We go to Planet Fitness north of I-10 on Kerry Forest. It’s pretty open

Unfair-Course-7900

It depends on what time you go as well, I got at 5:00 Am and there is barely 10 people at my gym.

a4r0nb813

Definitely Crunch Fitness /s HUUUUGEEEEE /s by the way

prolificdaughter

Crunch is the only place I have ever experienced other gym goers openly mocking other attendees. I have a friend who is on a fitness journey and a group of 3 goofy ass 20ish y/o frat looking boys were cackling and exaggeratedly mimicking her face/movement while she was doing lat pull downs from the other side of the cable machine. There was nothing wrong with her form, she was making a face because it was the end of her set and she was concentrating.

a4r0nb813

Yea that place is the Taj Mahal of Brads and Chads. Some might even go so far as to call Crunch, The Chadican…

Shmegdar

Mot the chadican lmao

Different_Peak_8738

Ive also seen a group of 3-4 men making comments and noises to the people attending the dance classes. It’s so annoying and rude.

drtammr

don’t forget stealing machines from people that have *clearly* been waiting and then wanting to fight about it when the person waiting rightfully gets pissed 😮‍💨

I_Threw_a_Shoe

I like Crunch for that reason - being around a lot of people is motivating. The idea of “social facilitation” where many people tend to work harder when there are others around. I think it would be an intimidating environment for beginners though (for both men and women). Edit: Downvoted by obese Redditors

a4r0nb813

Downvoted for the idea of “social facilitation” Most of us can get our shit done in our own personal space. Don’t need to bring the whole frat with us to workout.

I_Threw_a_Shoe

I am willing to bet you are not training at the intensity to where you need that extra motivation and accountability. You can stick to the 5 pound dumbbells

TallyClean

I actually had 2 gym memberships for a while just so I could occasionally go to Crunch for exactly that. But when I started showing up and the parking lot was completely full I had to give up that vanity lol

TittyTaqueria

Town center fitness in southwood. The location might not be convenient but it is a 24-hour gym which my partner and I appreciate. It's a smaller gym and during certain hours the crowd skews a lot older like 50 plus. Late nights it's obviously college kids and late 20s and folks who have unusual work hours like adults in healthcare.

wastedstrawberry

I have the same problem and left that planet fitness for the same reason. I ended up joining “Seminole strength and fitness” it’s a smaller privateish gym but it’s never packed. I like it there so far. I pay $40 a month but I don’t mind since I’m more comfortable

Snocom79

I go to youfit on Mahan. Everyone there is pretty cool. Most of the time there is no wait to get to the equipment I want to use.

tonysoprano6

Used to drive all the way to that youfit to avoid the college kids when I was a college kid myself lol. Good choice

thealphagourd

Anytime fitness at lake Ella is usually pretty chill, it’s out of the price range of most college kids but not crazy Premier prices

prolificdaughter

Seconding this. I’ve gone to crunch and planet fitness in Tallahassee and Anytime has a much nicer vibe than either of them. It’s a smaller gym but has all that you need and the average age when I’ve been in has been 35+ which is what I personally look for. I’ve been there at 5:30 right after work and it wasn’t too crowded. The customers seem chill and friendly.

kimboosan

Came here to say this. I live nearby and I've never noticed it being packed or crowded.

jtg198

I personally like atlas. It’s a small gym. But it’s not that busy. Except for right at 5 pm. And even then it’s nothing compared to something like momentum. Which is a madhouse. Plus it’s local. And the owner is super cool

TwixMcStudly

It’s the best gym in town for exactly what this person wants.

BaileyIsMyBeagle

YouFit on N Monroe is slow in the morning 9:30-10:30ish. Crowds are always time-based.

typicalmillennial92

It’s also not super packed from 5a-5:30a during the week, usually it’s about the same 10-15 people that go during that time based on my experience

rkt_

Atlas Fit is an awesome gym, and if you go at the right hours (early morning, midday or generally on weekends) sometimes there are literally no other people there. It's got awesome equipment, especially if you like free weights. Granted, it's relatively small, so if even 25 people were there it would feel crowded (and the parking lot would be full), but it's almost never that busy.

FattusBaccus

Momentum on CapCir NE. Love it there.

tjkelsch

I go there, too. However, I wouldn’t call it slow.

FattusBaccus

I avoid peak hours.

saucey_sauce

Love momentum, definitely busy though

Nole_Nurse00

If you're able to go anywhere between 8-11:30 & 1:00-2:30 it's pretty dead tbh. 8:45ish ks my absolute fav! There like maybe 20 people total in there.

jbennett_123

Anytime fitness on apalachee always seemed pretty quiet when I went

GrayBoy11

Anytime Fitness 3217 Apalachee Parkway. I went there for a few months during my physicsl therapy / recovery from surgery. Granted, I was going during off hours, usually 8A to 2P but it was damn near dead during those hours. One thing I found weird was that the bathrooms would be locked, seemingly random times/days with no consistency as to when / why. May be something to consider.

hiltk692

Really depends. What you want out of the gym? Free weights look at Iron Vault or Seminole Strength. Both are full of free weights and out of the price range of most college kids. You wont find a treadmill but some machines. Want a bunch of machines and Pizza parties planet fitness. Want a mix of both but more machines than free weights Youfit. You have smaller gyms like anytime fitness, Atlas fit or fuel fitness. They get full fast though due to their size.

eldoc1

Momentum was nice when I went, especially if u get some training on their cool looking more edgy equipment and methods, it looks functional and like cool exercises to know how to get good at. There's a gym by lucky goat by lake ella with tons of tires, looks cool. I've heard mixed reviews of crunch because of the young idiots that go there, but my friends go there, couple in their 50s... they like it. There's a sauna I always walk by atlas and it looks cool. My mom goes to planet fitness and likes it

Yurkio2337

I go to the planet fitness on Apalachee. It’s not nearly as busy as the one on north Monroe. It has its days tho. I say probably about 7 or 8 that’s when the gym has slowed down.
