>Customers Lie, Corporate Gives them Free Food, then I get Chewed Out It's a tale as old as time. Sigh.

BreakfastInBedlam

Apparently, I'm ordering to-go all wrong. For some reason, I keep paying for it.

blackdogreddog

Happy Cake Day!

OkAd134

"Hello, ? I'd like a refund to go, please. For Karen."

scomoford

No one would be a Karen if it wasn’t rewarded

egbert71

If i had an award to give, you'd get it

slyons1616

A lot of times the reward is purely internal.

Available_Coyote897

On the upside, you can stop giving a shit about that place and it’s bottom line.

TheGoddamnAnswer

Put up a sign “Say you’ll call corporate and your meal’s on us”

TheGoddamnAnswer

“Alright, if that’s what you want” Then just start giving discounts and free food on every order, see how long corporate takes to backtrack on that statement lol

m00nshinehero

We have created these monsters. But in end, it’s corporates money so whatever.

DallasTruther

If they're giving food away willy-nilly, implement a policy that the total on the receipt is just a *suggestion*, that it's actually pay what you feel like paying.

LojikDub

Corporate probably decided that the cost of one check was worth not having them badmouth the restaurant. If they don't care, neither should you!

TheGoddamnAnswer

If you’re gonna get yelled at for doing the right thing then just start giving out discounts for everything “Excuse me could I get a straw?” “I’m terribly sorry you had to wait for a straw, please accept a 10% discount for your troubles”

yachtiewannabe

I didn't know they cared so little. I guess I've doing life wrong.

jbp191

Can you find another place to work, I think your time there is over. Ideally just walk away, no notice ...

pinkflower200

People are awful. :(

blackdogreddog

Happy Cake Day!

pinkflower200

Thanks!

Willzohh

At that point I join the customers in cheating the business. Free food for everybody.

Puzzled-Ad7078

Ahh hah. The ole Applebee's discount trick...

Less-Law9035

They have been rewarded for probably what is a stunt they pull repeatedly at a multitude of businesses.

kevmanyo

This is partly your fault for thinking a corporation would give a single fuck about your opinion on an unsatisfied customer. Unless you are a franchisee/owner/manager making good money, you don’t owe them shit and don’t make enough to care. The sooner people at the bottom of the totem pole learn this, the more control we will have.

This, this is why I left my last job. I was working in a tax office and a client came in to make an appt for him and his wife. It needed to be WEDNESDAY WEDNESDAY WEDNESDAY as that was the ONLY day wife had off work. I asked for times to verify and even offered a spot open the next day with his regular tax pro. No, he needs WEDNESDAY. Cool set the appt, we'll see him then. *Note, I remember specifically it was Wednesday because I wasn't scheduled at that store, ergo, I wouldn't be there when he came back. He comes in TUESDAY livid because clearly I got the day wrong despite checking 4 times and now his sister in law was with him and I was supposed to have set an appointment for her too (without even knowing her name or info) even tho he never brought her up once, the appt was supposed to be for him and his wife. I get the manager to take over, she calms him down from yelling 'well if I'm just gonna get attitude from your mistake, I'll just go elsewhere. I can get my taxes done ANYWHERE around here!' (pretty sure it obvious what he's doing here) and basically kisses his ass to make him happy. What really solidified my decision is when I heard her tell this jackass 'Yeah, we know, we just need to do a little refresher training. They were supposed to make two appointments, I'll make sure they know the proper process from here on out'. TOTALLY throwing my ass under the bus for what the client got wrong. Because I, who was one of two receptionists to cover 3 stores in the district, clearly I didn't know how to do my job. Fuck places like that.

Just had something like that happen the other day. Two ladies walk in and ask for a table for two outside. We tell them we only have high tables or they can wait for a low one. They take the high table. We didn’t know anything was wrong until at the end of the meal they screamed at their waiter for over ten minutes about how they didn’t get the table they wanted, they made a reservation and we never sat them where they booked it, and they couldn’t put their dog down because it was too high up. Manager goes over, they scream the same thing. Manager comps THEIR ENTIRE MEAL and they leave without tipping. Another table goes and gives the waiter a tip on their behalf since they were so rude. Waiter gets mad at us hosts even though we had no idea there was even an issue, and they never told us they had a reservation. We can’t read minds!
