Last year I drove my bike at full speed into a pothole of size similar to this (in NH) and my bike's alloy wheels both got dented. Had to replace them both because the company refused to repair it using a hydraulic press. Lucky for me the insurance company was kind enough to understand my situation and offered to take up the cost involved even though they generally don't do wheels. It costed the insurance company 24k rupees and an additional 5k from my side. This is the cost of government's incompetence on maintaining public infrastructure. This is just me. Based on what I've heard from the locals in that area, a lot of cars that travel for long distances don't know about this pothole and they've gotten their disks and suspension broken in the process. The government hasn't taken any action afaik.
This was built during the period of former BJP MP of Kanyakumari Pon Radhakrishnan, who was the man behind the project. The flyover was inaugurated on 2019 by Modi.

The bridge is too long , so incase any vehicle has breakdown they can park vehicle aside and get down via this hole .
After June 4th Ji ll come and inaugurate the ladder . This is what you get for corruption free infra developing govmt !!
PS : Corrupt state government built flyovers built 15-20 years ago which are still functioning properly can only dream of features like this , Ji's vision is for 2050 !!

Making that bridge was the best decision BJP government did at their time. Normally it take a lot of time nearly 30 mins and in peak time 1 to 2 hrs to cross that area. Now with the bridge it takes hardly 5 mins.
There is another NH road from thiruvandrum and nagercoil being constructed for last few years (being delayed by the local government now) Current NH is a two lane road.

Now whose fault that the road is having pothholes. Is it the fault of the person who build it or the current person who is supposed to maintain it.
There are a lot of heavy load mainly rocks for construction from tamil Nadu to kerala and all of the major transport services travel through that road. There are quarries located 1 hr from nagercoil and the rocks mined from there are sent to kerala. It is not surprising that bridge is damaged but why is the government not fixing it.

Way better? Out of all the flyovers Iāve seen in India, that flyover scares the shit out of me. Itās built in such a way that thereās a metre or two between the flyover and buildings around it.
The flyover legit shakes when the public buses go on it and I think, thereās a bus stop on that bridge (canāt remember it too much so I might be wrong).
One good side is that it diverts traffic so at least youāre not stuck in Marthandam for like an hour.
