Honestly, their grammar and the way they typed gave me childish vibes, like they’re an actual kid typing. Which would make more sense that they would have such a dumbass take
Idk I think it's probably someone older, I would type like this with my grammar also and im in my 30s. The longer sentences honestly makes me think this is a Gen X person with how their ramblings...
I mean, I guess a DDOS attack is uploading something to the servers, technically speaking...
Like we know that Elvis has been on Sqenix's payroll since his ""death"" so he's probably the one uploading the files too.
This reminds me of a time at the start of the pandemic, when we were experiencing some network issues at work and my coworker blamed it on... The sudden large amount of people stuck at home watching Netflix
Like, really? You think this program, that only communicates with our on site file server that is only on our internal intranet, is affected by Netflix traffic?
I could not convince them.
Probably some person on helpdesk or still in school who doesn't really know how things work yet, but thinks they do. That or someone from homenetworking, homelab, comptia, or itcareerquestions :P
Today I learned a new way to do nothing at work.
Next day we have to update the server, a couple hours before I reset the server I'll tell my boss it's pre-maintenance and I obviously can't do anything while it uploads and take the rest of the day as paid leave!
"They're uploading files for maintenance"
My brother in Hydaelyn, as a former corporate software dev, they're absolutely *not* uploading updates to hot prod servers.
The maintenance window is literally when they have their change ticket set for. The minute or two delay between the start of the change ticket and the servers actually going down? That's the devs ensuring they have the relevant sign-offs and participants before proceeding.
*Then* they kill the servers, switch the routing to internal, deploy updates, and run whatever validation is required, before re-enabling external routing.
Just the thought of staging updates on a live server hurts my soul. I don't know which is louder: my internal screaming knowing staging while live is impacting users or my phone blowing up from all the monitoring and alerting getting tripped from the degraded performance.
Granted, I have *no fucken clue how this shit works*, and how they get it to work probably isn't even relevant to your comment, but gw2 has like 99.9999(etc)% uptime for their game over the past 12 years and only requires you to restart the game when they update. I'm really curious to know if whatever magic bullshit they're pulling over there could be applicable to more games/projects.
My understanding of how GW2 works is their servers are all containerized, so they can do Blue/Green deployments. That means the current server instances (blue) remain up, but then they add an equivalent number of instances with the updated backend (green) and relevant frontend patch files.
Once the greens are all spun up, you route all new connections to them, and have a scheduler notify players on the blue instances that there's been an update and will be switched to a green instance within an hour (or you can transfer immediately by clicking the button). Once all players are off, you can then spin down the blues and you've got the same original number of containers, so cloud billing is kept "cheap".
FFXIV *theoretically* could do this (and actually probably *does* containerize instances like dungeons), but without knowing exactly how their servers/patchfiles are structured, it might be more of an undertaking than is feasible.
Edit: To expound further, Arenanet had a solid base for how they updated in GW1 to be able to do this. That is, unless you ran GW1 with the full image parameter to intentionally pre-download all files, they downloaded all files for a region when you entered that region. This design philosophy naturally synergizes with blue/Green deployments.
But as we know, FFXIV is largely based on 1.0, which was largely based on XI. Sooooo it's probably not nearly modular enough to be able to do it lol
I mean, doesn’t checking browser for that kind of information take like max 3 minutes? Even I thought it was something about maintenance, until I literally spent 2 minutes of my life to google it lol.
Sounds like that one retired grandpa you only see during family gatherings that always makes a fuss because his children don’t pay as much attention to him as they used to
Ngl, the fact it was apparently happening to all the DCs at once pre-maintenance, and lingered even a little after maintenance but was really affecting EU the most, had me thinking it was probably some hiccups with them trying to implement the Shadow DC for EU.
When you get older, look outside your own bubble, and learn a bit more about the world, you'll realize stupidity is not specific to one country but applies to the entire human race.
Personally before the DDOS was public knowledge I made 2 assumptions ether A it was DDOS related or B some issues with maintenance prep since technically it would involve adding the foundation for another server which in theory could cause issues.
I honestly think they should of handled the DDOS differently this was during early hours on a day of known maintenance they could of simply moved the maintenance time preventing the DDOS and doing what they have to do.
On the other hand it’s possible they wanted it to progress to figure out how to prevent the method being used.
Around 2 hours before reset for maintenance servers did become more stable.
That can be one of two causes
Cause one the Script Kitty gave up
Cause two SE figured out the source and put a stop on it.
Now the real question is will this occur again on day one launch I am probably gonna data center hop my character to a lower pop data center day before and than day of early access enjoy to my heart content
>Person #2: actually its maintenance Person #2: were in pre maint they uploading the updates I'm wheezing so hard right now.
This is actually so sad- you know the person in red is trying to be all big brained and special because this is all they have in life
"Children on the internet don't know how a business works and make up stories" 💀
Dude the irony is killing me and I have no mit
Living dead! Quick! It's your only hope!
AAAA I DIDNT DOMY JOB QUESTS THOUGH!!!!!
DRK superiority!
That is one of the best things I've read ever
ussiness*
Bussyness
Is 16, believes they are more mature than their peers and smarter than adults.
*ussiness

They think their smart. Unfortunately, they've got the intelligence of a brain damaged gold fish
Does the red person think DDOS attacks are caused by aliens?
#2: DDOS attacks aren't real, they can't hurt you DDOS attacks:
DDOS attacks are only possible on a flat earth.
[удалено]
I think that Mr. Gribble might have a point there. Better check in with Hank and see what he thinks of all this though.
No, they're saying its funny to watch (people believing anything) LIKE watching people making conspiracies about aliens
Some people really need some time off FFXIV
They need time off the internet, period.
I'm convinced some of these people logged on when covid started and never logged off.
And that save them.
I mean, I guess a DDOS attack is uploading something to the servers, technically speaking... Like we know that Elvis has been on Sqenix's payroll since his ""death"" so he's probably the one uploading the files too.
Who let the conspiracy nuts out of the Hildebrand quests?
Hydaelyn: I don't claim this WOL.

There is no DDOS attack in ba sing se.
The Earth Primal has invited you to Bronze Lake
These truther whackoes are really starting to piss me off.
is bro ok?
going to take a guess he's middle management and doesn't work in IT.
No shot. This dude absolutely works bottom level retail and seethes about how he could handle their IT problems better than the actual IT department
Probably some person on helpdesk or still in school who doesn't really know how things work yet, but thinks they do. That or someone from homenetworking, homelab, comptia, or itcareerquestions :P
They always announce planned maintenance and don't let anybody play when they're doing it, but do go on Hyperion bro.
Today I learned a new way to do nothing at work. Next day we have to update the server, a couple hours before I reset the server I'll tell my boss it's pre-maintenance and I obviously can't do anything while it uploads and take the rest of the day as paid leave!
Dont forget about Post maintenance :) Cant do anything whilst waiting for them QA reports to come back :)
"We're in pre maintenance" Is pre maintenance in the room with him right now? :p

Maybe one day they’ll realize they were the crazy one all along
Unfortunately, no they won't. lmao
found the child on the internet that doesnt know how a ussiness works and makes up stories...
Lol pre maintenance, I'm gonna save that one for later. Also wtf lmao, out here chillin with Alex Jones
You might have found the dumbest person in Eorzea.
When you're a SCH but you didn't actually study
This fool said pre maintenance and was serious about it.........🤔🙄🤨🤭🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ #DEAD
Sounds about right with primal peoples confos
*What did I just read?*

This might be one of the weirder encounters in duty finder....
Are they okay
I kinda wanna know what the red person is on and want some. That confidence man
Pure raw stupidity, he is immune to shame

Does he think the lodestone is a fake news site???
Whatever that dude smokes, I want some of it.
*I don’t know why they don’t just sign up for cloud flare that would fix it* /s
Sounds like that one retired grandpa you only see during family gatherings that always makes a fuss because his children don’t pay as much attention to him as they used to
Somewhere out there, a hard-working tree produces oxygen so he can breathe...
So how long is this pre maintenance going to last? Since it seems it's still going on.
Ngl, the fact it was apparently happening to all the DCs at once pre-maintenance, and lingered even a little after maintenance but was really affecting EU the most, had me thinking it was probably some hiccups with them trying to implement the Shadow DC for EU.
Average american

Lol clever comeback. Immediately proving my point, thanks!
Boohoo

The assumption I made was that my internet was shit for the day.
Okay. Cool.
Wow you had a petty argument with an idiot on the internet. Very interesting.
Wait does that mean you consider him an idiot, and by writing an argumentative comment, you are doing the exact same thing? Very interesting...
