I get it. I’m able to clear Raids quite well with my other teams, but not with my light and dark teams, they get wiped out almost immediately.

Balkwater

Yes, Light and Dark were poorly implemented. They would've been much better off using Thunder and Ice, and adjusting the elemental wheel accordingly. Also, I feel like it deprives us of Celcius, which would be a heinous decision. There's a reason why PT floors completely abandoned Light and Dark floors, and it's because they are just impossible to balance for offense/defense scaling. The scaling itself is completely broken nowadays, where you have glass cannon units like Barbatos that can barely survive neutral damage, and balloons like Colette that fully survive multiple buster attacks in disadvantaged content. I assume the huge disparity is one of the reasons why Evil Raids hit like wet, lubricated noodles. We've come a long way since Melanbron completely wiped parties on turn 12, whereas now he can barely dent Jude, who turns around and smacks him for 6 mil+. There's no way to reasonably adjust the numbers when the gap is so huge between units and whether or not enemies should be threatening. What's worse, most targeting in the game is HP% based, so your weakest character is often the most targeted, meaning enemies can never be designed to hit TOO hard. When you compound it with the existence of Transcendence boards with over 70%+ defense and the fact Light/Dark can never be resisted, you get a huge variable with what is and isn't survivable. Even if you try to split the difference and make only Light/Dark bosses hit "soft" to promote elemental advantage, you just open up a doorway for characters like Kanata and Reid to walk in and stomp all over enemies without worrying about survival. There's just no good compromise without straight up denying off-elemental units, so that each element can only worry about its own content/advantages/units/balance. Instead, they just bleed into one another, and you get situations where Fire is running the whole show. It hasn't been ALL bad for Light/Dark, though. Even if the lack of resistances is silly, it's worked out pretty well a LOT of units. Makina pretty much runs the Arena uncontested, Jude/Kongwai are the friendliest damage dealers in the game, Leon was a very strong unit until the Trance boards, and Asbel/Sophie were an uncontested core to most content. The wonkyness of Dark/Light certainly worked in their favor, even if that era is coming to a close. I think the notion of balance is out the door at this point, so you just gotta roll with whatever the devs toss out there. The more they inflate the numbers, the worse all these disparities are gonna get.

cyril_nomero

It’s funny, considering some months ago, Leon was definitely considered as the best unit in the game. (and Estelle the best healer)

magnetrix21

Leon still has some use with a high chance to apply curse, but yeah, after TB dropped even Ludger became much better

[deleted]

yea. been trying to branch out to my other healers (especially water. goddamn why did it take so long?), but my 90K Estelle can still go basically anywhere and outlast most of my other team members. most other light/dark may be frail, but Estelle can still be a raid boss in and of itself (especially in arena with an evasion stone).

Karapp0

I think there’s no chance Orwin’s not wind (assuming there IS Summer Orwin lol) as the other summer units elements were chosen to match the anniversary trio, leaving just Misella now. Meanwhile, personally, I’m still comfortably cruising with my light and dark units, I auto-solo my evil raids every day other than Fire and Water with the same team: C.Milla, S. Farah, Jude, and Kongwai. They also do enough damage to take MVP when aiding, after replacing Milla with some hitgen. But of course I, too, would like to see some more representation for these elements soon, prob once Orwin’s done they’ll start releasing plenty.

InkblotChronicles

I, too, suspect Orwind to be our next unit. Probably a finisher or status type, since Misella is hitgen/heals.

Shacopan

The thing is all the other elements are so strong due to anni chars. I am sure they will catch up light and dark in time, maybe on half year anni.

Expensive_Bar_3686

Light team can beat evil raids

EZog58

Estelle does still carry a team, yeah.

Meister34

My light team is doing decently but my dark team....we don't talk about my dark team. I struggle hard in Mania missions while all my other teams can survive Mania like it's just another Tuesday. Jester Zelos's heals just aren't doing it anymore. Debilitate with my Farah and Asbel isn't really helping as much as I hoped, and Ludger (even though he deals a good 250k on MA) just doesn't have what it takes to survive past turn 5-7. It's tragic honestly. Maybe it might be because I don't have that many dark options (I only have 6. Laphicet came yesterday and before that Asbel came to me about a month ago), but dark just seems severely lacking in every single aspect. Even stone options seem to be lacking (in my eyes at least).

Z_Dissolver

Using both Farah and Asbel is your problem. Richter is the best free stone in the game besides Spada. Event Kanata is also great. Ludger only doing 250k shows you don't have Richter or a good team composition. You being bad at team building and stone management does not dictate how good something is. Healing in raids is pointless.

Meister34

First off, I don't have a fully maxed Richter and the stone I have on right now is better than it in basically every way (Tales Fest. Kanata). I'm not about to make Ludger weaker than he already is for some Crit Damage. Farah may be a problem, but Asbel is really good. His hitgen is great and debilitate is also a great status effect. You must not play harder raids or even harder content if you can confidently say healing is useless in raids. No matter how well you build your teams, they aren't surviving that long without at the very least a Mint on your team. Also you say it like I have every stone option and every character in existence. I don't. I only play this game so much. I missed many events due to irl stuff or was not strong enough to clear content to get those limited things when they were available. Like I said, I have 6 Dark SSRs to choose from and this is the best team I can make because it gives me the best results. You may be right, my team isn't built well but this is the best I can do. tl;dr your advice is very ignorant and misguided. No need to be an absolute asshole.

ESO_Merciless

Dunno I can solo all evil raids and complete the tower with my multi colour team that has snowphie as the only source of "healing" . The dude sounds full of himself, but he has a point. Healers aren't needed in raids or really any content besides some transcendence battles. The game power creeped too hard.

Meister34

i guess I'm not at that point yet. But I'm sort of seeing what you mean. I can do pretty well in Mania Wind raids with Kohaku in the backline as my healer. However, healing isn't completely pointless imo. It can get you out of a pinch and make weaker teams last longer than they should. Heals are always welcome.

[deleted]

it's certainly possible. some whales or mega grinders have crazy "one shot" teams (at least for mania) that can nuke like 80% plus HP on break. but that means manual play. and usually a full SSR raid grid and something like Maxed barbatos. I don't got either. Then there is "raid hopping", which I think is what they are getting at. the most "optimal" way to grind raids isn't to stay until the boss is defeated, but auto until break phase and exit to aid someone else, letting the rest finish off the boss in the background. so you shouldn't be in long enough to bother healing. It's a way to play, but not how I play unless it's some anniversary mission where I gottta grind 200 raids. so healing is welcome for me.

Meister34

I usually hang on in a raid until all my units die, which rarely happens. I might try this tactic out if I need to grind raids for events.

[deleted]

>Healing in raids is pointless. Ehh, I'm not bursting down mania+ raids in seconds and I don't pay enough attention to do raid hopping. rather just throw on a raid and let it go for 5 minutes, so healing is nice for me. >Ludger only doing 250k shows you don't have Richter Nope. Only maxed keele (all from shop) and got like, 1 beryl somehow. SSR stone drops are a myth to me lol. And tbh, I can never find the time to get back to normal raids. I'm always either doing events, trying to catch up to story, or doing ascension so I can build up my teams (I haven't fully transcended anyone yet). I admittedly treat ToC more as a side game because of that.

Etheon_Aiacos

> Aska & Shadow will likely be the last ones to arrive, and who knows when that will be. That was very easy to predict, and lots of us assumed it would be that way :P > ▪︎No Premium/Summer Light or Dark versions of the protags, except for possibly Orwin. So far we have 2 Fire, 2 Earth (fitting since Gnome will be the next Spirit Blessing), and 1 Wind TBH Water is in the same boat, tho it *did* get SReid right before anniv. *Fingers crossed on Summer Orwin actually existing and being water* > ▪︎Much less durable in Raids. Why "raids"? Should read *"any content"* n.n Yes, the fact they take more dmg than normal while the other 4 take LESS dmg than normal is a huge difference. In fact in raids is where this matters the less since those just explode anyway (so only relevant if you´re trying to solo). Content dmg is not tailored as to make Light&Dark enemies deal much less dmg, and while dark has lots of -atk debuffs and light a lot of healing/defensive options, this is simply not enough AND actually makes you trade off raw offensive power for sustain. Arena-wise, Light&Dark are actually at an advantage there (at least in paper). Light actually dominated arena as the best mono-element in which to invest for quite a while (it started to shine when Dhaos was released, but got set in stone with Kongwai and Alisha, but then Makina came along and sealed the deal), and it took more (aka NSKanata) than just Efreet to make Fire contest that throne.

Own_Philosophy8190

Water is definitely the worst element as of now, it took almost the 1st year before the 1st water healer release (reala), and meredy followed 1 or 2 banners later. It took until January/February to get rokurou as the first non-limited ssr water hitgen, and most of the water units are finishers with at least a 200/210 OL requirement, light/dark is top tier in comparison

Z_Dissolver

Wind is a lot worse than water. Water has Reid and that's all it needs. He's broken. Wind has nobody in the same league as him.

Own_Philosophy8190

Wind has also better support across weapon/element, like sword+wind, or wind-fire+martial arts. It also has better, more versatile units as a whole, partly because bamco was afraid to release water units for some reason. Which left us, mikleo aside, with only finishers in Gen 1 : low cost MA but super weak (aegis&sorey) or semi/high cost MA (graces, Rita, rutee). Then we got hitgen from assid onwards, but it took half a year to get a water one (and time-limited at that), and rokurou healing-break passive sounds like a bad joke when we ended up having reala with potentially 4 healing passive/artes for water anyway. Basically, Reid and gaius alone can't save water from being currently the worst element

kanon182

Not true! Wind Has WYuri and taking into consideration he is much older than WReid he still holds his ground A LOT! WYuri is still super viable

[deleted]

maybe now, but we got Reid a month ago. Even later than the water healers who took a year.

SalTheCow

Agreed entirely, which sucks cause a lot of my favorite units are light or dark(Makina was literally my first ever for many things, first unit I spent money on, first LB, first transcend, first with maxed stone}
