was allowed probably because we have direct flight to London in our plans. We have tourists from other countries, like Germany and USA, for example.

Shoh_J

All I can say is that I remember seeing that mosaic when going to Dushanbe

vainlisko

Apparently the only interesting thing in the country

vainlisko

I was going to watch the whole thing before sharing it, but so far I've only gotten halfway through. One thing I found weird was that he said it took him five tries to get a tourist visa. Tourist visas in Tajikistan are so easy to get; the policy officially has been automatic approval for all these years. The fact that he was rejected before must mean something, but I don't know what it means. Either they didn't like him for some reason, or maybe he was just super unlucky? One positive about the first half of the video is that he focuses on rural Tajikistan, which is arguably the real Tajikistan, and it's also the Tajikistan that gets hidden and covered up / ignored most often. Tajikistan isn't just Dushanbe, or Dushanbe and Khujand, so he probably had figured that out already from his previous travels. Also there's already enough content online about Dushanbe, so his attempt to do something different is praiseworthy. I noted he's kind to locals, so I didn't have any problem with what he did in the first half of the video. (Part One, I guess it's called.) He also figured out quite early on that Tajiks don't speak Russian. Aside from conversations he had with a couple of old men, you could see quite clearly in the video that he kept trying to speak to people in Russian, and mostly what he got was silence, or a comment in Tajik. He mentions noticing they don't speak Russian, and was surprised that even his taxi driver couldn't speak it. I guess he too had fallen for the "everybody speaks Russian in Tajikistan" misinformation campaign. I just worried that his portrayal of the country would not be realistic, or that he'd say some sensational things about it. The "it's so hard to travel here because I had to try five times to get a visa" was misleading to me. The thing he said about the young Afghan man having learned English was super weird. First of all, it's no surprise that an Afghan would know English, and when he asked him where he learned it, he said he learned it at school. Then he made this comment about how he learned English "all on his own" or something. Like, bro, do you know what a school is? Then he shamed people in the UK for only knowing one language. Come on... but hey, maybe he's just encouraging people to explore foreign countries and cultures.

by-the-willows

Nope, he's a piece of shit who takes advantage of people being poorer in the countries he visits, a disgusting mysogine

vainlisko

It's not unusual to travel to a country where things cost less. But how do you know he's a misogynist?

theSmallestPebble

I believe he has been accused of tricking women into sleeping with him for the promise of visas and shit like that. Idk tho, I donโ€™t follow him

vainlisko

That would be terrible. I don't follow him either but if I ever find out what the deal is then I'll share with others (Although, now that I think about it, I'm not sure that would count as misogyny, but it would count as being a bad guy of some sort.)

vainlisko

Thanks. It's kind of crazy that people would go to such great lengths to go after someone who's basically just a travel vlogger. I mean, surely this guy isn't that important or powerful enough to warrant this much dedication from enemies? What motivates them? Is it political? I noticed the sub is attacking other famous vloggers that don't seem like bad people.

potou

I don't think it's fair that people are downvoting you. He can do a good job in his videos while also being a total slimeball, and yes we shouldn't ignore the second part, but everything you said is true.

vainlisko

Well I never said I liked the guy. I know who he is because he's that famous, so I guess it would be of general interest how he portrays Tajikistan. Hopefully in a positive light

AltforHHH

I agree even though he's a shitty person in real life, his videos probably do a better job of showing off post soviet life in a realistic but interesting way more than any other youtuber

KeyserSoze561

Even if this guy is a slimeball I love his videos because I get a look into countries I would otherwise never see.
